"Giver of life... Shepherd of Death..." Jay comments in his flat tone. "That is what the inscription details." Jay then looks to Paren. "You know how to work these. If the network is arranged, it is likely to prevent any further of these whispers, and we can depart this place. If I assist you in their operations, I will require your aid in aligning them elsewhere, so I may return to the path I came from. Do you find this agreeable?"
Paren looks up from where he's sitting. "My knowledge of everything is limited, especially with my connection to Lugh severed. I will do my best to help. If you are trying to go back somewhere I can do my best to get you there."

senses an odd emotion of pain coming from the stone like it was suffering. She can tell that it needs something but she's not quite sure what she can do to help it or to make it stop.
she can see the strange black coloring shimmering in the darkness. Each of the cuts into the stone seem to slightly glimmer brighter than the exterior. She's seen this type of stone before when she saw the shard that had been found in Holden Heights. But she remembered seeing the stone more recently. Was this what Master Hammerstone was incorporating into the armor and weapons he was crafting and selling to the guards in the Sunforge? Was this the same sort of stone used in the blades of the guards here in Thousand Steps?
Speaking of ore... wasn't that the reason for all the conflict in the Northern Settlements? The Duke was promising ships full of the ore for the investors helping to establish his northern colony. Does the Duke even know that these strange monuments are made from the same ore and stone? Is all of this just a strange coincidence? Who was the Highlander elf looking to buy the smithy from Bomdir?
Tanni continued looking at the stone and could tell there was something more magical about this one than the others. It almost had a sort of pull that tried to draw her to it. Why was this one so different than the one in Holden Heights? Was it just because this one was whole and not shattered into pieces like Paren's had been from the storm?
[We'll pause here for the weekend! Hope you all have a great time and I look forward to diving into this strange obelisk next week! As always, PM me with any questions.]
Jay waits in apprehension to see that will become of Falaine's interaction with the obelisk. Whilst he idly watches, his hand seems ready to lash out if they get attacked...
"Falaine stop. They may be in pain but they only want you the same way they wanted Jonathan. Hold strong, life still needs you more than death." Paren moves to place himself between Falaine and the obelisk, care not to touch it but making sure to block her way.
