Rober puts down the quill, being careful to blot it dry first. Reading through the report he has prepared, Rober nods in satisfaction. "Not bad for my first report as Occultant, eh, Cyryc?" he says to his familiar. Rolling the report on the teams activities at the so-called haunted house, he slides it into a scroll case, which he caps.
"Now...for a little more occultancy." Reaching over he picks up his abacus and being making calculations, trying to determine what is yet to come, which way the winds of the gods will send them. "I probably need more information for this, Cyryc, but, you know, it's my job." The lizard just eyes him.
OOC: Just a try but I'm supposed to be able to '...measure the karmic coordinates of the franchise..." to "...gain portents of that which is yet to come." Worth a shot.
That task completed, Rober pulled out more sheets of parchment and begin composing letters to the magical schools in the major cities along the Sword Coast. In each letter, he asked the same thing: "Did they now or had they ever has a student or teacher at their school named Rosalin." It was time to begin the search for his sister Rosalin. With the letters written, Rober walked into town to mail them off. That task done. he walked around Salt Marsh, looking for any place where wizards might congregate, to continue his search for his previously unknown sister, here. He will also ask in the same places if the three books he took from the house (The Magical Properties of Gemstones, and The Magical Properties of Herbs and Flowers both by Tenser, and The Metaphysics of Mathematics by Nystul) are worth anything. He is not selling them yet, as he wishes to read them and will spend any additional time during the week doing that. As an Eldritch Knight such things are of interest to him.
ooc: As per Rober's background he wants to find the sister he never knew he had and he wants to read those books.
(Along with making my forge, Orgen will perform a secret action he did before. As the hordsman, he will also sell off the items we captured and spilt the gold evenly between the party. So what price can I fetch for a longsword and 6 shortswords? Not counting the swords and along with the payment received from the town. everyone will receive 81 Gold and 4 silver. I would also like to purchase smithing tools.)
Orgen goes around the tower till he finds Rober. Walking up to the man the dwarf smiles and says, "Hello my friend as your Hordsman I notice you picked up a bag of holding. If you don't mind would you relinquish it to me for now? I will give it back as soon as I find one for myself."
Hector feels inadequate for not being able to step up and row the boat when needed at the "haunted" house. He decides he does not want to disappoint again should the need arise or if their next gig involves using the boat they found. So, he spends the week starting to teach himself how to row a boat and have it go in a direction that is intentional rather than random.
Feanaro fully takes stock of what facilities are in the tower to begin with ( my apologies but I could not find any references to what kind of workshops the tower has. Perhaps this is a good place for a rehash of that?) and also does his best to assist Orgen with setting up the forge since they can both make use of it. He of course would also like to set up a combined workplace for all his tradeskills.
Speaking to the group briefly, "Yes, the Hordesman should receive the bag. As for the other items, we should decided who shall get the Luckstone (DragonDenn, you mentioned the Luckstone and then also mentioned that we found a stone in the alchemists pockets. are they the same stone?) and also what we should do about this tome to create a Philosopher's Stone. Now, I am skilled in alchemy but not as specialized as some. I could attempt to read the book and see about creating one if we all agree, I am not sure what the cost of failure would be such as losing the book entirely, in which case we would lose the fifty gold sell price.
Alex would explore the town that he is in. Also, with the money he has he would go see what appears in markets or other shops. Alex will also be making a personal map of the town so he can remember where everything is at as he hates to be lost.
OOC: If there is anything that would not be produce or common armor or weapons in the shops then Alex would at least look at what is in stock. Otherwise his main goal is to map out the town even if there is a town map.
Feanaro ... You find that there are rooms you can set up as you like. If you purchase, or have, the tools, you can set up a room as a forge no problem. Same goes for other tools and kits. I left it that the place was an open floor plan you could have whatever rooms you wanted in.
Alex ... You find the shops in won have only normal gear, armor, and weapons. You have no problems mapping the town. Give me a prof + dex + d20 roll to see how good of a job you do with the map making.
Hector ... You spend some time learning to Navigate a boat. Mark 1 week worth of work towards gaining Navigator's Tools prof.
Orgen ... You can add 20 GP for the longsword and short swords you are selling. You have no problems setting up your forge once you buy the required tools.
Rober ... You get the idea that there will be something to do with a boat in the group's future. You also complete the letters and send them out, but do not hear any responses in the week. That is not unexpected, since it takes a while for letters to reach these places.
Rober puts down Nystul’s tome as an idea strikes him, an idea accompanied by an image. The trainers back at Company HQ had told him about this so he was not surprised but he was gratified.
”A boat, hmm...then it is a good thing Hector has been practicing with the boat.”
That evening, as the team sits down to dinner, he taps his spoon on his goblet, “Excuse me, friends. I’ve run some calculations on my abacus and believe that we will have some work ahead of us involving a boat...maybe the one we found, maybe another. But something to do with a boat.”
Feanaro stops Ogren as he speaks up that he is off to buy tools for a smithy, "Sir Ogren! I am please to tell you that I have in my possessions the proper equipment to set up a smithy. If you would not mind assisting me we can set it all up together. I would be happy to set it up to your likings." He shows the dwarf some of the easier to handle parts of the kit as proof. Feanaro wil also set up places to work with all of his professions, i.e. Alchemy (using the new stuff we procured from the alchemists house), Leatherworking, Tinkering, Weaving and Woodcarving. Outside the joint workshop room he sets out a blackboard sign with a chalk hanging from it. It states, "Taking orders. Please submit what it is you may need that I can provide."
After setting up and seeing as no one specifically mentioned the philosophers stone tome, he begins reading it. Taking the time and working through it slowly to try and gasp the foreign yet exciting concepts.
DM: Will the book become unuseable if I fail my DC 20 Intelligence check? Do I get any bonuse from knowing alchemy or being an Obviator?

No, the book is just a book, so it is still usable. You are a subject-matter expert, so the check really isn't needed. That is only needed by those who are not alchemists themselves. The book details how to make a “philosopher’s stone,” then describes how that object can be used to convert base metal into gold.
OOC: So after setting up the workshops, any extra time will be gathering what is needed to create the Stone. Other than that Feanaro is ready to move on)
