"Yes, do that. I can give you my Goddess's guidance and sanctuary. You should be safe and silent then."
((Sanctuary wards the creature against attack))
((Guidance and Sanctuary both only last one minute. Liet would have 60 seconds to find, survey, and come back... I can tell you now that it won't be nearly enough. The smell is faint enough that it is obvious to Liet the origin for the fire is not very close.))
As you all discuss what to do, please make a perception check.
Ruhkis patiently waits for the halfling and human to discuss options while scanning the road for a tail.

Casting Message, the dwarf tells McFuddy: Thehalfling smells the smoke from a fire and is about to investigate on his own. Provide overwatch as you deem necessary.

NALLA
Perception: 12
(With disadvantage because I'm exhausted)
Nalla pulls out her two Handaxes and waits cautiously, straining her eyes in the darkness as she watches where Liet used to be. It's been so long since she's fought and she's afraid of where her mind will go when the times comes, but she reminds herself that this is for the betterment of Caer Blaine so she must do this.
Just as Liet starts to step off into the woods he stops dead in his tracks. The small campfire he lit flickers in the wind, making the shadows of the surrounding trees dance wildly. Among the dancing shadows, he catches a glimpse of a pair of feral eyes staring back at him. They quickly disappear back into the darkness.
The crunch of a twig.
Liet turns in time to see another pair of eyes fade into the night.
The wind picks up for a moment, breathing life into the fire, spreading its glow just a little bit further. Just far enough for the halfling to see a third set of eyes across the dirt path attempting to hide behind a bush. The group is surrounded.
The wind dies back down, shrouding the area in dim light yet again, obscuring all the eyes from view.

Would instantly jump up so I am 15 feet in the air, draw my bow, nock an arrow until I see the beast, as soon as I lock on, I wont hesitate to release the arrow. Attack: 9 Damage: 10
(if possible also a perception or survival check to see if I notice any other creatures in the area.) possible perception/survival 6 (both are +4)
(future turns are me shooting arrows until i am out, or they are dead, trying to place the arrows in a part of the body as to not hit the organs. I hate having feet touch the ground so it would take a lot to get me to land)

You have advantage on Survival checks to track your favored enemies, as well as on INT checks to recall information about them. You also learn one language of your choice that is spoken by your favored enemies, if they speak one at all.
Beasts
Beasts are nonhumanoid creatures that are a natural part of the fantasy ecology. Some of them have magical powers, but most are unintelligent and lack any society or language.
Primordial
Natural ExplorerPHB91
You have a favored terrain type. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for proficient skills when you make an INT or WIS check related to it. While traveling for an hour or more in your chosen terrain, difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel, your group can’t become lost except by magical means, you remain alert to danger even when you are engaged in another activity, you can move stealthily at a normal pace (while alone), you find twice as much food while foraging, and while tracking creatures, you learn the exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
Having taken a step towards the forest, but then seeing the eyes around him, and then losing them, Liet will jump back in the group of his friends saying "There's something out there! A few somethings in fact! Be ready friends!"
((I'm the only one holding any light correct? So if I throw my flame at an enemy the light would go out, and we'd be blind until I cast a new one? Assuming this is true, and assuming that most of the party have (unlit) torches on their packs - Liet doesn't carry any as he has his own light))
Liet, darting back into the center of the group will jump up to Theos' pack, grab a torch from it, light it with his Flame, and stick it into the ground. ((that's the action I had from my perception roll, now to initiative. Also, torch light is bigger than Flame light, so the area of our vision should grow a bit, perhaps illuminating what's out there.))
((I've got to sleep soon so I'll just say what Theos will do with his turn))
Theos will cast "Spare the Dying" on any character who reaches 0 hp. He will also go into melee with his mace and shield, and will cast "Shield of Faith".
As soon as the torch is lit and in the ground, you can it brightens the area quite a bit. The new light enables the group to see three wolves, now in plain view, circling the party. The moment the wolves realize they were seen, one leaps toward the group heading straight for Liet, likely because he appears to be the easiest/smallest target. As the wolf closes the gap between the two, it leaps into the air, fangs bared. McFuddy sees this just in time to loose an arrow cleanly into the side of the creature midair. It forgets about its quarry as it emits a howl of pain as it stands next to Liet. It turns to run away, this prey isn't worth the fight. ((Liet AND Theos make an oppurtunity attack as it flees)).
The remaining two seem undeterred despite the failed attempt of their packmate. The sprint in tandem, targeting Liet yet again. The first attempts to shirk quickly around Kevelor. With a loud grunt, and and strong upward thrust, his greatsword cleaves the head of the nearest. The second, unknowingly now alone, continues past Kevelor. Across the group Ruhkis shoots forth an icy blast from his palm, covering the creature in a freezing spray that crystallizes, over it's fur. However, the animal came for a meal, and it was going to get one, it continues pushing forward, oblivious to the dire predicament it's in.
The creature locks eyes with Liet and desperately sprints again. Liet, after having lit the torch, releases the flame from his hand. The flame shrieks past the running wolf who deftly dodges to the side just a bit. Nalla reaches for her greataxe, but caught so suddenly by the events of combat becomes flustered and drops her weapon.
The wolf comes to a screeching halt as Theos steps in front of Liet to protect his small friend. The creature leaps up at the man, jaws open wide. With two maces drawn, he swings sideways, hitting the creature in the side and bashing it to the ground. The second mace comes down on the head of the prone creature, ending the job swiftly.
A wide-eyed Liet looks around Theos to see a macabre mess of blood and gore spread across the ground in front of them.

