Does Darvin know anything about Duke Vanthampur or the Vanthampur house(?) generally, maybe related to his Oathoon connection?
History: 16
(if advantage due to background, 9)
Acid-tongued, shrewd, and aggressive, Duke Thalamra Vanthampur is the matriarch of the Vanthampur family. Born with nothing, she spent years wallowing in obscurity, repairing and renovating the city’s ancient sewer system. One promotion after another followed until she was named Master of Drains and Underways. By then, she had been married three times and given birth to three sons.
Thalamra was elected to the Council of Four. Although she has served on the council for the shortest amount of time, Duke Vanthampur is easily the most politically savvy council member. She speaks little during meetings of the council, preferring to further her political agenda through meetings in her private offices and at her family estate. When she does choose to debate, she speaks with a strength beyond what it seems like her age should allow, and is known for leveling insults that land unsettlingly close to (supposedly) hidden truths.
"Well I am glad we could be of service!" Gil would reply.. still wondering about the mans face that ran away. "We currently work for a branch of Aquisitings incorporated. Normally we would charge a fee for saving and protecting people in need but I am sure we can wave that fee for someone such as yourself." The small Verdan would say with a small bow.
"I know nothing about him. But he a dangerous and powerful man. My family is paying the Dead Three cultists to murder people in the city. Our goal is to prove that the Flaming Fist can’t do its job. Once the city stops paying them, the Flaming Fist will have less of a reason to stay in Baldur’s Gate. With them gone, no one can stand in the way of my mother becoming the city’s next grand duke. If she gets her way, Baldur’s Gate will share Elturel’s fate and get dragged down into the Nine Hells."
"My mother is one of the three remaining members of the Council of Four, which governs Baldur’s Gate. She was instrumental in convincing Ulder Ravengard to travel to Elturel and meet with its high overseer, Thavius Kreeg. With Ravengard gone, the Flaming Fist is leaderless and vulnerable."
“The Dead Three cultists receive regular payments from my brother, Amrik, who runs his own moneylending business out of a tavern called the Low Lantern. My mother doesn’t expect much of me, but she thinks the world of Amrik. He’s always been her favorite. My oldest brother, Thurstwell, uses imps as spies throughout the city. He has the bathhouse under surveillance and probably knows you’re here. He’s very sickly and seldom leaves our mother’s estate.”
"If you’ve made it this far, you’ve killed most of the leaders of the Dead Three cult. Without them, the cult will break up. The cultists keep their treasure nearby.”
"I am done with the corruption of this city and my family. They have always hated and despised me and now they have tried to kill me. They will stop at nothing to gain power. I am afraid they have alligned themselves with evil powers but I do not know who. You must stop them! I am convinced that my two older brothers have conspired to kill me. I urge you to capture or kill Amrik at a dockside tavern called the Low Lantern. I assure you that our mother values Amrik’s well-being enough to negotiate for his release if you capture him. I would not oppose a duke of Baldur’s Gate without leverage."

