”I was more referring to the fact that this nameless guy, we could've jumped them and gotten an attack or two in before it could retaliate, I can't see in the dark either, though I can just use my lantern. Also, I do believe the Light spell is a cantrip, if I recall from my studying” Dwaye says before walking further into the mausoleum, motioning with his hand to follow.
(You might want to up the challenge on some of these encounters, like 80% of them end in a single round, usually before the bad guy can get a turn, maybe upping the number of enemies would help)
The shrine is mostly empty, having been ransacked over the years by tomb robbers; an empty altar surrounded by broken wolf statues.
Soar, being particularly perceptive today, notices what the robbers had not: tucked away behind a secret crevice in the masonry, she discovers a torn and insect-eaten but still usable scroll of Divine Favor!
There appear to be no entrances into the barrow here; the well may be the only way in.
Soar pockets the scroll since she's the only paladin, "unless any of you want it?"
Before they start down the well, Soar ties the rope to the nearby tree :)
She helps the others climb down and then does so herself. On her way down, she looks in the walls of the well for any handholds or anything that would allow someone to get out without using a rope. She also looks for signs of recent activity -- scuff marks, torn roots, vines, etc.
Once she gets to the bottom, she looks, visually, again for any sign of recent activity in the dust and dirt. "Wonder if they still trap old shrines or if that's gone out of style." She uses divine sense to check if there are undead or fiends or celestials within 60 feet. She's happy to stay in darkness using darkvision but understands there are humans who can't see.
The floor is dirt; there are indeed scuff marks indicating recent passage. A shelf full of broken clay jars and other worthless old grave goods is on the eastern wall.
Now, this isn't your first dungeon delve; you KNOW a tomb like this is likely trapped and may have secret passages. The question is, can you find them as you explore the entrance room before you trigger the trap? (Lets say DC 10 investigation to find the trap door, if you fail you trigger it.)
Soar literally has her foot perched over the trap door when Kierro notices it and she stops and slowly backs away. "Thank you. Now is there a way to disable it or can we all fit trying to walk around it? This seems super inconvenient for whatever lives down here. Or unlives down here."

Back at the Yawning Portal, Soar starts talking about the City of the Dead to those who are interested in the necromancer quest. "Oh yes, it's right near where I live! Verrrrrry peaceful. I love taking walks there. Really gives you perspective about life and challenges you to make the best of every day we're given. Greet the sun with a smile. Anyhow, I can go try to figure out where Sir Ambrose is, he knows me. At least, he should. Lots of Kelemvor's followers are, well, let's say they're not focused on this world as much as the average person. They can be a little hard to talk to. Not me though, I love talking to people."

The fire beetle explodes, ichor and goo flying everywhere; you manage to salvage the glowing glands.
Asmodai says, "See, now one needs to waste a spell."

Kiric pulls out a rope, and begins climbing down the well into the barrow.
Kierro follows.

No undead, fiends or celestials within 60'.
You enter the entry chamber (2).

Soar knows she's not amazing at finding things so she asks for help looking for any traps in the darkness. 6
Anyone want to assist Soar in her search?
Sure. Investigation: 12

I'll take Kierro's Investigation. He notices the pit trap's trap door before anyone steps onto it, but doesn't find the secret passageway.
(You'll have to get past the pit trap somehow; either walk along the edges or jump over it are the obvious options.)
Soar literally has her foot perched over the trap door when Kierro notices it and she stops and slowly backs away. "Thank you. Now is there a way to disable it or can we all fit trying to walk around it? This seems super inconvenient for whatever lives down here. Or unlives down here."
