Having wandered around the festivities, the Professor sees his friends gathering and joins in, watching and listening with interest as Berrus started describing his quest. "Once we get the crew safely to the sea and set them up with the magic boat, those of us who are interested should be able to investigate any nearby ruins," says the Professor, adding, "I know I have some notes on it somewhere, and we have already seen evidence of dwarven civilizations of the past here," as he fumbles with his books.
Later in the evening, the Professor asks, "Does anyone have a particular item or person they wish to know more about? This mirror works once a day--it would be a shame not to use it for something before today is over."
(Assuming I didn’t miss this item already being checked)
”I should like to know more about this dagger/needle. I’ve never seen one item disguised as another. Would you mind looking at its history?” Fang would of course defer to one anyone else if they had something they deemed more pressing to learn about.
Looking around to see if anyone else has a more urgent use for the mirror (cue Shae and the cursed dagger, should she wish to bring it up tonight), Snively will prepare to do as Fang requests. If not interrupted, he will use the mirror for the needle dagger.

Shae will feel a hint of sadness watching Berrus go distant. Her hand would reach out to rest on his forearm as if to try to stop him from retreating away from her. Although feeling a paign of guilt for her prying curiosity, she was also grateful for what he shared. "I can thank lady luck for our paths crossing... hic." She'd whisper almost inaudible, mostly to herself when he'd take his swig, covering her mouth to try to stifle her hiccup that slipped.
As silence fell again, Shae was worried she sucked the air out of the sails of the conversation. But then to her delight Fang and the Professor would pipe up to chime in. This brought a smile to her face again. Everyone offered to participate and even added to direct the conversation to something more lighthearted. She also remembered Berrus asked the Professor if he wanted to check out his new horn in detail, that was something she was curious about as well. Shae would sip on her mead to listen to the boys chatter, also leaning in to take a look at what the Professor would show them. "Mmm-Hic!" She'd try to agree without letting another hiccup slip, but she did. She'd take another sip to hide it.
(I don't think Shae has the dagger. I believe the Captain does?)
Having a thought, thinking about her conversation with Kam this morning, Shae would fish around in her bag for the captain's dagger to offer the Professor. She knew he was keen on studying it. She would also repeat the information Kam reviewed with her in case she didn't get the chance to do so before the ceremony.
At Shae's description of Kam's guidance on the cursed dagger, the Professor says to Fang, "Ah, perhaps this is a more critical use of the mirror for now--to help remove the curse from the Captain. I will use the mirror in the morning to show you the needle dagger history, if that is acceptable." Turning to Berrus, he adds, "And I would be pleased to enact the Identify ritual for the horn you have received on the morrow as well. Perhaps with some research we can find details about an ancestor of great significance to the Trueanvil clan or an item of similar historic portent that we could further investigate using the mirror."

Fang has no issue with the cursed dagger being given priority as his new one doesn’t seem to have any negative effects. He then resumes keeping an eye out for anything that might be a danger to him or his new companions. Especially since Rings isn’t in a state for fighting presently. Or any of his companions for that matter, except for Glasses perhaps.
OOC: Fang may notice that, while Glasses is not slurring his words, he is also not offering to cast spells tonight or even playing with his cantrips to manipulate the elements for entertainment value...There is a good chance the gnome is at least a bit tipsy, even if he is not as far into his cups as some of the other companions, and is reluctant to engage in the exacting requirements of spellcasting while so under the influence.

Professor, you notice that Thessalandra is very uneasy about handing you her dagger: "Can'tyou jus' think about it? You di'that with the hag..." She, much like the rest of you, is enjoying herself and might have underestimated the strength of the mead.
Thusly reminded that you don't need the physical items or persons of interest to learn information from, the Professor does his best to focus on the cursed dagger you all found and the Captain now wields. At first there is nothing, but then a flash to a scene of battle, with warriors in similar dress fighting each other, and one adorned in a feathered helm and with a large ceremonial breastplate made from gleaming beaten gold stride across the corpses, with one of the wounded raising the dagger, a curse on his lips. Then a fiery forge and a solid piece of metal being hammered into shape by a bearded figure. Cut to a ruined city in the jungle, and the Horned Lady finding the dagger. Then you see the dagger being worn by a proud warrior, with a long, braided beard and armour made out of jaguar pelts, with the head of the animal serving as a skull cap. Lastly, you see the horned lady place the dagger in the hand of a group of slain adventurers located in a familiar-looking hollow. Then the image fades, until you stare at your own reflections again.

Shae could feel the heat rise up to the tips of her ears when Berrus would catch her hiccups and lean in towards her. “I-I’m great!” She’d rush to get her words out before another hiccup could betray her. Her eyes would glance to her remaining mug of mead before her emerald pupils will fall back to Berrus, searching his. “Hic!” Shae would cover her mouth with her fingers again before letting out a chuckle. “I guess trying to chase the hiccups away with more mead could be counter intuitive...” Her cheeks were already flushed. “Mind you, you poured my last mug.” She’d tease.
Her attention would be pulled to that of the Professor who addresses Berrus. Shae would smile at Snively’s eagerness to identify his horn and to assist him on his quest to find the Trueanvils. They all wanted to help. As the Professor calls upon the magic mirror to present the daggers passed, Shae would remain as silent as she could with the exception of a muffled hiccup here or there. Seeing a vision of a mighty Dwarven warrior Shae’s reflex was to gently squeeze Berrus’ forearm where her hand had rested. She’d wait for the others to break the silence, trying to avoid letting another hiccup escape. She’d simply offer a smile.
As the festivities are winding down for the evening, Fang would lean in towards Glasses and whisper “meet you back at the skull” and purposefully and quickly depart the grung village. Heading out into the jungle for a meal that’s a bit more ... raw. Mainly for himself, but also a few scraps for Mushu. Whom had stayed in the pouch Fang fashioned earlier, since he was too frightened to make an appearance during the ceremony for the sheer number of people present.
Shae would wave goodbye to Fang when he would depart. Pausing to blink for a moment, she'll hiccup. She hadn't even considered where she was supposed to stay tonight. "Wait. Wait. Wha? We're to sleep in the hag's skull!?" She'd look partially mortified. "It tripped me! Hic!" Shae would claim, half jokingly. In all seriousness though, she'd rather sleep another week in the jungle under the stars than in that place.

Making notes for later, Snively writes quickly in his journal so the fog of tonight's celebration won't dull his memory...
..."Warriors in similar dress--a civil war or inter-family squabble, perhaps?"...
..."A defeated warrior cursing and striking the gold breastplate leader of the conquering force--perhaps the original source of the curse?"...
..."The bearded figure re-forges the blade, perhaps--is it the same bearded figure with the jaguar pelts, and do they match the iconography at the Hero's Rest grave--(note: compare to sketches in the morning). Or maybe the images are out of order and a different bearded man created the dagger originally"...
..."If the dagger belongs to the person buried at Hero's rest, could the other items he carried be similarly cursed? Or could those other items play a part in removing the curse?"
..."The Hag plants the dagger on slain adventurers...did she place the curse or strengthen it, or did it already carry the effect? In any case she laid a trap for any adventurers coming by later"...
Turning to Shae, he says, "I'll have to do some cross-referencing in the morning, but there appear to be a few leads here." The Professor turns back to the celebration, but ceases drinking the mead in case his magic is needed yet this night.
