After letting the men answer Benagal, Liet will again settle down to rest. This time he is tired, and will let someone else take the watch. In the morning he will share everything he's learned with McFuddy, and will lead the group towards the mountains.
Ooc: sorry but I just read it right now, if we can do a little flashback, I have a question
“ehy, you, but in the end what does your chief want with all these armbands and all? Is he working for someone or what?!”
"What does any man want? Riches. The armbands are only a means to an end for him. As far as working for someone else... Not to my knowledge. But rumors are floating around that something... Unholy.... Gave him those bands in exchange for.. something. I don't know... They're only rumors from drunkards...."
A quiet, still morning peeks through the gaps in the trees, lighting the entrance to the cave. A thin mist covers the area, but the late spring warmth will certainly burn it away eventually. Everyone has their rations, packs up, and heads back out onto the trail leaving the cave behind.
((For the record, you were 1 day North of the cabin. The man said travel North 2 days from the cabin until you see a boulder on the side of the path.))
As you wander down the path, the stillness of the morning creeps into midday, then afternoon. The forest is unusually quiet, but at least the mist dissipated as predicted. As oranges and dull reds paint the sky between the branches, you come across a large boulder. Without a doubt, this is what the man spoke of. Now... to find the secret path he mentioned...
((one person roll perception or survival, at advantage, as everyone is helping.))
((there is no good place to camp, assuming you want to break for the night you'll have to make due, otherwise you can press on in the dark and hope for a better spot))
Seeing the boulder Liet says "This must be what he meant! I'm glad he wasn't lying to us!" As they sit down for a break Liet will pass out a Goodberry from casting it last night to each adding "Though it's not the most comfortable... I think we should camp under the trees here. McFuddy, Benagal, and I don't see too well in the dark..."
1d20ad = 15; +5 perception or +3 survival, whichever you think is the best fit for our situation
The group sets up camp a short walk from the boulder and away from the paths. The dark of night sets in, and it is pitch black all around you, as you've not made a fire. You all take your shifts standing watch. A couple of times, some odd noises in the distance can be heard, but nothing approaches your camp. Morning breaks, and everyone is well rested, ready to continue on the path toward their meeting with the 'demon of the mine'.
The party snacks on preserved foods for breakfast as you all walk in order to save time. Who knows how long it will take to get to the destination. About an hour into the walk, Liet, who is in the front of the group stops suddenly, eyes wide. He points to something on the ground, and as the rest of you gather around, you notice the faint outline of a large circle in the middle of the path. One of you tosses a large dead branch in the middle, and the top of a pit trap falls away. It is about 10 feet deep with long, sharp, wooden spikes at the bottom. It surely would have hurt if Liet did not spot it first.
((DM pause here for you all to converse about what to do, it seems you're getting close))
Seeing the trap Liet yells out "stop!" and throws the branch in. Seeing the ground fall in he says "that was meant for anyone who isn't a member... And those bastards didn't tell us... Anyway... We must be getting close. How should we approach?"
Seeing Benagol wake up and volunteer to go ahead Liet stops him saying "Friend, I think I'm much more quiet than you are. Let me go ahead and scout." He then starts to walk ahead along the path, and just before going out of sight will change into a cat and scout ahead. stealth7; perception1 (passive 15 - and forgot to add the 5 to this one... but it's a nat 1... so....)
As the flietline walks the path, he hears a crack of something in the distance. As Liet continues to walk on padded paws, eyeing the gaps in the trees, he doesn't pay much attention to what is below him. A thin wire crosses the path, and he tugs on it as he walks past.
Just dodging the trap Liet, as a cat, looks ahead to see if there are any caves around. At most he walks for 30 min to get back before he turns back into a halfling.
After tugging the wire, a rope rustles from underneath Liet and almost catches his furry pay by the ankle. He deftly hops to the side as the rope flies up, and smacks into a nearby tree.
Liet walks the 30 minutes, sees nothing out of place aside from the second trap. The trail continues on, but he returned to the group so he wouldn't revert back to a halfling mid trail.
It's late-ish morning now, and you are all still gathered on the trail.
Returning to the group Liet says "There are more traps along the road, but it goes on much further... I wasn't able to find the cave. I think we should all just go on together, but try to be quiet, and keep a good look out for traps." looking around the group he asks "Did McFuddy fly off?"
As you ask about McFuddy, you notice a few feathers on the ground. There is a faint rustling of leaves nearby that only Liet can hear. A moment later there is a soft, airy gasp from the direction of the leaves, then an audible CRUNCH breaks the forest's silence.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Steve looks down and notices his left hand has begun to shake again. It is nearly imperceptible -such a small subtle twitch. But if one actually focused their attention to it, the hand would look blurry, lacking a definite outline. This happens. Steve doesn’t know why. But it happens. It’s embarrassing, really. As always, Steve tries to hide his hand from the others (deception 14). As he does, he can feel the blood leaving his fingertips. They are cold, tingle, and then gone. He steals a glance at his hand again.. his nails are softly glowing. He is ready. But “it” is ready more than he is. It wants out. It wants what it always wants -chaos. ****. Steve, pulling his hand into his sleeve, turns to Frenivir trying to smile (deception 23)... “Huh-ha. Yes well, that spook you now? Mm hm. Yeah.. I’m sure it is just our flying friend scouting about. Nothing to fear. Yes yes. But let’s take it slow now, just to be safe.” Steve crouches down and tries to take cover in the brush on the side of the path (stealth 9).
((just talked to Kev... sez slight of hand would be more appropriate. I’m just learning the difference. Let’s do slight of hand, so -1 to each. Also, he says to keep one roll per skill check per post. Cool. But if it is ok, i wanted to make it difficult to succeed here. Kinda want to get steve’s affliction a chance to become topical.. dunno. I’m a noob. Feel free to tell me how it b))

“This will do fine. Let’s not light a fire, and we should find some cover though. I think we are getting near.”
It takes a couple of minutes of searching around, but about 10 feet away off the path you see another path that was poorly hidden.
((Assuming the others agree to break here... will Liet be using the candle again? Will anyone else be using the magic blindfold?))

“From here we aught to send a scout. Who’s up for it?”
Altough he can be quite good at scouting, Benagol touches his moustaches and looks in the air.
He is not really inclined but in the end he sees that nobody is offering:
"Screa it, i'll go"
