Velon is pleased that so many listened and worked together to fire a ranged volley at the shadows, regardless of the result yet to be revealed as the remnants of the fireball dissipate. Such small victories keep his hope alive that the Blaze can indeed work together. Watching Cratol's shot Velon remarks "oooooh" with a cringe. "Ah well, it is good that you have been practicing. Numb fingers on a bow can't help. I'm still not very good with any fire magic that actually requires aim myself. I've been too busy learning to dodge." He winks at Lia with that comment. "Keep up the practice though, Cratol, well done. Surely one of these dragons will think to fly when fighting us, one of these days, and we'll need such options. Perhaps it will be the red we were told of, or Lia's latest suitor if he turns on us." There is another wink for the lovely lady of Sune.
The fireball detonates amongst the shadows. Most die instantly, of those that remain, most are taken down by the arrows and magical bolts that come flying in afterwards. The last one still up retreats out of sight.
Mari doesn't find anything on the door to her right. Opening it, she percieves another hallway, much like the one the group is in.
Poljen looks down the newly opened hall, and the one with the doll in it. "So, left or right? If we go left, is someone going to blast that creep doll on the floor first?"
"Don't worry guys, I know how to check if this is a real doll or if it's a trap doll," Perry announces proudly. He pulls from his pocket his signature harmonica and plays a note. Suddenly, appearing from a purple mist shroud, is what appears to be a purple block with a large golden letter "P" on it. The toy block lands in the Bard's hand.
He tosses the block at the creepy doll, aiming to knock it over.
Perry squints his eyes at the doll in a suspicious manner. After a pause that is just a little too long, he speaks up, "Well, let's go down the other hallway then. Our top priority needs to be the safety of the children!"
Velon raises an eyebrow at Perry's concern for 'the children' but says nothing. Regarding going down the way Mari found he says "I suppose we can check it." "I'm still unsure of how to get to the middle of this place to find the throne room." He nods at Mari to lead the way down the new passage and away from the doll. The paladin looks back at it and gets an extra shiver up his spine.
Poljen says, "Maybe the stupid doll is supposed to scare us into going down this other hall. Then again maybe the fact it is not a trap itself is supposed to lure us into a false sense of security so we go down that hall past it." He frowns. "Too much, what do you call it, logic? For me, at any rate. Let's go, Mari." With that he resumes following the rogue down the hallway to the west.
Lia stares at Velon for a moment making it seem that she might be upset. She allows a smike to break through through. " Why Velon...I thonk you might be jealous of my new friend. No need to worry. His fashion sense is so outdated. " She winks at him. Looking over to Perry she says, " I doubt there are any children alive in this place my friend. He seeks to always keep us off our guard. "
Mari nods at the others and looks back at the dolll for an instant. " Ok... here we go " She will head down the other passageway she discovered away from the menace of the sinister doll.
Morgaine will be near the back as she follows the others away from the doll. She will keep her longsword and shield at the ready as well as looking back every so often for any trouble that may come from behind the group.
Cratol still brings up the rear with Morgaine with him now. Like her he will keep a eye out behind them to make sure nothing is coming towards them from the other hall. HE will let the others know if he sees or hears anything.
Perception rolls for watching the hall behind them Rolled a 13 and a 15 + 7 makes them 20 and 22 to spot or hear anything if there is something there.;
The group heads down the passage. Mari gets to the corner. There's a door to her right, another to her left down the hall, and beyond it, a familiar looking doll sits in the middle of the passage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mari curses upon seeing the doll again. " Well, we cant go right now. Do we take the door to the left or walk on past the doll. Im thinking that we should go past the doll. It is being used to deter us from that pathway. Im going to look closer at this doll while everyone discusses this. "
She moves up close to the doll and stays on the balls of her feet in preparation for a quick departure. Mari studies the doll closely for a moment.
Lia looks at the doll with a sick feeling. She holds her amulet up high and prepares to call down fire upon the doll if needed.
Mari shakes her head after studying the doll further. " Ignore the doll Our host is trying to frighten us and hope we make bad choices in fear. Just ignore it and we will go righr past it. " She strides carefully past the doll and down the passage.
Lia shrugs at this and iies to hide the goosebumps on her arms. She watches for any sign of trouble as they continue onward.
When Velon looks around the corner to see what appears to be the same doll he gets a bit nervous for a second and just exclaims "ohhhhh boy". He is tempted to blast the doll just to see what happens but has faith in Mari and lowers his gauntleted hand. Hearing her words he shrugs and walks past the doll to help watch his friend's back. The paladin notes "this looks like exactly the same hallway again." Taking another second to think he offers for consideration "if I were a wizard, I might suggest this pattern will repeat when we open a door, maybe forever." He brightens up and jokes "good thing I'm not a wizard, eh?!"
Hearing about the doll again Cratol looka back at the shut door before following the rest of the group as we make a decision as to which way to go. Keeping a eye behind them he is watchful to make sure they are not surprised from behind. Knowing they all heard the door shut he will still tell them it is shut and nothing dangerous is coming from that direction that he can see.
Morgaine hearing the door shut behind her shudders a bit and looks back briefly to make sure nothing is behind them. She will help Cratol with keeping an eye out for any dangers that may spring up from that way. She is relieved to not see anything that came through the door before it shut. As she looks forward and sees the doll again, she will stay away from it as much as possible even it means going single file down the hallway or even hugging the wall as she follows the rest of the Silver Blaze. Moving onward up the hallway as Mari and Poljen and not far behind her lead the way.
Mari walks straight past the doll, and nothing happens. Geode steps on the doll as he walks past and still nothing happens.
She gets further down the passage, which bends to her left. A small access door is just around the corner. There's no sign of more dolls or any kind of trouble.
Mari nods in satisfaction as her intuition paid off. She walkscautiously up to the door and checks it before opening it. The rogue will unlock it if necessary.
Lia shakes her head at Velon and smiles. Her sense of unease passes as the doll is left behind She still keeps a close eye on their surroundings.
