Laniellooks to Morph. "I think we should finish this fiend off. The world could do with one less fiend." At Morph'snod, Lanielattacks the sleeping devil.
Quarterstaff (two-handed) Attack: 17 Damage: 11
Kick Attack: 26 Damage: 8
Lanielruthlessly batters the spined devil, rousting it from it's magically induced slumber. It floats into the air and screeches through a thoroughly bloodied visage. The fiend is on its last wings, but it has enough in it to lash back at Lanielwith its fork and a bite.
Fork Attack: 15 Damage: 5
Bite Attack: 18 Damage: 4
The creature is clearly suffering as it lands neither of its strikes against the monk.
Morph'shopes are realized as the final spined devil succeeds in ending the miserable fiend's wicked life.
Titus, Laniel, Morph, and Malall take a moment to breathe before climbing down and walking (or flying) back to the manor, where they find Rethan, looking a little worse for wear, waiting for them.
Seeing how hurt everyone is, Morphreaches out his hand and places it on, first Maland then Titus, uttering some arcane words.
As he touches each of them, there is a soft golden glow that radiates from them for a moment, and some of there injury's mend, leaving them looking better off.
Action x2: Cast Cure Wounds (using lvl2 slots) on both Maland Titus: Mal= 12 HP; Titus= 12 HP;
Sitting down for a moment, Morphlets out a sigh,
"I need a break, could we stop and maybe have something to eat, before we continue?"
As they recover from their fights, Mal will pause a moment and look around the room.
"I'm afraid I won't be of too much more use if any more fights break out - even after a short rest, I'm not up to much more spellcasting or sword waving. Is there anything we can do that might let us catch up on a bit of sleep? Maybe question a cultist or two? Call in a wizard friend to help us figure out what the hell it is we just fought for?"
OOC: Mal is pretty much tapped for all of his utility, just so people know. I have 1 luck point left, a lesser restoration, and an interrogation ability. Even after the short rest. If we want to go in for more fights, we might want to take stock of what tools we have at our disposal.
"I would rather not get into any more fights today either. One fight that almost takes us out, against creatures of pure evil, from another world, is quite enough for me."
"So then, let's have a look at this stone thing."
Morph will examine the stone, both for physically clues and arcane ones as well.
Investigation check for any physical clues to it's use or purpose: 5
Arcana check for any clues to it's magical nature: 19
He hands the stone over to morph upon the other's request. "I can already tell you from inspecting it while I waited for the rest of you slow-pokes that someone has to attune the stone to use it.

Everyone, exhausted from their sprint through the South Ward, sits in the main hall of the manor taking turns examining the Stone of Golorr.
It is an unusual item, clearly radiating powerful magic. Collectively, the group discerns the following:
There are traces of transmutation magic present in the stone.
It requires attunement to use it
It has no explicit uses that one can easily discern from studying it, even with an identify spell.
It is objectively ugly.
The heroes fix themselves a lackluster meal and find their beds for the night.

Late in the night, when it is coolest and darkest, Morph, Laniel, and Titusall awaken to the sound of a loud thunk coming from the main hall of the manor.

Titusis the first down to the main hall where he sees the door wide open and a dark figure fleeing from the manor. His divine sense tells him immediately that this creature is a fiend. Rushing to the door, he finds the fiend, dressed in a cloak and hat, running across the street with the Stone of Golorr tucked under his arm. He is running directly to a hire-cab, led by two draft horses. A human sits atop the cab, waiting to deliver his fare. Inside the cab is an elderly looking teifling. Invisible, except to Titus, are three imps sitting on the back of the cab.

Titus marches 20 feet into the street and glares at the fiends as they try to escape with the stone. He smashes his axe against his shield loud enough to wake the neighborhood and bellows out “Halt you fiends! You cannot run so easily from justice here in Waterdeep!”
Titus uses his channel Divinity against the devil and the cab driver to attempt to prevent them from escaping.
Champion Challenge - As a bonus action, each creature of your choice within 30 ft. must make a WIS saving throw (DC 13) or it can't willingly move more than 30 ft. away from you.
He then uses his shield at attemp to knock the devil prone and brings down his axe on him.

Bearded Devil STR check: 16
The fiend pushes back, resisting the paladin's shield shove. Since he is still standing, he dodges the following battleaxe strike on his way to the cab.
Mal sighs, calling forth the last of his magical reserves.
Mal casts sleep at 2nd level.
HP put to sleep between the devil and Titus: 35
Both Titus and the spined devil fall to the ground, asleep.
(Morph is next, then Laniel.)
Laniel looks to Morph. "I think we should finish this fiend off. The world could do with one less fiend." At Morph's nod, Laniel attacks the sleeping devil.

Morph and Mal may go while Titus slumbers...
Mal will shake Titus awake, slapping him if necessary to awake him from the magic slumber.
(Let's go with Morph next, so Titus can wake up. Then, Titus. :)
Morph takes aim again, hoping to finish off the last devil.
