Having advanced a little further down the corridor to catch up to Bees and receive his report, Threnody watches as he peeks inside the final door.
"Are you suffering from memory loss too? I've been talking about sensing undead to the east for a while now." Threnody frowns, looking down at Kaster. She brushes him away with the butt of her spear as if shooing away a particularly pesky gnat.
"And what exactly do you imagine that moaning is?" She whispers, keeping her sardonic tone low. "That we slogged through sewers and necromancers, just to stumble into the honeymoon suite of some energetic newlyweds? ... Of course it's damned undead."
Bees moves back to the group to report. "No less than six undead wandering aimlessly in there." Pointing to the third door he encountered. "What's our play?" He asks the group hoping someone has a scroll of fireball or some other magic to make quick work of the animated dead in the next room over.
Though Liatris had appeared a touch disappointed on Kaster's reasoning for suggesting they knock, she soon after just quietly shook her head, dismissing the halfling's words as being born of either naviety or self-delusion. Both of which were dangerous in their own way. Yet, as she looked at him again, there's a glimmer of hope in her eyes... and pity, but MOSTLY hope.
"Though their senses have been diminished by decay, the rest of us aren't like to sneak past easily enough. And as I have not the means to reinforce the door significantly enough as to prevent their them from simply smashing through later if circumstances later grab their attention, it may best to put them down swiftly, taking advantage of the tight quarters to eliminate them in such a way that they would not be able to so easily overrun us." She whispered, then looks to Threnody. "But in this instance, I am more inclined to differ to your wisdom, Miss T."

Attacked by the spear of Threnody and the glares of Liatris, Kaster grouses and grumbles to himself about "the bigs" and wanders away from the group and towards the door Bees had said the undead were behind. ((Threnody says she caught up to Bees, Bees says he went back to the group... I am guessing they are somewhere not right in front of the door at this point?)) Once outside the door Kaster will peek through the rotted thing and try to get a glance at the creatures within. Their decaying flesh and undead life repulses Kaster and he almost unwittingly casts Flaming Sphere on the other side of the door - inside of the room - such that the zombies or whatever cannot exit the room without passing through the sphere...
"Foul things!" he calls out at them. "Come and get me!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kaster casts the flaming sphere spell on the other side of the door. The sphere appears around one of the zombies which fails to move out of the way in time and takes 6 fire damage.
Samosh moves closer to Kaster to protect him from the zombies (will update map next round, mechanically you are in the square to the right of Kaster.)
(Oops. I didn't expect a zombie on the immediate other side of the door. Little slip of the map I could see beyond the door seemed empty. This matters cause technically the spell is cast into unoccupied space. If you just want to leave as is this time, that is fine of course... But if you want to retcon it to the other side of the door, well it wasn't the intention but I did describe it being cast almost unintentionally so if it was a bit off from where intended that would make sense too.)
Bees watches as Threnody and Liatris both dismiss Kaster in their own way. He stifles a grin as he watches Kaster lose his temper and kick Threnody's shin, but Bees turns serious as Kaster moves past the group with the intention to take his frustrations out on the undead. "Wait!..." is all the gruff halfling gets out before Kaster's divine ball of flame ignites and he taunts the zombies to attack. While he's disappointed a solid strategy hadn't been discussed, he can't help but raise his eyebrows and nod approval at the tactic employed. "...Nevermind." He adds as he puts a reassuring/approving hand on Kaster's shoulder.
Bees quickly flips his pack around and pulls out a small leather pouch. The clanking of metal can be heard as he opens the pouch and spills its contents out in front of the doorway. A thousand tiny ball bearings spill out into the space in front of the door and (hopefully) roll under it to make the space difficult to cross. "Let's take them as they come out." Bees says as he moves to the opposite side of the hallway to the east of Kaster.
Ball Bearings:
As an action, you can spill these tiny metal balls from their pouch to cover a level, square area that is 10 feet on a side. A creature moving across the covered area must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature moving through the area at half speed doesn't need to make the save.
((That's a good point, but I'm ok with it appearing in the same space as the zombie. They're all going to be trying to go through it soon anyway because they are very, very dumb.))
On his turn Kaster continues concentrating on his Flaming Sphere but leaves it right where it is so that any zombies ending their turn within 5' of it take 7 fire damage...
