Standing at the edge of the shore while the sun begins to set, Snively conjures a shallow concave raft in the water, and fills it with branches gathered by his Unseen Servant. As the sun kisses the water, the Professor lights the branches with his firestarter and pushes the fire pit raft out into the water, using his mastery of the element to move the raft out of the small breakers and onto the smooth water of the cove.
The sun sets, and Snively weaves his magic, molding both fire and water to his will in both shape and color. Starting with the flight of the airship so many days ago, Snively summons the mephit to act as the attacking roc and send them plummeting to the trees below. His voice rising and falling in time with the magic, the Professor reminds them all of the path they have taken, of how far they have come, and of how close they are to the next leg of their journey home. Given Cliff's reaction to reaching the sea, Snively asks him to share what this journey has meant to him so far. He then asks the others to speak what is on their hearts, sharing burdens and celebrating joys together.
The magic show takes less than an hour, but the Professor urges the others to speak as they see fit, being thankful that they could all rely on each other.

It takes a while, but as the evening comes to a lovely remembrance ceremony, you can see the captain tearing up. After a while, she looks to the rest of her crew, then onto Faekin, before looking at the rest of you all. "Sorry we kept this all from you. At first I felt too guilty, and then I didn't believe we were going to make it out of the jungle, so what good would it have done to let you all know. But now- there's no point to keeping you out of the loop." Faekin wants to interject at this point, but the Captain gives him an angry glance and he sits back down.
"The Star Goddess was old and needed repairs. I knew it, my crew knew it. She wasn't made for trade runs, but when we were approached with an off-the books deal, I thought it was the answer to our prayers. Mr Quillsharpner here was representing some Baldurian interests, and had agreed to pay us a sizable sum, if we were to help him get a shipload of armaments, weapons, smith's tools and bars of silver to Fort Beluarian and a certain Blaze Liara Portyr, running the outpost with her mercenaries. Seeing the extra money as a way to pay for the necessary repairs, I accepted, and altered the course to take us there first. Hearing she and her forces were engaged in an archealogical dig at Mezro, we pushed further south, but without the maps for the region, Nhar was blown off course. When we were under attack, the extra load was too much strain and brought the ship down."
She looked pained at admitting that her own greed had gotten you all into the current situation, and you can tell that the two dead comrades and all of your suffering to date rests heavily on her. Falx continues in her stead:
"As Cap'n said, there weren't much point in worrying at the time, but if we get back to Port Nyanzaru, there's bound to be questions- why we were so far south, why we flew away from the normal shipping lines. Blaze Portyr an' her men relied on those weapons and that silver to secure the wilderness against the undead menace around the northern part of the peninsula, and from reputation, she isn't going to stand in the way of her mercenaries letting out their frustrations on us. From what I understand, she's related to a powerful politician in Baldur's gate, who financed the whole thing, and I'm sure they're not best pleased either for losing their investments."
The captain looks around you all, trying to find a glimpse of understanding, or perhaps even forgiveness: "All we ask is that you give us an hour or so when we reach Port Nyanzaru, to disappear. You had nothing to do with this, and I'm fairly sure that no one will come after you for our failures, but to us, it could mean the difference between a life in exile, or a knife between the ribs."
Faekin looks with disgust at the captain: "I told my brother he shouldn't have trusted you..." and turns away from the group, annoyed not only at having failed in his plan, but also now being blamed for their entire mess.

This revelation from the ‘Captain’ resonates very little with Fang who still doesn’t have the greatest grasp of emotions yet and had nothing to do with the airship. After the captain finishes her speech Fang says simply, “Pincushion, most of you have proven your ability to fight and defend yourselves. Maybe you can stay with Lizardfolk in jungle. ... though you may get eaten when you die ...” Fang has nothing further to add and gives Mushu whatever remains of the fish.

