I will let you double move but I won't let you stand on someone else's space on the stairs (except for the wolf pup's). So we'll see where things are when it's time, but you might be stuck behind Ireena anyway.
Føpé drops his crook, and draws his scimitar. He will generally remain fighty, but hold his attack until someone else is up there with him to strike. If no one makes it in time, he will attack rather than forfeit this round's opportunity. Hopefully that works, and makes sense in the games mechanics, since he'll get to do more damage if someone else is up there with him.
Also, Føpé will move to let someone else come up behind him.
With a 20 on its first attack, it strikes Fope, hitting him with the open-handed slap of a plated metal glove. It deals 5 points of damage. With its other hand, it is attempting to grab Fope's shoulder, rolling a 10 on a Grapple check. Fope, meet or beat that 10 with an Acrobatics or Athletics check.
If Fope succeeds, then he has ducked out of the way and the creature's turn will end. Anybody in bold may go:
Fope
Animated Armor
Barnaby
Kif
Puddin (I rolled for her)
Ireena
If Fope fails to get a 10 or higher on his Acrobatics check, the animated armor will still be having its turn.
Also, I was absentmindedly generous this turn. When you delay an action you must have a triggering event. You cannot program in alternative outcomes. This turn, I said it was ok, but in the future, you can’t have “if my trigger doesn’t happen then I do x.”
Your blast of fire strikes true, and the suit of armor reels a bit. The flame does not linger. Ireena climbs into the spot you vacated and fires a crossbow bolt at the creature, but the bolt bounces harmlessly off the thick armor plate.
Kif huffs and puffs his way up two flights of stairs, getting as high up as he can with a Dash action. We are now waiting for Puddin.
Fope, go ahead and take your delayed attack now as well. I do not anticipate Puddin will run up to this thing's face and try to tank it for you. Also, Fope, please attack at disadvantage, because you are now fighting in the dark. The paltry candlelight, which was barely any help at all, has now descended the stairs and is not illuminating the balcony any longer.
The suit of armor is not quick, and it does not attempt to dodge Fope's attack. Rather, it allows the halfling's slender rapier to bounce harmlessly off of its chest.
Puddin is not at all confident that her attacks will penetrate the armor, so she attempts a Sacred Flame, which forces the target to make a Dex save or take damage. Unfortunately, the creature rolled a natural 20 on its save, so it is unaffected.
Føpé will again hold his attack with his scimitar until Kiff is there, and until he can see. Barnaby, light please! as he shifts west 5 feet and tries desperately to dodge and parry that which he can not see.
If you want, you can take the Dodge action. That would force the monster to take disadvantage on his attacks against you this coming turn. With your high armor class it would likely be effective at protecting you, and it would buy time for the rest of the party to make itself useful.
Or, if you want, you can hold your attack with your scimitar, as you said.
Ok. The creature attacks you and hits, with a 21. It does 7 points of damage. It then attempts a grapple, but (again) rolls poorly for this check, and you only need to beat a 6. It's struggling to get a handhold!

up the stairs then, when it's my turn
fair enough, I'd hate to have to kick the wolf spawn down the stairs
AC 17.

Ok. The animated armor is up.

Acrobatics:6
Ok. Fope successfully evades the grasp of the metal monster. Everyone other than Fope may go.
Kif, I’ll move you when I get a chance. I’m on mobile at the moment.
Also, I was absentmindedly generous this turn. When you delay an action you must have a triggering event. You cannot program in alternative outcomes. This turn, I said it was ok, but in the future, you can’t have “if my trigger doesn’t happen then I do x.”
Barnaby will launch a fire bolt at the armor. To hit: 13, Damage: 7
He will then move to get what cover he can, perhaps by backing down the stairs (I too am on mobile, please move me).
SIT DOWN YOU METAL MONSTROSITY!

Kif, I let you squeeze past Ireena into her space on the stairs, and I pushed her down one. You're welcome! :)
Attack: 11 Damage: 8
Yeah, that's not going to do it.
The suit of armor is not quick, and it does not attempt to dodge Fope's attack. Rather, it allows the halfling's slender rapier to bounce harmlessly off of its chest.

Top of Round 2! Fope, you're up.