Kaster will shuffle himself a bit to his left (map right) to try to get some cover by the wall while being able to keep an eye on the hallway. He also pulls out his crossbow and readies a bolt to shoot at any zombie which may make it past his sphere and the door...
Action: Readied Attack - Crossbow vs any Zombie that comes through the door Crossbow: 15 to hit for 10 piercing damage Bonus Action: none Movement: Shuffle a bit to the side is all Concentration: on Flaming Sphere, this is rd 2 of 10...
Though the initial response had been predictable, seeing Kaster next make his way for the dead men's door elicited a bit of brow furrowing out of Liatris. Yet, she makes no move to stop him. Threnody and Bees were close enough to intercede if the worst came about, and for as foolish as his earlier reasoning sounded, Kaster had already shown himself to be anything but.
She's visibly taken aback at the show of bravery, and even moreso when Kaster's retreat lead him only back by only so far, leaving Liatris muttering, "There's hope for him yet."Afterwards, she ran a few quick calculations, and upon realizing she could never position in such a way that would be conducive to direct success, she'd instead pulls out tongs of all things and plucks the knotted ball of leftover parts imbedded in her shield, held it before her lips, and whispered, "Zhak vo'n'fynh duj". Almost immediately the ball began to glow a redhot orange and radiated steam as if suddenly superheated, before reassembling itself into some sort of spherical creature.
"That actually... *ahem*... Deploy Weave Catcher."The 'eye' of the creature dimly flashes in recognition of the command, and after be setting it on the ground, it scurries up the nearest wall and hangs from the ceiling just above; it's body rapidly "cooling" in transit. It then twitches and jerks and seems to almost dance in a way as its feet clung to the ceiling before releasing a pulse of energy that would make one's hair stand on ends. Though nothing more seems to come of it, those within touched by the pulse of energy would feel as if they'd been wrapped in a warm blanket.
Action: Create Eldritch Cannon(Tiny - Protector).
Bonus Action: Command Cannon to reposition and activate.
Movement(Cannon): 15ft eastward in such a way that its clinging from the ceiling, then pulse. Any allied creature within 10ft of it gain 6 Temp Hp. (Which should be Threnody, Bees, & Kaster (And Samosh, if he actually repositioned closer to make his ready action valid..)
Threnody prepares to charge towards the door and blockade any escaping undead when movement catches her eye - the bizarre, mechanical creature emerging out of Liatris' shield. Spooked by the 'Weave Catcher', she recoils, startled by the construct glowing like a hot iron fresh from a forge. Her first instinct is to smash the robot to smithereens, but she smothers the impulse, glancing at Liatris and shaking her head in disbelief.
"What... what the hell is that thing?!" She yells over her shoulder, voice rising over the moaning zombies amassed behind the crackling ball of flame Kaster had conjured within the chamber.
There was no time for answers. The paladin throws her dark cape to one side, muscles tense as she rips a javelin from the bundle across her back. She sprints forward, stopping just short of Samosh and the ball bearings that Bees had scattered in front of the door. The tiefling stands at the ready, awaiting the onslaught of undead should they escape the chamber they were corralled within.
ACTION: Ready. Trigger: the first enemy she sees. BONUS ACTION: None MOVEMENT: 10ft east, so she's just behind Samosh in the corridor. REACTION: Attack with a javelin. To hit: 15 Damage: 8
((For expediency sake, anyone who is at a square adjacent to the one leading into the room can fire a ranged weapon at the zombies like Kaster and Threnody have done below.))
Bees scatters ball bearings in front of the door into the room, creating a treacherous surface for the zombies to traverse.
Samosh stands in front of the door and prepares to kick any of the zombies back into the fire if they get close enough.
Kaster maintains concentration on his flaming sphere, retreats a little to gain cover from the doorway and prepares to shoot any zombies that make it through the fire with his crossbow.
Liatris creates a helpful little mechanical fellow from scrap parts. It hangs from the ceiling and radiates an aura of well-being to anyone close enough.
Threnody prepares to skewer the first zombie she sees with a javelin.
