Elf's perception vs. Ian's 11: 18
Ian attempts to sneak up on the dark elf, but his movement through the small stream catches his target's attention at the last minute. Quick as a flash, however, Ian jabs with his rapier and slashes with his dagger. Both weapons find their mark in the elf's flesh. (-12 hp) The attack also catches the bugbear's attention, who turns to see what the commotion is. (He's still surprised this round, but he can't be attacked by anyone with advantage for being hidden.)
Where did you move to on the map, Ian? Just tell me which block in relation to the elf.
HDP and Rock are up. HDP has a higher DEX and should move first, but since Rock is in front of him, it will save HDP a little bit of movement (moving through a friend is difficult terrain) if Rock goes first. So, both of you go ahead and post, and I'll apply Rock's post first.
HDP will move just outside of the tunnel, and to the left (first available space). He considers using the crossbow, but instead at the last minute decides to cast a spell in order to make Ian's life easier, and maybe Rock's as well.
HDP casts Faerie Fire (20 foot cube, catching both the Bugbear and the Dark Elf - and any creature we cant see in that 20 foot cube). DC-13 DEX save. On a failure, they are both lit up in blue light, and ANY ATTACK ROLL has advantage! Lasts for a minute (10 rounds)
Elf save (DC13 DEX): 16; bugbear save (DC13 DEX): 16
Rock and HDP quickly follow Ian out of the small cave, HDP passing by the stalling Gruxx. Rock heads toward the bugbear as HDP slides in behind Ian. Just after Ian finishes poking and slicing into the elf, Gruxx brings his greataxe down on the bugbear. The bugbear tries to bring his shield up, but the wolfish dragonborn gets past, leaving a bloody mark where his weapon cut. HDP melodically speaks an arcane phrase, and a cloud of blue lights fills the space around and between the elf and the bugbear. The targets are somehow able to escape the magic, however, and the blue light disappears completely except for a faint dusting of blue light on the cave floor.
Glynquinal seeing his friends on the move slides past Gruxx to occupy D3. Lining up with HDP, he levels his loaded crossbow at the dark elf. Once he has fired the crossbow, he will draw Talon.
Glyn's arrow pierces the elf's side, appearing to lodge between two ribs. The elf hisses in response, appearing to consider wrenching the projectile from its flesh. Glyn drops his bow and draws his sword.
Ian attacks with both of his weapons once again, but now that the dark elf knows the short elf is there, the rogue has trouble landing either blow. But seeing Gruxx leave a vulnerable opening with his reckless attack, the dark elf aims two jabs with its own rapier at the barbarian. (Attack: 16 Damage: 10 & Attack: 9 Damage: 6; fumble: 15 — sorry! forgot to roll with advantage ... 19 & 16) Both lunges make contact with the human (16 dmg / 2 = 8 total), but the barbarian's rage reduces the damage.
Ian is rolling stealth, moving up, and attacking with rapier.
Stealth at Disadvantage: 11
Rapier to hit: 23
Rapier damage: 9
Offhand Dagger to hit: 21

HDP and then Rock are up!
Before HDP goes, DDP, what kind of armor are the enemies wearing? Are either of them wearing any metal armor?
Doesn't look like it. The elf appears to be wearing leather if anything. The bugbear has hide armor.
HDP looks around, and sees that Gruxx is bleeding pretty heavily, and he casts Healing word for 9 healing for Gruxx to keep him in the fight.
Rock, you're up!