Liet, in the middle of all his friends, with a now lit torch sticking in the ground near him tries to take a deep breath, but his blood is still pumping. "wo...wow..."is all he's able to get out at first. "It all ha..happened to quickly." he manages to get out "One second I see eyes in the wood, and the next there is fur and teeth and gnashing and... and blood all over." He now looks over his group appreciating what each member of the party can do, and how as they say, there really is 'safety in numbers'.
Once the group calms down Liet will again light a Flame to hold in his hands, and first listen carefully for any sounds of anything other than them in the area. PERCEPTION: 9 ((after: guess the blood is still pumping too hard to hear much :P ))
"My friends... there is still a small fire not far from here... what are your thoughts." he asks the group. Feeling both strong and small at the same time.
((also, for Liet I'm not sure if he even could do anything as an AoO... he's carrying a shield in one hand, and the flame in the other. Though he is carrying a dagger, he doesn't really fight with it, and would have to pull it out before being able to swing with it. Not sure how object interactions work with reactions. Just fyi; though it's not likely things will be leaving melee from him very often of course.))
RE: perception roll - The only thing you can see is the dance of shadows against the trees and can only hear the wind and crackle of flame. The smell of smoke from the torch enters your nose, overtaking the faint smell that you had discovered earlier.
"Lets hope that the wolves are the worst things to find us this evening." Ruhkis sees Nalla a bit shaken and moves close to provide some reassurance. "Dogs weren't nothing to bloody yer axe on anyway," he says with a wink.
Turning towards the group, "Little one's right. The reason we stopped is still a reason. McFuddy...do you fancy making a wide perimeter check to see if you can pick up the scent of what alarmed Liet in the first place? I don't like the idea of leaving some unknown behind us."
Nudging the decapitated wolf head with the toe of his boot, Ruhkis looks at both Kevelor and Theos, "Well struck...both of you."

McFuddy
McFuddy still has his bow out, and probably will for the next little bit. He was impressed with the others way of handling the situation.
"He (Leit) handled just like I feared he would. And who would have thought her (Nalla) to also be an issue" he thinks to himself while flying very barely over the tree tops, just to look for a potential flicker of light in the distance. Perception roll 23
((if nothing then I would fly up to about double the height of the trees, and check again. perception check 8 )) ((If I see something of note on either checks, I would almost land (talons barely touching the ground, but no weight resting on them) and report what I saw, then would elevate up to about 5 feet off the ground again.)) ((If I see nothing, I would drop down to about 10 feet off the ground, and listen to party discussions)
(i'll come back and edit to clean up all the maybes, after DM posts)
McFuddy does, in fact, see something. Quite a ways a way there is a deep orange-red glow. If a fire large enough were to burn down to embers, this is what you would think it would look like from a distance. No other lights are seen on the horizon besides the stars. It is probable that what McFuddy saw was the source of the smoke Liet smelled.
It is quite far away, and he is unable to make an accurate guess at distance, or size.
Nalla picks up her handaxe from the ground and brushes off the dirt, visibly upset. Why did I leave the forge if I can't even hold an ax? I'm practically worthless out here. I need to focus! She thinks to herself. She grasps the handle firmly, determined that she'll be useful to the team next time.
Ruhkis addresses the Ranger, "Hey, McFuddy, these wolves normally found to be this aggressive in these parts?"
((Ruhkis would like to see if there is anything unique about the wolves, make sure there aren't any distinct markings on them and otherwise look for clues that would indicate the beasts are anything other than a random pack of wolves.))
Ruhkis patiently waits for the halfling and human to discuss options while scanning the road for a tail.
