With them scattering he looks at the other two and says, "I guess we played that as far as we could. Prepare for an ambush." He pulls out a sword and shield and looks about.

Back at the temple, Badger goes through the illusionary wall and finds himself in a small room through a hidden passage. Donka looks at him. "All clear" he says and wanders back through the passage. A strange grid is etched into the far wall of this stone cell.
Badger shrugs and returns to the main room.

"Prepare for an ambush" says Grenk.
The sounds of kobolds fleeing into the jungle ruins slowly fade away.
Badger rushes forward looking through the hole. It's just a ruin...and perhaps a convenient place to run away from some people who'd have to crawl through the hole to follow.
Soon only the tweeting birds and calls of toads are left. Silas and Sickle, and the two skeletons approach from behind.
You search about the area, but you've actually already been through this section of the city, and though you search, you find nothing of particular interest right here. You hear the not so distant shriek of the feathered king of Omu...but the thuds that follow seem to be trailing away to the north somewhere.
Now what?

"Well we should probably head to one of these shrines next, Papazotl's (bird), Nangnang (frog), or Oba'laka (koala like thing). Does anyone know which one is closest? I believe Donka said those shrines still had their cubes located in them." Mal suggests.
With all the acting done Grenk rolled his shoulders and let out a sigh and mumbled, "don't want to do that again.. " He looked at Mal and said, "I think you're right, those were the ones still there but they are in the yuan-ti territory so we must be cautious."
(Ah, yeah, shadow is better. Maybe something to do with the bat illusion. The words of the riddle fit into the grid, and the shaded letters spell out "COVER EYES".)
In concern for any possible ambush from kobolds, Badger casts Mage Armor on himself. While the disk still holds, he will allow the zombies to ride on it so they don't slow them down. Let's get going then, he replies to Grenk.

Mal creeps forward through the trees and is just passing a large chunk of ruined building on her left when she catches site of a shadowy figure moving in the trees on the other side of a shrub chocked side road. The figure is wearing a dark green cloak but is standing against a white wall and is easy to pick out. It's a man, his eyes scan the forest intensely. Mal crouches, hidden in a good section of shade that contrasts the bright white glare that must be hitting his eyes. She waits. After a moment he waves forward with his hand and creeps between ruins to the next building. Following him, walking with less stealth is what at first appears to be an aged woman, but when she turns her face to look in another direction, Mal sees half of her face is that of a young pretty girl. She wears dark brown cloak over loose black fabric shirt and trousers, a backpack on her back. Three soldiers follow her, well armed as they march through the jungle ruins. Mal motions for the party to be cautious and then returns back to the group to point out the other group. For the moment you've gotten the drop on them as they pick their way through the ruins. Mal recognizes Zagmira, the highest ranking Thayan wizard, along with Tam-Tam their guide in the lead, and Dosh, Miguel, and Scorpion (he was a bit of a pretentious jerk), three of the meat heads they had as hired blades.

Badger will cast Fear on the group (DC 15 WIS), using Portent roll of 3 for Zagmira's saving throw. He will use bonus action to command the two skeletons to attack whoever is left.

Uragums stares as the group of mages. His demeanor changes slightly, hardening and more serious. "That is the group that wanted to capture and command the Soul Monger. We should remove the head of this snake." He reaches down and pulls out his bow he carefully picks a finger and as the blood begins to form he smears it across the bow. The blood draws itself into symbols across the length. Uragum then pulls out some of the Yuan-Ti posion arrows.
"Give the signal and I shall attack," he whispers.

“Hmph. What was that about?” Sickle scratches his nose in thought. “Should we search these ruins or move along?”
(Not sure if Badger would have mentioned the riddle back there but I took the answer to be shadow)
(Grenk ignored the riddle because they got the cube, but who knows, maybe it's a secret weapon to defeat the BBEG.)
