As the creature reveals itself, a single huge green eye in the center of its face, Anton remarks, "When I said we wanted to 'look you in the eye' I thought it was just a figure of sp... AAARHRHH"
OoC: Does Anton know its position? I assume the 12 earlier was its hide check and his passive perception is 14, though that might be affected by the lighting conditions...
OoC: Also, mechanical question: I know we're not in initiative order right now, but is this thing able to do whatever that was and also hide in a single turn? Or would we potentially have a chance to do something in between if we wanted?
As bits of flesh fall from Anton's body he yells out in agony. He growls, raising his flail and says, "Alright, that's it. We tried to play nice." Unless someone wants to hold him back he's going to try to attack this thing now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Anton!" Rin calls out and attempts to track the creature's movement into the shadows. 15 +3 for perception, or +2 for investigation
OoC - Rin's passive perception is 13, which is higher than the creature's stealth roll, so maybe he automatically know where is he?
Based on the outcome the above, if Rin can target the creature he will unleash a crackling bolt of green eldritch energy at it. Eldritch Blast: Attack: 13 Damage: 10
Given it's his environment and he's actively hiding i'll need a perception roll to find him (for now). Rin has a rough idea where it is. Green is where you are, red is the generally area of the Nothic. Squares are 5 feet.
This steep-sided fissure is 5 to 10 feet wide and 20 feet deep. Its rough walls are easily climbed. The bridges are made of wooden blanks and have no rails.
And since, it's been a few pages since we entered:
A cold breeze fills this large natural cavern, carrying with it the faint scent of decaying flesh. A crevasse divides the cavern and is flanked by two rough stone columns that support the twenty-foot-high ceiling. Two arched wooden bridges span the chasm.
Leo, of all people, also tries to keep Anton behind, quickly justifying it.
"If you need someone to stop it, let me do it, you can come too later, just wait to let those magic users help you recover from your injuries, you seem badly damaged, and I'd not want you to hurt yourself more."
Leoneiros goes foward, even without knowing the creature's position, and starts searching for it.
(To be specific, going the further in he can, without crossing neither of the bridges at first.)
At Leo and Ordrin's urging, Anton's face relaxes slightly. "If you say so. Don't worry about my injuries, I'll be fine." He closes his eyes for a moment and inhales deeply. As he does, some of his flesh begins to heal before the others' eyes. (Second Wind: 6 HP healed) It wasn't magic but an onlooker would be forgiven for thinking it was, for how quickly it occurred.
"I thought we were making progress. Why would it do that to me?"
As Leo goes off searching, he calls out, "Leo, it's right behind there!" pointing to the pillar.
Ordrin is awed and afraid to see the firbolg stride in the direction of the creature. Seeking to do something to help he runs to hide behind the near pillar and talks to himself frantically. "What can we do? What can we do? That's a mighty big eye on that head of teeth. So many teeth, dear Moradin! And each one sharper than his brother! But that big eye, probably to see in dark. We need light. Something bright. Ach! And me mum told me 'Ordrin, bring a torch. You might think that all caves are your home but a torch can really come in handy now and again.' But meself was like 'Aw, Mum. What does a dwarf need of a torch?' I was. I was 'Mum, I need some room for me sweet root. Where am I supposed to put a torch?' And they're so oily, I canno' stand that oil on me sweet root. But now I could really use a torch." Ordrin chews on his beard, kicking himself for not listening to his mother. "Does somebody have a torch?!" he yells. "Throw it across the pit!"
OoC: Ordrin will hold his turn for if someone lights a torch, whether or not they throw it. Then he'll cast Thaumaturgy and brighten it for one minute.
Rin looks at delta and says, "This thing hurt our friend, it is blood for blood now, is it not?" before turning and shouting into the cavern, "You will be our crunch and munch!"
OoC - Depending on initiative order, I'll throw a torch if no one else has gotten to it yet.
Rin recoils in shock momentarily before steadying himself again. "That is a lot of spines, and claws, and...eye..."
CON save: 5
OoC: Hoo boy.
