How are you all doing the larger grid maps? If it's not too difficult to manage it would be preferable for me to use those instead of just text maps, they make everything a lot clearer.

Having a bit of an issue. When I copy Nexus the formatting is completely wack and I can't seem to fix it. Any special thing I have to do that I'm missing?

@VanderLegion (and anyone else): I'm pretty new to Roll20 myself (this is only the second campaign I've used it for), but if there are any tips I can provide or symbols we can standardize with anyone else who wants to use Roll20 maps, I'm happy to help however I can. Generally I'd say just go with whatever feels right and is easiest for you, and don't worry about making everything perfect the first time around.
@LST: Looks like you have it figured out now, but if I remember correctly you have to copy it from a quote?
@All: I think all of our characters are now level 5, except for BDaddLy (maybe Orileo?). For this reason, it would be great if BDaddLy could run the next level 5 match. However, if they're not available, I'll take the plunge and have Horatio sit out for one match so I can run.

That's part of why I volunteered for a lower level match ;). As well as getting my feet wet with lower level characters that don't have quite as many magic items or abilities yet for various interactions. And as a bonus, since I rolled the tunnels, no bird-men flying to crazy heights :P (I put the ceilings of the tunnels at 20 feet)
Clearly though the DMs need to stop all leveling up together!

The trouble I've had with using maps from roll 20 or any other program is storing the images and coordinating that with DnDBeyond. When I post an image ifbj want to change that image I have to update the image, save it, upload it, and then delete it from my post and then post the it again with the new url. ... But then, of course, I put one character out of position by 5 feet so I have to do it again. Keeping the map up to date is a challenge in text alone. Doing it in an image is about 10 times more effort. What might help, and wouldn't be a significant extra effort, would be to post an image of the maps without any characters, that can be used as a reference to help understand the text version.
I couldn't tell you how many times even veteran arena contestants have failed to roll initiative. Instead of asking twice, I always just treat them as having 0, since their rolled initiative will have little impact on the match if any.

I also default starting positions to H or I
Didn't have time tonight to set up the match start anyway, so figured it didn't hurt to ask in th emeantime. But that makes sense for if they don't post one.

Actually someone remind me. The matches continue until a special objective is complete, such as with Capture the flag or one side is incapacitated? Or in the latter's case, when one side is all unconscious or surrenders?

Correct. You can always win through eliminating all opponents, but you can sometimes also win by completing an objective (king of the hill, 4 points, etc) without having to knock out everyone on the other side.

I made the one for my match in Roll20
Hmm. I'll probably stick to text maps.

This is my first time ever messing with Roll 20. I’ve done similar with google sheets docs in the past

I'll run the level-5 match.
Blank will join the level-4 match to even the teams (as is his custom) or not if that makes the teams even.

So in other words, you should join anyways! >:D

But they do have to be actually not unconcious, not trapped in a Hypnotic pattern or incapacitated by Hold Person. Cool beans.
