The wolf happily ate the treat Velima bestowed him, wagging his tail furiously before trotting to join Jubilant. She stood before a modest-sized building, seemingly well-lit on the interior, with a few soft lulls heard coming from inside. Niner, Strife, and Damien took a backseat, so-to-speak, watching with caution to perceive what would happen. As she tapped on the door, she heard a voice from inside: "Now I wonder who that could be?" Suddenly the wolf, now standing beside Jubilant, barked at the door, before sitting and panting with his tongue hanging out. "Sounds like James, could be Frank." The door swung wide, revealing a dim, smoky atmosphere and a relatively thin, dark-haired man with a thick cigar in his hand. "It is James! And a friend, looks like! Welcome, weary travelers, to the Hogg's Respite Inn and Tavern!"A large man, with a curly grey moustache pushed the thin man out of the way, exclaiming "Don't do mah job for me, yah fool! Hello, there!"
The man looks down at Jubilant's tabbard, his eyes widening as he lay his gaze upon her emblem. "A Vorðr! Cragh, ye idiot, this be not a traveler, but a legendary hero! Aye, a welcome ye shall receive. Not many o' yer kind come this-a-way - nor many of any other kind! - but we know yer type, and ye shalll find home here." He steps away from the door, beckoning for you to enter.
So the wolves were friends of some sort with the tavern owners? That was both incredibly confusing and pretty adorable. She smiled warmly at the greeting, stepping inside. "Thank you so much, sir! Your friend—James, was it?" she said brightly, looking down at the wolf. With the large canine wagging his tail, he seemed significantly less frightening. "He lead us to your town. Several of my Vordr companions are here as well!" she added, motioning outside to where the others stood. "I know it's really late, but do you have any spare rooms? We could use a place to spend the night," she explained, reaching for her coin purse.

The jolly, grey-haired man gave way, leaving the door open as Jubilant and Niner clamored in. "Aye, I go by the name of Braghm, and the feller o'er there who greeted yeh, well that's me brother Cragh. This here's my tavern! I see James and ye have met already. He's a..." The man suddenly paused to stoop down and pick up an intricately carved wooden pipe, lighting its contents with a stray tinder. "James is, uh, a friendly pup. Only comes 'round late eve', though. But enough about us, brave Vorðr! Tell us about yourselves - for instance, why yer here!" He spoke loudly, letting out a hearty, bellyful laugh.
"We came out this way to deal with a dangerous monster. We've finished up our business—" Jubilant says, conveniently not explaining that they failed to find the monster they were looking for, "So we're heading back. This town is on the way so we thought we'd stop for a night's rest. Do you have rooms?"

Strife would cautiously make his way towards the inn hearing the friendly voices. making sure his hands and face were shrouded and hidden the best he could before approaching the inn. "Hello... I hope youn dont mind if I try to remain hidden.. Velima
Velima joined the others, she found this whole situation to be odd, the wolves, their behavior, and what was that presence she felt from them? Now there was a tavern filled with two brothers, something was amiss. Velima entered the establishment, nodding to the two brothers, but immediately began looking around for anything out of the ordinary. (Perception: 22)

*Friendly pups usually don't attack people out of nothing and then fall back to helping those it just attacked.* Niner thinks to himself. *And the way the man talks about the wolf and the overall situation is suspicious too. Is this some kind of trap or do they truly just want to help?*

