Kirinar uses the crowbar and with some brute strength tears the lock off the chest.
Opening it he finds some interesting things. He pulls out a short spear like weapon that has 3-foot wooden shaft with a steel blade that is 18 inches long. It is made of fine workmanship and despite it likey having spent a long time in the chest the blade is without rust and the edge still sharp.
Dr A, Timber along with Qawasha and Artus quickly recognize the weapon as a Yklwa.
"An excellent weapon Kirinar It would serve you in the jungle well." Artus says looking at it.
Inside the chest you also find 10 arrows. Upon closer inspection you find that the tips have been silvered.
Silvered Weapons
Some monsters that have immunity or resistance to nonmagical weapons are susceptible to silver weapons, so cautious adventurers invest extra coin to plate their weapons with silver. You can silver a single weapon or ten pieces of ammunition for 100 gp. This cost represents not only the price of the silver, but the time and expertise needed to add silver to the weapon without making it less effective.
There are also 2 scrolls rolled up. Looking at them you see that they are scrolls with the Remove Curse spell.
"Well these are lovely," Keyleth says, picking up the arrows. "I trust nobody minds if I hang on to them?" She pauses... "Unless you want to split them, Artus? I noticed how quickly you go through ammunition. Impressive firing rate, by the way. I find that a single carefully placed arrow is often as effective as three, but everyone has their own style."
"As for the gold... looks like it should split nicely six ways?"
Kirinar picks up the strange weapon, turning it over in his hands and checking it for balance. "It's like a giant's dagger, or a halfling's spear! Still, it is well crafted. If any of you want this, I make no claim on it. But if it should stay with me, I will put it to good use for the group!" The fighter will hold the yklwa out to Timber, Keyleth, and Dr. A in turn to see if anyone wants it. He also happily accepts his share of the gold (50gp).
"All yours, Kir," Keyleth says. "I've got my trusty serpent tongue dagger should I need to fight up close, which, let's be honest, I prefer to avoid anyway."
Looking at the stuff found Artus remarks on the finds.
"Would say the group that used this as a base at some point hunted the were-creatures that inhabit Chult. Silvered arrows, remove curse spells. Items for a specific purpose. Very interesting. But they are gone now and their loss is our gain. Dr A, I would suggest you take the scrolls, you of all of us could use them best. I say we camp here tonight and continue tomorrow."
Barring the entrance and keeping watch the party safely pass the night in peace. The following day they continue their journey south
A few days later a wide sinkhole yawns before you, the earth around it littered with goblin bones. The opening is 90 feet across and roughly circular, and the stone walls are nearly vertical. Thirty feet down, the sinkhole is filled with murky green water. Hundreds of frogs hop from one floating plant to another.
The massive rib cage and fine wing bones of a dragon rise above the murk. Vines, moss, and lichen hang from the bones. Judging from how much of the skeleton is exposed, the water can’t be more than 3 or 4 feet deep. The walls of the sinkhole are rough and draped with dozens of stout vines, so climbing into or out of the grotto looks to be easy.
Keyleth nods and follows behind Timber, but before beginning to climb down, peers carefully into the water with her eagle eye goggles on, scanning for potentially dangerous creatures or other hazards in the water.
Perception: 24
OoC: Not sure if this feature of the eyes of the eagle is relevant here in helping to see small things in the water ("conditions of clear visibility" may not apply) , but in case it is: "In conditions of clear visibility, you can make out details of even extremely distant creatures and objects as small as 2 feet across."
Looking into the pit with the goggles Keyleth doesn't see anything that looks like an immediate danger. She does see something on the northwest wall of the grotto that looks like it may be a door carved from natural rock and disguised to look like part of the wall, and all the plants around it are dead.
Seeing no danger the party climbs down easily. They find the water to be only a couple feet deep. Sure enough they find a sealed door in the northwest wall with dead plants surrounding it while the rest of the grotto seems to be filled with living plants and frogs.
The bones of the dragon sit in the water, the head submerged under water.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Climbing down, Kirinar is careful to check the water before getting into it. "Just want to make sure it's not acid or something that would eat the skin off of a dragon..." he mutters. At the door, his suspicion is again stirred, and he carefully examines the door and the area around it, looking for any potential traps and also to try and determine why the plants around it are dead.
((I'll take that Perception roll as an Investigation roll))
Looking carefully at the door and the plants that are dead Kirinar realizes that the plants have all been killed by poison. But there is no indication that any poison remains.
You are unable to see any obvious way to open the door. Timber is able to determine that the door is likely magically sealed but can't quite puzzle out how to open it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dr Arbutaveyu walks up to the door looking for any sigils or such carved into it and if so whether he recognises them (Perception - 8 & Arcana - 11). Looking at the dragon's skeleton he mutters to himself "are but it would be interesting to know what killed that mighty beast, perhaps some remnant remains in this place." He casts Detect Magic and scans the surrounding space
Unless Dr. A turns up something, Keyleth will wade over to the skeleton and check for anything lying around that might plausibly be connected to the door.
OoC: Not sure if this sounds more like Perception or Investigation... I'll give a roll of each in spoilers; take your pick.
As the group tries to learn the secrets of the door DrA tries to see anything the others missed missed but doesn't learn anything new.
Keyleth investigates the skeleton of the dragon. The head is submerged in water so she can't examine it. Perhaps if they could lift the head up they could determine what type of dragon this was. She does notice the regularity in the vines draped across the ribs to conclude the dragon was tangled in a net. A search of the muddy bottom turns up hundreds of goblin bones and stone spear heads and greatly annoys the multitude of frogs.
Piecing it together with the dead goblin skeletons at the top you surmise that goblins trapped the dragon in its lair by tossing a huge net over it and then spearing it to death. But hundreds of goblins lost their lives in the defeat of the dragon. The door must contain the treasure the dragon hoarded. But how to open the door?
Before you get the chance to piece it together though Keyleth's search of the muddy bottom has stirred up 2 swarms of biting fish. They attack!
You are all within striking distance as the 2 swarms swim in the water at your feet. Also some snakes start moving about in the water!

With a quick push on the crowbar from the human fighter, the old lock gives up its delusions of keeping the party out of the chest!
