After the first floating disk repacking effort, Professor S does some thinking for the next time. He can use Mold Earth to have a nice, level, platform 3 feet high adjacent to the disk when it was time to transfer again, so the items could be easily slid sideways, then everyone can rest for a few minutes while he does the ritual, and then they can slide it back much more quickly--less lifting this way, more sliding. Hopefully that will make things go faster.

The professor does shorten the time the items need for restacking down to five minutes, meaning that the party can move 45 minutes out of every hour. The rhythm is good and it provides enough of a break not to tire yourselves. An hour after the Captain admitted that they were lost and that Shae started to try and guide the group, you all reach a small clearing in the woods. Shae, Zip, and Snively, you can spot the plume of a volcanoe far off in the distance, ahead of you in your general direction of travel. Everyone spots that scattered around in front of them are different piles of adventuring gear: a rusted sword and some bloody padded cloth, a broken bow and a moldy pair of boots a couple of feet further away, and in a third pile you see a pan flute and a broken waterskin. Each pile of items seems to piled on top of a small mound of earth, reminding you of graves.

While the others investigated the ground, Shae would look to the trees and above. Spotting the volcano plumes, she would want to consult with the Professor and the Captain to see if the landmark could help orient us on the map. She'd pull out some cartography tools.
Perception (looking for anything 'hiding' in tree tops): 10
Consulting the map with Shae, the Professor looks at the direction off the sun and the relative direction of the volcano peak.
Assuming it is a singular volcano to the north and not a trio of volcanos the the west, Professor S says, “It appears we are south of the western Sky Lizard mountains. If we head north by northwest, we should be able to skirt the mountains to the west and have a clear shot to the coast. What do you think, master cartographer?” He adds, speaking to Shae.
Maxine, you notice that the belongings seem deliberately placed on top of the small mounds of earth.
Shae, you only notice a bunch of small monkeys with long tails watching your party curiously.
As the Professor and Shae pour over the map, Shae determines with some degrees of certainty that they are currently south of the Skylizard mountains, though without a reference to their size, the distance is very difficult to judge, especially since they are unable to see the top of the volcanoe and only have the plume to go by.
For the future, to navigate, roll for survival
Zip, you notice that the monkeys in the trees are bending their tails into odd shapes, in seemingly regular patterns.

Pouring over the map with the professors suggestions, Shae would nod. "We are definitely south of the Skylizard mountains. It's still a little difficult to tell for certain how far we are from them though. I would agree with going North to Northwest to skirt the mountains. I'd be wary about going too far west though." She'd point to the Skylizard's mountain to the right and the Peaks of Flame to the left. Shae would make sure she's speaking loud enough for the others in the group to hear what she says next, "So we will definitely want to keep checking the sky for volcano plumes as markers. Idealy we'd want to keep one volcano to our east, and 3 to our west." She'd point over the tree tops towards the east, then west accordingly as she speaks.
As she's pointing, she'd see the bunch of small monkeys in the trees. Shae would leave the professor with the map for a moment, walking a little closer to the monkeys, making sure not to leave the path, only to start mumbling to herself. "You said something about beast speech this morning..." Yes Shae, you can do it at will.
(Casting Speak with Animals) She would close her eyes for a moment, then clear her throat before trying to speak directly to the small monkeys. "Hi there. My name is Shae. My pack and I are trying to get somewhere safe. Are you able to tell me where we are?" She'd glance down to the graves before looking back up to the monkeys, "Do you know what happened to them?"
"Human, strange to hear you use our tongue. We only know they died here, and that you're in our forest. Follow us if you want to get somewhere safe." Only one of the monkey-like creatures was screeching at Shae, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth. The others sat silently by, watching the party.

"First time." Shae would nod, agreeing that it was strange to her too to be speaking in the monkeys tongue. "Our ship was shot down on our way to our destination, far to the north. My apologies for the intrusion as it wasn't our intent. We would appreciate the safe guidance if you are willing."
"Excuse me." Shae would excuse herself from the monkey with a polite head bow before clearing her throat again to speak normally to Berrus, "They've offered for us to follow them to somewhere safe."
Maxine, you notice that the belongings seem deliberately placed on top of the small mounds of earth.
Should have taken hell of perception to notice that :)))
"They? Or that one particular monkey?" Maxine did not looked convinced. "And are you sure it's monkey talking and not someone controlling her?"
"Perhaps I sound paranoid, but someone killed those people here and buried them. At least it looks like graves. I doubt it was monkey". "On the other hand, may be they - the dead ones - did not have someone who could talk to animals."
"Captain, have you heard any stories here about animal helping people around?"
The captain turned to Maxine, clearly frustrated: "Look, lady, I got no idea about this place. I am a skyship captain. The point of skyships is to stay in the sky. I could tell you about clouds and weather patterns, the winds between Chult and Baldur's Gate, heck, even how to navigate by the stars. I haven't gotten the foggiest clue about the wildlife, the local myths, or where the darn heck we crashed!" Somewhat surprised at the outburst, she quickly added "Look, I'm sorry I yelled, but stop relying on me. I am a stranger to these parts too."

"I know not what North is. But ahead, there's a ravine. Come with us, we will show you a way around." The monkey responded. The others had come closer, curiously approaching the party, their long tails bending and unfurling into different shapes all the while.
