if there is one secret door there is probably more, and probably a path down to the cellar. Since they seemed to have such quaint rituals about the home I', betting they went to lengths to hide them
The party climbs to the third floor of the spiral staircase. The top! Before you, shrouded in gloom, is a balcony overlooking the stairs.
The first two floors of the house were tidy and dust-free. You immediately notice the contrast with this floor. Cobwebs and dust are settled all around. There are bucolic scenes carved into the dark wood paneling, and another suit of armor stands on the opposite side of the room. There is an opening in the northwest corner of the room leading to a couple of doors, and there are a pair of doors in the southwest corner of the room, one on each wall.
Fope, please do an Animal Handling check, and if you don't hit the 10+ then please tell us what you do to coax your new friend along. Ireena is bringing up the rear.
As the party enters the balcony, the suit of black plate armor, with a creak and a lunge, attempting the "shove" combat action against Kif. I gave it advantage, based on the failure of anyone to detect it, and it got a (modified) 17. Kif, contest the Shove with either an Athletics or Acrobatics check, your choice. You have to get a 17 or higher to avoid being pushed 5 feet.
What happens next will depend on whether Kif gets pushed off the balcony, but let's get things started with initiative rolls from everybody.
For its second attack, the animated armor swings a heavy metal fist at Fope. He got a 14. If that hits, it does 5 points of damage. We still need initiative from Puddin, who has not graced our little adventure for more than a few days. Unfortunately. While we wait, Fope can go first.
You don't move very fast. Your move is 20', correct? In which case you can, with a full move and a dash, get to the square right behind Ireena. Squares with people on them would be passable as rough terrain.
Also, you take no damage from the fall because of Barnaby's quick thinking.
Glad to give you the chance Kif. I recently worked out the specifics of that spell and that was the first time I’ve used it on a person. I’m happy it worked and you didn’t get turned into a chicken or anything.