"How comes that this town is not protected with walls and traps like most other settlements are? Do you posses an artifact capable of repelling the lurking evil or is there some other secret?" he then asks both brothers.
"Seems as though ye've had a long journey, travelers. Ya must be quite weary! Please, have yerself a seat and me brother'll run ya food and drink. No need to pay mind 'bout your visage, fair Vorðr, we be kin in this town! Wouldn't sell ye out to no fool lord." Braghm leaned down after taking a thick drag from his pipe, ruffling James's fur and 'talking' to him, while the party made themselves comfortable in the smoky tavern.
VELIMA
Brahm appears to be actually talking, quite literally, to James, and James seems to understand what Braghm says to him. The tavern is uncannily ornate, you immediately notice, and the scent of canáib is highly pungent in the room. Fine plates, silver tankards, tapestries, and paintings adorn the walls. Cragh seems to be eyeing the party, but as his gaze meets yours, he immediately breaks his stare and runs behind the counter to clean a few bar glasses. Behind the bar, your attention is turned towards a small, golden rod on display above the bar counter. The rod is decorated with black onyx gemstones, tapering off at one end into a sculpted human fetus, and a wolf head at the other.
There is an intricately woven tapestry on the wall, depicting a beautiful woman standing atop a hill next to a direwolf, and a mass of men worshipping her all the hill's base. The wall is lined with tankards and small barrels, and the tables seem very clean and sturdy. "Ah, and on the issue of a room - we've plenty, and ye may stay as long as ye like! We've few use for gold, on account o' not many pass through here, so ye have the run o' the place."
NINER
Braghm continually puffs on his pipe as Niner questions him, his eyes becoming low and his voice becoming deeper, and softer. "Ohh, you... Can't blame a beast for actin' a beast. As I said, not many folk come through. Yer a bit, unfamiliar to 'im." You detect a slight hint of uncertainty in his voice, though you can't really tell - it's late night, and the man appears to be, franly, high. "What'd we need walls fer? Ah, yea, the monsters... Well they don't really bother us none!" He stops, and chuckles lightly to himself, before continuing, "Maybe we're like Vorðr ourselves! Hah!"

"Thank you! We'll likely only trouble you the night. Is there a general store we can visit come morning?" At the mention of little need for gold, she shook her head insistently. Little need for money, perhaps, but traveling merchants surely passed through from time to time. She pulled out two gold pieces, holding them out to Braghm insistently. "I'm afraid if you don't take my coin I'll simply have to sleep out doors," she said with a grin.

You detect a distinctly arcane aura coming from this creature, as if his entire being were made of purely magical energy. You detect no ill will from Braghm, but he seems a bit absent-minded at times. Perhaps he hasn't noticed yet what you are.
"Hmm..." Braghm slowly pondered. "Well, fine, but if ye insist on payin' - we insist on ye stayin'. At least just fer another night! Let the good folk of Ridington take care of ye. Oh, sure, there's Belmont's Wares around the corner if yer lookin' fer some supplies. We've a nice library, too, little tower soon as you walk out the door and turn to go to town, can't miss it. Oh! And be sure to see our good tailor and cobbler team. They sew a fine cloth. Barry the Smithy does good work, too." Braghm took the from Jubilant, and stuffed it into his breast pocket. "'Fraid all we've for breakfast is mashed potatoes, but Belmont has a bit of a market. Fare ye a restful eve, Vorðr. Yer rooms are that way." He pointed to red door with gold decorations beside the bar, before disappearing around the corner.

A library? Gods, she loved nothing more than a good library. Some whimsical novels, some a bit smuttier than others, and she'd have a hell of a good time in this town. It might be worth it to visit the tailor and cobbler as well, just to get some warmer clothes, but she'd decided where her priorities lay. "Much thanks! See you all in the morning!" she said brightly. With that, she darted down the hall, shutting the door to her room as soon as Posie was inside. She peered around the room, looking out any windows there might be, using her Devil's Sight to see 120 feet into the darkness. Jubilant wasn't seeking anything in particular, just checking for any signs of general threat, or anything that might suggest her past had caught up to her. Perception: 2 So long as nothing seemed to be an immediate threat, she climbed into bed to curl up with Posie and sleep away the night.

Strife... still not entirely sure if it is safe to expose his face to these townsfolk, will continue to keep his features hidden the best he can. After studying the wolf for a bit, the brass scaled kobold will look James and crouch next to the wolf. The kobold would then place his hooded snout very near the ear of the wolf and whisper "Hey buddy... So how long you been a wolf? "It is always a gamble. We can only hope to meet hospitality in this town. Unfortunately my past proofed it to be quite rare."
Damien will stay with Niner and Strife watching from the back "So I wonder why the wolves led us here."
