You all embrace the corridor just to turn left, and then left once again. In front of you a ten-foot-deep, empty pit completely fills the passageway and extends so far as to make jumping across it impossible for most creatures.
Is the other side of the pit visible in the lantern's light? Trying to get a distance check on the pit, as Lumiere can run across vertical surfaces (the walls) rather than go into the pit.

With the presumption that somebody will help lower me into the pits, I'll go down and look around. Then we can boost each other out and haul the last person out.

Lumiere will run across the wall (Monk ability: Unarmoured Movement Improvement) to the other side to give light to that side. She will then unhook the rope from her pack so she can offer a lift up to anyone that is walking in the pit.
(Sorry, here I am. I suppose Ubogri is going down the pit as well)
Lumiere goes a little bit back and starts running towards the pit just to jump onto the wall at the last second. She then proceeds to run on the wall safely getting across the pit.
All the others go down into the pit. Avoiding the spikes Falmo, Ubogri and Jerigg proceed forwards until the end searching for everything that catches their attention. Almost at the end of the pit, though, Ubogri notices something strange. It looks like there's a pressure plate in the last 5 feet of the pit, preventing you from reaching the rope that Lumiere dropped for you.

Yes, distance, please. If Ubogri can find a grasshopper (or at least a leg), he can cast jump on all four of us.
