Aiwin just walks over and looks at the dial with Varan and then look up following where the shadow is pointing, seeing if it points in the direction of a path.
”I think the shadow pointing is a clue of some kind. Perhaps we should follow that direction first,” remarks Tobin. The small mage goes to the entrance they came in and writes “Exit” in the ground. “Let’s see if this stays should we find ourselves back at this junction,” he says.

Bazavur ambles back over to the group, “Didn’t see anything down that way.” He points towards the path he just ventured down. “I’ll take a look down the other paths.” And will repeat what he just did with the remaining paths, unless of course someone stops him or suggests a different idea.
Varan, you and the others are indeed leaving tracks on the ground. To look at it, you would seem to be the first people who have ever set foot in this place.
Aiwin, the shadow does point directly towards a path, the one opposite where you entered. Otherwise, there's nothing to distinguish that path from any of the others.
Tobin, you write the word on the ground without any issue. It appears to stay where you wrote it.
Bazavur returns, and then tests each path, heading down as far as he can without losing sight of the sundial; each time, he returns safely and without incident.
No, they are all entirely featureless; green hedge walls and a stone path on the ground. and nothing else. Each one curves, the same as the path by which you first entered. Whatever lies at their end, you would have to move further down the path to see it.
Soar nods at Tobin and follows the direction the sundial’s shadow is pointing. She looks at her shadow and those of the group as she walks, what are they doing?
Having finished his sketches and cartography, Tobin is happy to trundle along after Soar (same order as before). He writes “first shadow” in the ground as he passes the threshold of the opening into the path.
Varan walks along side Aiwin into the next maze path, "So, betrayal or turncoat. Which one you puttin' money down on for this meetin'?" He flashes Aiwin a cheeky grin.

Aiwin just follows keeping his grip on his bow and other hand dropping steel shards occasionally as they walk "Betrayal, if he wanted to meet why not outside of the maze? Why make us go through this darn thing. Also, just the fact we are dealing with dragons..."
You walk together, down the curved maze path, with Aiwin dropping steel breadcrumbs as he goes.
You emerge into what seems to be the same clearing that you just left. In the centre is a sundial. There's no sign on the ground that you passed through before, nor can you see the steel shards that Aiwin left; they head back the way you just came, but there's no sign of them otherwise.
In the centre of the clearing, the sundial now has two shadows; one points to the east, and the other to the south.
Soar looks at the metal pieces that lead away, completely confused. She starts to say something and then runs out of ideas and her mouth hangs open, head tilted to the side, looking at a shadow.
She walks over to the sundial, and looks at where the light seems to be coming from, anything weird with the sun? Are there two suns?
”Maybe follow the new one, or maybe these two shadows are both pointing in the right direction and we split the difference and go down the path in between. Or we go opposite the both of them, toward the…. sun?” she says.
Anything to differentiate the paths apart from the metal filings, and maybe some footprints?
Soar, there is one sun, in its normal place. Your own shadows continue to point in the normal direction, given the sun's position in the sky. Both sundial shadows point in other directions.
There are no footprints, and the only path that is marked is the one back in the direction you just came, indicated by metal shards and footprints.
Taking careful notes and sketches again, Tobin says, “Indeed, why two shadows if splitting the difference and heading southeast would only require one?”
Thinking a bit he says, “What if the shadows are cumulative—we followed an eastern shadow and now there is an eastern and southern shadow. If we go south this time, perhaps we will get to the next intersection and get an eastern and southern shadow with a new one as well. I theorize if we fill up all the shadow directions we might get to the end of the maze, and getting out would require emptying all the shadows by heading their opposite direction.”

(Steve, I assume there’s nothing of note down any of the paths while keeping the sundial in sight?)

Soar, your shadows and those of the entire group are normal; only the sundial's shadow is unusual in the direction it points.
You follow the path in the direction the sundial's shadow points. Is everyone joining, in the same marching order as before?

Varan walks up to the sundial and checks to see if this one moves, and which shadow is pointing to the tower.

Varan, the sundial is as firmly rooted in the ground as before. Neither shadow points towards the tower, which now appears to be in the north-west.
Varan scratches his head, "So much for the shadows pointin' towards the tower hint. Let's give Tobin's idea a shot."
