But they do have to be actually not unconcious, not trapped in a Hypnotic pattern or incapacitated by Hold Person. Cool beans.
Pretty sure hypnotic pattern has worked in the past (It's basically a better version of Sleep). Being incapacitated with no way to end the effect makes it hard to keep yourself alive or knock anyone else out. Hold person I would argue shouldn't be enough to end a match because you get a chance to roll a save at the end of every turn. Hypnotic pattern you're out until the spell ends or someone shakes you out of it.
When do you use passive perception vs contested checks for stealth? (In this case specifically, which do you use when they do a Hide action. Other situations are good to know for the future as well though)
... If a character is unaware of your action it will need to beat their passive skill. For instances Stealth will go against the opponent's passive Perception or Investigation, unless you were fighting and moved out of sight to Hide. Then it would be contested ...

Gotcha. Though in Vertenya's case, I looked at the map again and it was actually just possible to get LoS for the magic missile. But basically, you get contested check when someone already engaged int he fight moves out of LoS and hides, passive otherwise? (Unless they're doing the contested skill check to try to gain a benefit for a round vs a full hide)
Rules question: If you cast Darkness at a point somewhere up the air, does it affect the light level below the spell (assuming outside int he daylight. Or if you cast it between a light source and another area). Say there's a character at ground level, sunny day, you cast Darkness 15-20 feet above them, so they're outside the radius of the spell but it's just above them. They obviously aren't in magical darkness, but there's also a sphere of darkness between them and the sun, so they aren't in direct sunlight either. Would it make it dim light? Or just be bright anyway?
I would say that it would just be bright. Firstly I don't think the sphere would be large enough to block out enough light, secondly it doesn't say anything about that in the spell text, and thirdly it's just simpler that way.

Agreed. Also if you go stand under a tree on a bright day, it doesn't become dim.
Pff, a 30 foot wide sphere of blackness would block way more light than a tree!!! :P.
That's fine. I figured that'd be the case, but was worth asking. I'm not entirely clear on the boundaries between "bright", "dim" and "darkness" (outside of when it's specified, such as light spell/torch having X feet of bright, then X feet of Dim, etc)
And futuristic_kf is definitely right about it being simpler. Since if it DID work, how far up can the sphere be before it stops working, etc.

The one of yours that just finished was level 3, right? I have level 4 in progress right now, Bdaddly has level 5 in the signups phase, and futuristic_kf has level 6 signups going.
So if there's level 7s that need a match, could do one of those, or another level 3.

@All: Where did we if at all land on Beast Master beasts and Battle Smith's Steel Defenders when it comes to their master being defeated and eventually dropped on the field? Do they get the stay and continue to participate to some extent, or are they removed from the field as well?

I don't think we discussed it, but in that scenario, I would bot the creature move it to the ranger, and attack any enemy within 5 feet of it and/or the ranger, dodging otherwise.
As reminder fer meself, it was always 1 aggressive enemy that appeared? And was the aggressive enemy based on CR, always the one monster, and did it scale based on the levels on those in the match?

I'd call it passive here. She hasn't actually started fighting yet.

I've always used 1. Something fairly weak for the players, it should scale, but what that scale is I never defined.
