ooc: Even if a weapon is finesse, don't i need to use Strength for throwing it still?
OOC: No
Finesse. When making an attack with a finesse weapon, you use your choice of your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls. You must use the same modifier for both rolls.

Keyleth takes advantage of the opportunity Kirinar's distraction provides to loose another arrow at the broad side of the dinosaur.

She then backs up into the brush and listens carefully in case any more creatures are approaching. (Perception: 14)

You can use a bonus action to make a Perception check to spot a hidden creature or object or to make an Investigation check to uncover or decipher clues.
(I'm not 100% sure listening for an approaching creature qualifies here, but figured I'd give it a shot)
Keyleth points out the cave and says, "Why don't I have a look inside --- scout out the place --- in case there's anything of interest in there? Stay close in case I run into trouble."
She heads into the cave quietly, eagle-eye goggles down, and takes a look around.

Perception (assuming there is some light coming in from outside): 19
Keyelth sneaks into the cave and while there is certainly some light she finds the passage turns. But being an elf with darkvision she is able to navigate safely down the passage.
She finds a single large room with some overturned tables, piles of garbage, torn up tents and busted crates. Someone used this a base camp at some point but it has long been abandoned or the occupants driven away. The room has been trashed and Keyleth smells the lingering odor of rotting flesh. But she does not see or hear anything.
Keyleth returns to the party and invites them to come in to examine the cave. She then reenters and takes a closer look at the detritus, ruffling through it and attempting to infer who it is that might have been using this cave, and how long ago it was abandoned. (While she's at it, she keeps an eye out for anything useful or valuable)
Kirinar will light a torch and follow. While Keyleth investigates the cave, the fighter will see if there is a way to block the entrance, thinking this could be a good camp site if they can keep the critters (and undead) out!) Survival: 12
Keyleth searches the room and in a corner under some rubbish she finds a turned over chest. It is scratched and clawed but unopened. Something or someone tried to get in it. It feels heavy when she rolls it over finding no traps. She finds it locked securely.

There is a gleam in her eye as Keyleth pulls a dusty folded leather pouch from a pocket sewn into the inside of her cloak. "I haven't had cause to use these this whole trip!" she says to no one in particular, as she draws a thin metal pick from the bottom fold and wipes it clean on her cloak. "Dr. Arbutaveyu, would your god care to guide my hand, seeing as I'm bound to be a bit rusty?" Putting a pointed ear to the lock, she maneuvers the pick and listens, her fingers responding to the subtle sounds of the pins...
Keyleth scowls as the lock seems to thwart her efforts. "Like I said, out of practice. Well, the finesse approach isn't working; should we try to bash the thing open?"
Kirinar walks over to the chest and examines it."Does anyone have a crowbar? Maybe something stashed in the cave we can use to pry the lid open? If not, I'm happy to see if I can bash it open..."
"Actually yes, I do have a crowbar!" Keyleth says, reaching into her backpack and pulling out a sturdy piece of black metal and handing it to Kirinar. "You probably ought to take the lead with the pushing."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kirinar takes the crowbar from Keyleth and smiles. "This should do. Thanks!" He finds a spot near the locking mechanism where he can slip one edge of the metal under the lid, then slowly pries upwards to get the chest open without destroying it...

Keyleth embeds an arrow into the beasts flank and the dinosaur falls dead. The jungle goes quiet again and you do not hear anything else approaching.
Looking around you realize there is a cave in the rocks on the north side of the clearing.

Timber climbs down and with his usual face of awe, looks around the cave. (Perception: 14)
After taking everything in, he turns to the group. "Anyone against setting camp here?"
"Ah but that sounds like a good idea." Dr Arbutaveyu replies. He fusses around settting up camp an then sits back with a cup of tea.