Shae couldn't help but feel a little chastised from Maxine's opening remarks about magic regardless whether she intended it that way or not. Shae understood what Maxine meant. But the guilt and shame already existed from her previous desires to be a wizard, and now those feelings cut deeper. Shae took Kam's magic for granted, using it so freely at first, now, she heavily relied on it when all hells would break loose. The warlock would chew her lip and listen as her friend would do her best to logically comb through the little bit of information Shae presented her.
There were things she could nod along with as Maxine would start her explanation, but there were... buts. Then when she would continue, Shae was more uncertain. But even greater so, ashamed that she had been so consumed she hadn't even taken the time to try to check on Kam. The deepest exhale would leave her lips as if her chest was slammed with this realization. The warlock would become immediately distraught. Feeling Kam's presence and checking in on him were two different things. And she failed at the latter.
Eyes wide, Shae was beside herself and barely able to keep focus. Her eyes were darting in every direction, it would take a while for her to register Maxine's final question. And it would be hard for her to want to go back there when she desperately should of be somewhere else. "Darkness so black it could cling to you..." She'd bite her lip to stop it from quivering. It was the truth. Wracked with so many emotions rushing over her, Shae's mind was spinning. She felt lightheaded. She had to 'get some air'. Shae knew Maxine only intended to try to make her feel better. And there was comfort. But the one point was so overwhelming she felt like she was never going to be able to catch her breath if she stayed there. The tunnel of panic was looming over her. "I'm sorry Maxine... Excuse me..." Shae would have to excuse herself but not without giving Maxine's arm a gentle squeeze, leaving the rest of her meal behind.
The warlock would make her own way to the shore. Her first few steps in the sand were unsure and sloppy, but she'd eventually catch herself. Feeling the sea breeze against her skin she would take what felt like her first deep breath in a while. She'd just stop in place and would continue to breath deeply waiting for her own waves to pass. Though this was a storm she'd have to weather a little longer as she'd catch Snively performing his ceremony of respect while the sun began to set. It had been a long time since she fought so hard against her tears. Shae wouldn't make it until the end though. The tears would fall. Reaching down with a hand, Shae would search for the ground on her way down. She needed to sit.
Even when the Captain would begin, giving a full and thorough confession, Shae would barely glance over her shoulder. She would lend an ear to listen. Shae had no anger to give right now. She did however appreciate the captain and crews honesty after everything. Shae was fine with allowing them to disappear, if that's truly what they desired. From her perspective they suffered plenty, lost their own, and fought just as hard for their lives and freedom.
Shae would remain seated. She would pull her tomb onto her lap, tracing its intricate design with her fingers before looking back out over the water in silence. She would wait anxiously for the moon and stars. Occasionally, she'd thumb through the pages, perhaps shedding a tear as she waited.

Fang notices Mushu flying away after getting a few morsels of fish but his attention is focused on the crew and the unfolding situation and doesn’t pay attention to where the creature goes.
Mushu follows Shae with his eyes watching her walk to the shore and subsequent sitting on the beach. As soon as Shae sits Mushu takes wing to go over to the warlock. Without any sense as to why the warlock is sitting alone on the beach. Mushu attempts his favorite game of ‘scare medic’

Maxine sighed - she did wanted to help, but that probably was not the case of "tooth pulling" or "ripping off the Band-Aid" and Shae needed time to heal on her own. She sighed again and went to the Captain and the crew, ready to ask the similar question only to be greeted with big revelation. She sighed the third time - really, the day was not the least as great as it was supposed to be!
"Captain, I might not have the right to talk here - I was a stowaway (not by choice and still do not understand your problems with it, but never mind). Still, we were through so much together, I have to say it. Sorry, I do not see how is anything here is your fault. Not big on politic, would not lie, and do not care much about presence of Flaming First on Chult, no matter what they do. But you were - you still are here, you know how dangerous it is, of course any group of people in the jungle needs weapon. Preferably silvered. You were helping, even if for profit."
"Again, no sailor, but do you honestly think we could outrun Roc somehow? The moment that "bird" appeared we were finished - cargo or no cargo. And from what I saw by now, it could appear anywhere, even on the safe routs. All of this was an accident. May be we could avoid it - true, but may be on your "right and safe" way the ship would encounter something else? You never know, in the sea ships disappear all the time".
"I do not understand why Blaze Portyr would want to harm you - you are the only people who know the exact location of the ship wreak, if I was her, I would want you to join a recovery mission, but if you say those people are vengeful for no reason - so be it. I can not talk about others but your secret is safe with me. No one could know I was there and ... even if someone would, I am not sure anyone would recognize me anyway now. Let's get to the Port Nyanzaru in one piece and there you might become a sea Captain. You already have a boat." Maxine gave the crew the most reassuring smile she could master.

The Professor listens somberly to the captain's confession, listening to the other's reactions first. Then he speaks, saying, "Maxine has it right--if you chose to take a side job on the way to dropping us off, that's your business. And the attack from the roc could have driven us to ground whether or not we were overloaded." He pauses, for a moment, then continues, "But I recall asking questions at the time trying to understand how we could be so far off course, and you mentioned none of this. For this deception, I will accept your apology. For the crash, being off course and overloaded may have been contributing factors, but the fault lies with the roc that attacked us. Once we return to the city, I suggest you own up to the truth with your employers and offer to aid in recovering the lost shipment.