The first zombie (F) that was in the fire shuffles forward toward Samosh. It manages to keep its feet among the ball bearings (DEX Save 16). Samosh attempts to kick it back into the fire (dealing 7 damage in the process). The zombie is kicked back, but it continues to shuffle forward until it's right next to Samosh, although it is looking very burned and beaten now. It still manages to keep its feet (18). It tries to slam into the monk but nearly falls over instead (13 to hit, miss). Kaster peeks around the corner long enough to release his crossbow bolt into the zombie, killing it.
The next zombie (B) shuffles into the flaming sphere. It slips on the ball bearings and falls prone. It expends half its movement to stand back up and steps onto the body of its recently fallen comrade. It attempts to slam into Samosh (17 to hit for 7 damage). Threnody peers around the corner long enough to throw a javelin at the zombie, which pierces deeply but it manages to remain standing for now.
Like a zombie conga line, another zombie (A) pushes into the flaming sphere. This zombie slips and falls on its face too, using half its movement to stand back up, just in time to get roasted by the flaming sphere (7 fire damage). ((Here is some appropriate music for this scene.))
The rest of the zombies can't go anywhere so they stand around and moan piteously.
When Samosh was struck, those paying close enough attention could swear they saw some type of magical barrier appear briefly, before soundlessly shattering like glass after having softened the impact, leaving no trace of its existence.
Meanwhile, in that brief glance back at the "elf", Threnody just sees Liatris looking up at the strange contraption with a faint smile and general look of approval on her face. Though the moment Threnody yells, Liatris gaze flits down to the tiefling for a heated glare at the back of the paladin's head. "Ignore Joyboy One. Focus on the dead, and please refrain from yelling." She sharply requests. She then took a moment close her eyes and compose herself, before clicking her tongue and curtly saying something in some alien tongue. There was little hearing it as anything other than a sharply spoken command meant for the construct however, which does its little jig again before releasing another pulse of energy.
Then with a sharp flick of the wrist, Liatris appears to cast a spell, but... nothing seems to come of it. Even so, she remained nonplussed and carried on holding her current position for now.
Bonus Action: Re-activate Protector Drone, granting 9 Temp HP to Samosh, Kaster, Bees, and Threnody. (Note: Temp HP does not stack, but the greater amount will replace the lower amount if you still possess THP from previous pulse)
There is so much going on and Kaster is aware of so little of it. Oh he knows stuff is going on but he is so focused on this spell and maintaining it and maybe, just maybe, reloading his crossbow and firing it again that he has no real brain power left over to think about weird contraption or people yelling about not yelling...
((I'm giving Kaster a 50/50 chance to be able to maintain concentration on spell AND reload, aim and fire crossbow... So odds he does both, evens he fumbles the bolt and only maintains spell... rolling D100 in game log: 07, he manages both!))
Bonus Action: No point in moving the sphere as it seems to be damaging the most zombies possible where it is... Action: Crossbow vs Zombie B - 8to hit for 5piercing damage (Dis due to being in melee range) Movement: none Concentration: round 3 of 10 of Flaming Sphere
"Good idea, Bees!" Threnody shouts back over the din of battle, watching the preposterous dance of zombies shambling through a searing ball of fire, toppling over with squelching thuds on bearing balls, then stubbornly marching forward - only to be kicked and skewered to death.
She closes one eye to focus her aim, bounces the next javelin in the palm of her hand to measure its weight, and then hurls it at the nearest undead's rotting skull. The halfling's advice proves fruitful, as the javelin splits the zombie through its remaining eye, sending chunks of bone and brain matter splattering across the corridor like a smashed gourd.
"Everyone clear the way and move down once you've taken your shot!" She yells, even louder than earlier, just to spite Liatris. Nevertheless, she feels a burst of energy course through her veins, revitalising her in preparation for a wave of undead that manages to break through the line.
ACTION: Attack with Javelin. To hit: 26 (nat 20!) Damage: 18 (max damage on a critical!) BONUS ACTION: None. MOVEMENT: 15ft east, vacating space for the next attacker. OTHER: 2 of 5 javelins used.

Samosh shrugs and is willing to wait for the bad guys to come to them. No point taking bruises if the zombies will cooperate and burn themselves up.
However, if one decides to come within range, he will try to kick it back into the fire.
