"Oh, thank you very much! Lliira puts the nicest people in my path, you see Leo." Rin turns his attention back to the lady saying, "I do have one thing I would like to ask. I see you are closing, but if you would not mind, I would like to purchase a longsword, if you have one. I can give you this morning star and spear, plus gold. The morning star belonged to the bug bear that had stolen all your things."
The woman looks over the weapons with a knowing eye. "These are in good shape. Lightly used, and no blade to dull. I'll consider that an even trade since you have saved me so much trouble. Hold here one second, and shout if the Redbrands approach." She quickly unlocks and darts back inside. You here some clanking inside, and before you can even react she pops back out with a longsword. "This is the best one I have. Pretty finely balanced."
"This Gundren Rockseeker," Ordrin blurts, looking for a chair in Thornton's home. "A dwarf. Taken to Cragmaw Castle. Do you know him? And where we might find the castle?"

"I met him once. He came in to the mining exchange asking about abandoned quarries and mines nearby. I'm in the mining business! Why would I go telling other's this kind of knowledge? Foolish dwarf! No disrespect intended, of course.", she says, flashing a smile.
"I have heard of Cragmaw Castle, but could not tell you where to find it. I *do* know, however, that the Redbrands have a goblin minion amongst their ranks who might know that sort of thing. Perhaps we could arrange a deal? The Redbrands are a plague, and even though they leave me alone it affects business. I wish their leader disposed of. I could offer you the location of their stronghold in exchange for this favor, and when you return with proof that the one they call Glasstaff is dead along with any correspondence found in his chambers."
"Formidable I am, aye, but I'm no assassin, miss. I have devoted my strength," he says, pulling out the holy symbol hanging from his neck as proof, "to Mighty Moradin! The most strong and noble god - strong for his might and noble for his righteousness! The All-Father had given me gifts of healing and through his powerful powers I bring aid and guidance to others! Aye, even humans." Ordrin tucks the symbol of Moradin back under his leathers. "So, what has this Glasstaff done that we need to crack his head?"

"I presume holier than thou Toblen told you about Thel Dendrar? Straight executed him in front of a crowd. The Redbrands act by his command. They are his fist. Make no doubts about the mind and evil behind them though; The louts would not have acted without approval, which tells you they have been given permission to kill those who step out of line. It is dirty work, but the punishment for murder in this neck of the woods is execution. Even if you ignore the rest of their deeds, and whatever else Glasstaff may have done, his fate is death one way or the other. It is dirty work but surely a follower of mighty Moradin can see how the law applies here, and can see the foulness of one who consorts with goblins."
Rin's eyes grow wide looking over the blade of the longsword. His tail twitches back and forth excitedly. He holds it with one hand and makes a few circles of 8 with it, a bit clumsily. In fact, it doesn't look like he's ever held a sword of this size before. "This is very nice indeed. May Lliira bring you peace and happiness. Is there anything I, or my companions, can do for you? You mentioned the redbrands. We heard terrible things about them, do they bother you?"
Anton, having been silent up to this point, chimes in, "Hmm. So you want us to kill someone for you that we have no connection to, on the basis that these Redbrands are a menace to the town? From what I've seen, they do appear to be feared, but killing someone who has not threatened us on the basis of one person's word is not something to be done lightly. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I have a problem killing under the right circumstances, nor do I have any particular reason to mistrust you, but you must understand that this is not a trivial ask."

"Aye. They bother everyone, except for Halia - and i'm sure there's something shady about that; there always is with that one. She's an ambitious one. Best to avoid the Sleeping Giant if you don't want trouble. That's where they hang out. Harbin, the useless tit, won't do anything about them."

Halia pats the dwarf on the shoulder: "That's ok, I can understand the revulsion it bring up in one as noble as yourself". Turning to address Anton, Halia says "I understand your pause, and I would be troubled about keeping your company were you eager to jump at the task. What would you suggest? This man Glasstaff assuredly has nefarious connections. On the off-chance someone captured him alive and he faced trial, do you think he would face justice? Do you think a man who orchestrates murder so blatently this close to Neverwinter does not have a back-up plan? I'd wager good money he has the Lord's Alliance bought and paid for myself.
Perhaps I have misjudged the prowess and moral compass of you and your companions? Are you the mercenary sort? If the pleas of innocent lives aren't a concern to you, perhaps my offer of 100 gold is not generous enough? "
"Oh, Halia. I know that name. Our other friends went to talk to her. We are looking for a friend of theirs, a Dwarf named Gundrin. He was taken by the same group of goblins that took your stuff. They said he is in Cragmaw Castle but we know not where that is." Rin puts the longsword in the loop on his back where the spear once was. "You are a friend of Rin, and a friend of Llirra as well. We will keep an eye out for the redbrands, and if they give you any trouble, please come tell us. We are staying at the Stonehill Inn."
He offers a furry hand saying, "It has been very nice to talk with you." before heading towards where the rest of the group is with Halia.
"I did not mean to suggest that the plight of the good folk here in Phandelin are not a concern. The stories I've heard about these Redbrands in our short few hours here have been uniform in portraying them as ruthless thugs. I hesitate only because I respect the law and the principle of seeking justice through the proper means. But perhaps you are right; if the Redbrands have corrupted the law then there may be no other choice than what you suggest. Still, there are two more in our group who are not here now, and in a group of five setting out on a dangerous mission, 100 gold in equipment and supplies may not go very far. What are you suggesting instead?"

I can't say i've heard of it and if goblins are involved I don't want to. Is that wagon by inn yours? I'd guard that or get it off your hands before the Redbrands do. I'm asusming it is for Barthen -- the crates have his look on them. He's closed up for the night but he sleeps above the store so i'm sure you could complete your business with him.

Halia's eyes twinkle and a smile crosses her face. A man after my own heart, knowing where profit is to be found! I suppose you are right, and i is worth more than 100 gp to be rid of hi...them. I can pay you 100 gold now, and 20 gold each upon returning with proof of his demise, and any correspondence from him you find there. That's the best i'll offer. If you aren't interested i'll find someone else.
OoC: Since i joined late, i'm not sure what the story is with the wagon/Barthen. If the group was delivering the wagon load to Barthen, then I can assume Leo lets's Rin know about that and we'll make that our next stop rather than looking for the other group.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OoC: Did a number get cut off there? "I'll pay you gold now and 20 gold each upon returning..." Also can I make an insight check to see if that correction she made seems to reflect her hiding something?

Oops! I adjusted it. 100 now, 20 each later.
You get the feeling there is something else in this for Halia aside from getting the town safe again.

Ok. That's correct -- the group was delivering a wagon to Barthen's supplies for Gundren/Sildar.

Ordrin spits on the floor and smiles. "A murderer and a law breaker? That's why Moradin gave me two fists!"
He looks down. "Ach, sorry, lass," he says as he tries to wipe up the goober with his sleeve.

Rin and Leo will head back to the Inn to make sure the wagon is ok.
"There's one hundred very good reasons, my honorable friend," Ordrin says to Anton. "Might we see a wee bit of that gold, lass?"