Tibi walks his coin across his knuckles "lets let Tymora decide heads we go look for this Amrik bloke and inflict a bit of Gee Bee Aitch on him"as spins the coin [1-2=Heads] (2). "Well lads once we collect the loot its time to go look for this Amrik bloke!"
"I've told you what I can. I'm getting out Baldur's Gate. Maybe Waterdeep or Neverwinter, but I hope to get far from here and never return."
With that said, Mortlock moves to leave unless you try and stop him.
Checking the rest of the chamber, to the SW is a short flight of stairs that leads to a circular chamber with four padlocked wooden chests piled in the middle of it. The chests are locked, but trying the keys found earlier you are able to open the chests without a problem.
Chest 1 holds 4,500 cp and two red crystal vials with gold stoppers (25 gp each). Each vial contains a potion of fire breath. With the coins and vials inside, the chest weighs 70 pounds.
Chest 2 contains ten eye agates (10 gp each) scattered amid 1,250 sp. With the coins and gemstones inside, the chest weighs 37 pounds.
Chest 3 contains a delicate porcelain dragon mask (25 gp) resting on a bed of 2,400 cp and 500 sp. With the coins inside, the chest weighs 55 pounds. The mask weighs 1 pound.
Chest 4 contains a bronze crown with five spires (250 gp). Each spire is shaped and painted to resemble one of the five kinds of chromatic dragons (black, blue, green, red, and white). The crown weighs 2½ pounds.
(OOC: I thought I had posted before after your last post but I guess not :/)
Gil would not to Tibi. "There is soo much to collect!" He would reply as he pulls out his book and begins recording all of the loot. He would take a moment to tap his wand against the book and cast detect magic. He would then remove his own warded and locked chest from his pack and begin transferring all of the coins and items into it. Once that was done, he would quickly attach the lock once more and whisper the key word to activate the arcane lock once again. He would then place the locked chest back in his bag of holding. He would keep the potions of fire breathing inside a pocket of his robes.. offering them to anyone that might be interested in holding on to them. If anything looks to be magical, he would examine it closley and try to determine what it is.
Gil would pack up all the valuables and hand out the two potions to those that want them. "Alright, I got everything I need. Let's get out of here! I dont know about you guys but I am getting hungry." The small verdan would say as he secured his bag of holding.
"Sounds good to me, I would hate to leave anything behind." The tiny verdan would say as he stretches a bit and rubs his legs and arms. He would then motion to the drift globe to follow behind him as he clutches his small staff in his hands.
Burned torch stubs litter the floor of this hall, the western end of which is occupied by three six-foot-tall, painted wooden statues. Each statue stands atop a two-foot-high block of red stone, making it look taller and foreboding.
The center statue resembles a heavily armored man whose face is hidden behind the fearsome visor of his helmet. He’s painted red except for his right gauntlet, which is black. Clutched in this gauntlet is a blood-red spear, pointed upward. The statue to the north depicts a purple-garbed male noble wearing a harlequin mask and holding a dagger behind his back. The statue to the south portrays a black-robed skeleton with its jaw opened wide and its bony hands outstretched.
In the center of the statues stands the man that was fighting Mortlock
"So you have come at last, has the coward fled then? Let us finish this then!"
The man moves to attack! At the same time, the old woman who you were escorting drops her facade and is revealed to be a cultists herself who has come up behind you!
Gilbert would quickly spin around and point his dagger towards the woman as his spectral bat swoops towards her. As he does so flames will dance from his arcane focus in his left hand towards the tip of his dagger in his right. Quickly a chromatic orb of flame would form on the end of the blade before streaking through the air towards his target as the spectral bat helps to distract her.
Attack: 26 Damage: 32
"I trusted you lady..." Gil would mutter under his breath.

"You look after that fickle ***** - I've got Fugly here." Tibi says as he yells "tallyho" and launches an attack with both rapiers at the man. First attack Attack: 25 Damage: 8 as he slices a bit of his ear off. Second attack Attack: 12 Damage: 4

Darvin begins humming a little tune about a hot potato, gesturing toward the man's dagger, which begins to heat up in his hand (doing 3 fire damage) ... He then looks toward Tibi with an encouraging smile and a small nod before charging toward the man with his rapier drawn (bardic inspiration for Tibi).
OoC: Tibi, it doesn't look like you rolled sneak attack damage; wouldn't you have qualified as a swashbuckler? Regardless, Darvin is going to end his turn w/i 5'.
OoC: Reminder that if Darvin takes melee damage, his attacker will take 5 cold damage from armor of agathys
Gilbert spins and lobs a globe of flame at the woman who has revealed herself to be a foe and not a friend. A moment later she is engulfed in flame as the globe hits her. She falls to the ground dead as her charred body burns.

The man with the missing face holds onto the blade as the searing heat bites into his skin.

You get sneak attack bonus because Darvin and Drabash are within 5' of Vaaz
Drabash swings mightily at the man who ducks the attack and he axe flys harmlessly over his head. Tibi steps in and drives one rapier into the man and then follows up with a solid stab from the other however the second stab seems to have not actually harmed the man
Vaaz then turns a Stunning Gaze onto Darvin (1-2), Drabash (3-4), Tibi (5-6), Gilbert (7-8) 1 and he must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of his next turn.
He then stabs out with his dagger at Darvin (1-2), Drabash (3-4), Tibi (5-6) 2
Attack: 8 Damage: 6
Attack: 11 Damage: 6
Darvin feels the first dagger slide deep into his flesh and while he is able to avoid the second blow he has received more injury from the first than expected.
Round 2
Gilbert, Darvin, Drabash, Tibi, Vaaz (13) has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the start of Darvin's next turn.
As the terrifying man lunges at him with his red hot dagger, Darvin throws up a barrier of magical energy, which absorbs enough of the dagger's momentum for Darvin to avoid the blow.
OoC: Did Vaaz resist some of the damage we did? By my count he would have taken 3 fire (heat metal) + 25 (magical) piercing (Tibi). (If he'd hit Darvin he would have taken 5 cold on his turn from armor of agathys, but shield would prevent that)
one hand on the stowed axe handle, Drubash carefully walks forward, keeping an eye out for the ones that dashed away.
