You all hustle quickly past the vortex and make it safely to the stairs. You descend one level, to the second floor, where you see the whole floor is crackling with bolts of electricity. Not huge bolts of lightning, but a similar look. The empty suits of armor in the hallway are already blackened from where they've been hit.
You can make a DEX save to try to make it past the second floor and down to the first without getting zapped. Or let me know if you want to do something else.
I'll let you guys look at the numbers before deciding whether to look for alternatives, though you can have that conversation if you want. I didn't have to do that, though, because ideally you'd be deciding before, rather than after, you knew whether you could get past.
Carry on, as I said. We are, after all, nearing the first floor. And maybe even a way out!

Ok. Barnaby gets electrocuted for 7 damage. Look out!
As you descend below the landing between the first and second floors, now safe from the lightning, you see that there is an acrid green mist on the first floor. You're below the lightning, but not by much, and the entire first floor appears to be filled with this menacing fog.
You don't hear anything, other than the noises from above you. Nothing seems to be lurking down here. Just a spooky fog.
Perhaps it might, but I deleted it a couple of months ago.
I will reconstitute it when I have a minute. In the meantime, you can theater of the mind this situation. The spiral stairs are on the eastern edge of the map. Once you enter the main hall, which is the room where you found Revenge, to your north is the kitchen and to your south is the hunting room where you found the crossbow. At the far end of the main hall, on the western side, on the north is the dining hall where Kif threw up all over Ireena, and on the south is the entrance hall.
All of that is from memory. You can only see five feet in front of your faces in the fog, which you have not yet entered. Unless someone can persuade me otherwise, I do not believe that Darkvision penetrates fogs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ah yes. It is well known that when an evil structure goes unchallenged for too long, it can develop a case of stank fog. Clearly we arrived too late to stop it.
I don’t believe that I have magic to dissipate it.
Can I do a nature or arcana check to see if I am familiar with what this is?
With that roll, you can be fairly confident that it isn't natural. You would also know that there's a chance that it is less than wonderful for your health, given everything else you've been through to get here.
Mechanically, a double move in the fog would get you pretty close to the front door. Not all the way to it, but close enough that you would get there on the following turn. Provided there are no interruptions.
If you take damage while you are holding your breath, that will affect how long you may continue to hold it. Unless I can think of why this would be a problem, each time you take damage while holding your breath you would lose 30 seconds off of your remaining time. (Not that that will happen! Surely it's safe down there!)
And just because you're out of breath doesn't mean you're dead. From the rules again: "When a creature runs out of breath or is choking, it can survive for a number of rounds equal to its Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 round). At the start of its next turn, it drops to 0 Hit Points and is dying, and it can’t regain Hit Points or be stabilized until it can breathe again."

Kiff, your rope, quickly. Føpé extends his hand.
I'll go first. If the rope goes slack, pull my body back out this way. I'll use the rope to find my way back if I get lost. If I give two hard yanks, that means every one should follow, ready to fight.
Føpé rolls down his sleeves to cover his arms and cuts of a piece of his sleeping sheet to cover his mouth and nose.
Assuming Kiff or someone else has a rope for him, Føpé will tie it around his waist (survival 22). While taking a few large gulps of air, he'll pass one end of the rope to Kiff, hold his breath, and rush toward where he remembers the door.
Sounds good. Ireena offers to keep an eye on Revenge.
This floor looks undisturbed; everything is where you remember it. You reach the door, and discover that it is locked.
Your eyes are tearing up from the stinging fog and you can only see a few feet in front of your face but, possibly because you are holding your breath, you are otherwise unaffected.

OK guys, let's hustle for the stairs

19 dex save
I'd like to hold that for a moment to give everyone a chance to offer alternate suggestions
Dex save: 24
Ireena passed.

Barnaby, with another big sigh, once again lifts the hem of his robes and attempts to prance across the electricity crackling across the floor...
Dex save: 13
Presumably I was the last to have a chance for better ideas than dex saves, but I've got nothing, so dex saves it is.
Heading for the first floor then

Perhaps the map might help us think better.

Either would be 18

Could we hold our breaths for the distance, assuming no major interruptions?
Good question! First 30 seconds of holding breath is free:
"A creature can hold its breath for a number of minutes equal to 1 + its Constitution modifier (minimum of 30 seconds)."
As you crouch on the steps and contemplate the green fog beneath you, you notice that it is rising.
If you take damage while you are holding your breath, that will affect how long you may continue to hold it. Unless I can think of why this would be a problem, each time you take damage while holding your breath you would lose 30 seconds off of your remaining time. (Not that that will happen! One yank for come without needing to fight! Barnaby calls out to Fope. Then an aside to Kif, Let’s at least have a little optimism.
