'Pyro, now kneeling in the tower doorway amidst the portal's shattered remains, unleashes an arrow that takes the already wounded orc in the throat. The creature drops its weapon and shield, clutching futilely at the arrow as it sinks into oblivion.'

'The remaining orc, slightly larger than the rest, with a belt of lizard and humanoid skulls (all cut nearly in half, from crown to jaw) about its waist, roars out something in its guttural language (Del understands, so may look in the spoiler), then brings his cleaver down at the back of the guard sergeant who is busy pulling his blade from the back of the orc he slew. Attack: 7 Damage: 6
A moment later, 2 more orcs, 1 with a crossbow bolt embedded in its shoulder, round the corner of the tower nearest him, now standing either side of their apparent leader. Both pull throw nasty bone darts, 1 at the guard sergeant and 1 at the nearby barbarian.
Orc 1 dart thrower Attack: 14 Damage: 3
Orc 2 dart thrower Attack: 14 Damage: 2
"To me, you fools. More slaves for the masters cages!"
'The sergeant spins out of the way of the cleaver strike, but with his attention on the larger orc, is taken by surprise and is struck in the arm by the dart. Likewise, the 2nd thrower's dart catches Del in the abdomen. The barbarian feels a burning numbness spread quickly from the wound through his body, as out of the corner of his eye, he sees the suddenly unsteady sergeant wipe at his now sweat drenched forehead and repeatedly blink his unfocused eyes. The half-orc roars in fury that something would dare to try to weaken him, to lessen his ability to bring death to his foes, and in the blink of an eye his fury burns the pitiful vestiges of the poison from his veins.'

'Del's fierce gaze narrows, regarding this puny creature who would think that the half-orcs rage could ever be tamed and enslaved. The great axe's blade is barely percetable as it arcs up high and comes down cleaving the orc in half, the weapon's deadly path barely slowed by the resistance of bone, flesh and leather. As the creatures halves fall away from each other, the other orcs regard the barbarian with barely disguised dread and turn to run. 'Both orcs stagger from the guards' blows, but neither falls. However, suddenly 2 crossbow bolts come flying down, 1 aimed at each orc's back. One bolt strikes home, while the other misses. Both orcs are still alive and very much intent on fleeing!
Crossbow guard 1 Attack: 20 Damage: 9

Without a sound, the creature topples motionless to the ground. The remaining orc uses the fall of his companion to flee into some nearby brush, vanishing from view.
