Go ahead and make that decision, and roll for whatever you decide. But we're also going to set your story aside for a moment, for Reasons, until I can resolve some things with our other friends.
Let us join the travelers by the fire, they have done well by us. We should plan on seeing Madam Eva in the morning or at her convenience. But, Barnaby, it might be a good time to practice some moderation
Kif looks about at the Visanti, looking for anything that might be amiss. His trust has grown a bit over the last few days on the road, but this land and the confusing geometry has him on edge
It's the "Tser Pool Encampment," now visible in Roll20. You are currently positioned of the WNW edge, but you can make out what Stanimir has described - the fire, Madam Eva's tent - through the trees.
While you, Puddin and Barnaby, contemplate how to respond to Kif, I want all three of you to level up to Level 2. I wasn't intending to interrupt this conversation with that announcement, but it's been quiet. So there it is. Congrats!
Aye, Kif, let us rest up by this fire -- I've never been on such an unpredictable journey. I don't think that fog was just fog...
I too would like to roll for perception: 20
I'm traveling for work most of this week, but I'll hop on after my evening meeting tonight to update my character sheet and share with you in the Dropbox -- hopefully we will both see those changes!
Fope, as soon as you descent into the black fog you take a level of Exhaustion. It is hard to draw a full breath. Visibility is 10-15', and the path winds back and forth with occasional steep drops. Though you are going downhill, the cutbacks, the uneven terrain, and the visibility combine to keep your progress slow.
You hear wolves howl from the mountainside below you, from time to time, as you work your way down. You've been descending, carefully, for about an hour. Roll a perception check.

It's your sense that the figures around the fire are another clan of travelers, just as Stanimir and his family and company were also a clan of Visanti travelers.
They aren't directing as much attention to you as Stanimir and his crew did. You recall that Stanimir claimed he was looking for you or waiting for you; these guys are just having a party that you're crashing. But they welcome you in. Their leader, you believe, is an elderly woman named Remuana. You swap stories quietly with her for a bit, and, as the night grows late, one of the members of her crew interrupts with a loud story of his own:
A mighty wizard came to this land over a year ago. I remember him like it was yesterday. He stood exactly where you’re standing. A very charismatic man, he was. He thought he could rally the people of Barovia against the devil Strahd. He stirred them with thoughts of revolt and bore them to the castle en masse.
When the vampire appeared, the wizard’s peasant army fled in terror. A few stood their ground and were never seen again.
The wizard and the vampire cast spells at each other. Their battle flew from the courtyards of Ravenloft to a precipice overlooking the falls. I saw the battle with my own eyes. Thunder shook the mountainside, and great rocks tumbled down upon the wizard, yet by his magic he survived. Lightning from the heavens struck the wizard, and again he stood his ground. But when the devil Strahd fell upon him, the wizard’s magic couldn’t save him. I saw him thrown a thousand feet to his death. I climbed down to the river to search for the wizard’s body, to see if, you know, he had anything of value, but the River Ivlis had already spirited him away.
This is the first you've heard of the name "Strahd."
The Vistani have nothing else to offer you this night, other than wine and company. The next morning you can visit Madam Eva.
“Um, I don’t suppose that wizard left any books, papers, or scrolls behind? It could be very helpful for our plans to help your people.”
if the answer is a plain ‘no’ Barnaby will shrug and leave it alone. Presumably, during the stories he’s had several ales, and perhaps shared a little from his flask of whiskey with any of the gypsies who would listen to stories of his own. Barnaby has always found staying awake to be much more difficult than finding sleep, even more so in his old age. Therefore, he will find a spot where he is unlikely to be stepped on near the fire to curl up and go to sleep amid the hubbub of the party.
Prior to going to sleep, Barnaby will use arcane recovery to regain a spell slot, and then spend 10 minutes casting detect magic as a ritual to see if there is any arcane presence in the camp.

Believe me, little friend, I looked all over. There was nothing left.

You don't detect any magic. I understand you mean to to check around the fire and its *immediate* area. Do you approach Madam Eva's tent? Feel free to look at the map to get a sense of where you want to go.
On my last roll, I rolled a 1, and a 15, before adding +4. As a halfling, I use my "lucky" trait to reroll the 1: 16
So the final result of the perception at disadvantage is 16.
You see a figure moving through the fog, at the periphery of visibility. It appears to be more substantial than the girl you encountered on the other side of the mountain. It looks like a human male, and is not facing you.
Go ahead and make that decision, and roll for whatever you decide. But we're also going to set your story aside for a moment, for Reasons, until I can resolve some things with our other friends.

Fope has also leveled up, as he already knows. :)
Cool, thanks, updated on dropbox
Weird, I can't see it. Maybe the Dropbox sharing is not as smooth as I'd hoped.

Perception at disadvantage from exhaustion: 3
Do I get to reroll because I'm a halfling?

Barnaby will get very excited at the mention of a great wizard, but his face falls at the mention of the wizard’s death.
“I wonder where he’s lain to rest?” Barnaby thinks. https://youtu.be/wQAwbP5YkD8

Fope: Yup! Reroll.

Yes, just the area around the fire.
Mid her tent is within about 60’ then I would get it cause I figure I’d only get around 30’ from the fire area.
Føpé, as cheerfully as he can in spite of the gloom pushing his sorrows against his heart, Hello sir.
The figure turns to you, gaunt and angry. A human man, or maybe what was once a human man. He approaches you with a menacing groan.
Roll for initiative.
You do not detect any magic inside Madam Eva's tent, either.
For Puddin, Barnaby, and Kif, the night passes uneventfully, stretched out on bedrolls by the fire.
