The group moves back out to the hall with the fiendish carvings along the walls, and then to the stairs down into the Pillar Forest. With Mache in the lead, you find the place empty of any bugbears or anything else. A skeleton of a Giant Constrictor is curled up the length of one of the pillars though, and an empty alcove at the base of another looks to have been looted some time ago. There are four stairs leading out of here, one back the way you came from, one South, the way the bugbears were heading, one North, and one opposite the way you came in from. On the wall in the Southern corner of the area is a sign that reads 'Certain Death...' and has an arrow pointing to the Southern stairs.
"2nd vote for certain death, figure that's goin to be where we need to head seeing of what we've heard about the place." Norelan says as he chuckles at the sign

" yes, Certain death it is..the only things certain in life are death, and nagging wives.."
" I am sure them hugga bears will be anxiously awaiting to ambush us. We did make them wait a bit"
Donkee will check out the snake skeleton and consider grabbing its skull as well. There has to be some left over loot somewhere in this place. Maybe the snake skull could fetch a few gold in town and we could use it as a neat prop when telling stories of our glorious battles and how we killed the snake with our bare hands.
Perception:11
After a short period of consideration, Donkee grabs the skull and secures it too the outside of his pack with some string
As soon as Donkee touches the skeleton the whole thing falls down with a clatter of bones. Nothing bad happens, the bones just scatter over the floor of the cavern. He tucks the skull into his pack though.
Taman shrugs and nods to the South. He then glances to the North. "My only question is that we heard the footsteps behind that first door to the North..." He nods to the northern stairs. "Whomever was on the other side of that door we could not open would be that way..."
Vaden gives Donkee a half-hearted smile, but keeps his distance. He is more anxious than ever now that you had your first battle.
" it's possible, but could be those south running hairy backed bugbears could have been those dudes...I have to map this whole place anyway, so we will get to them eventually. Just keep your senses attuned for tricks, traps and ambushes...And of course loot. I will be really ticked off if other adventurers already picked this place clean..."
"Well, we are game for both. I just want to get a move on. If it is going to be backtracking on and off, we may be down here longer than expected. Let's keep at it though. And yes, Donkee is right on, lets keep an eye out for some goodies to come home with."
"Alright Donkee, you and I head through while they loot, make sure nothing sneaks up on us. Then we get loot sorted afterward?" Norelan asks as he hoists his shield and crossbow

(ooc: is it possible for you to post a chunk of the map that we have explored so far withn the compass direction? I am hand drawing a map as we go and want to see how close I am and to get my bearings correct. Also, can you be sure to include distances.)
Ok, not sure this worked or not, but here is what I have for a map so far. The sections with ... would be about 1 mile of tunnel. A note is that tunnels are not straight, so figure they wind a bit, but head in the general direction still. All other cells are to be considered 5 ft X 5 ft.
Does Shadowlight smell or hear anything coming from either direction? Perception (passive 13) 7
"Got a clue?" Rurik says to Shadowlight telepathically.
Shadowlight would smell something in both directions, probably the bugbears that have crossed the area. Does he go down either tunnel to see which way the scent is stronger, or more recent?

I'll send him down the west tunnel first.

He says, "Well that route there has my vote, what do you guys wanna do? Send out that little guy there (pointing at Mache)?"

Secundus says: If I'm going to risk death, it may as well be for a real shot at gold. "Certain Death" gets my vote as well.

Heading up the Southern stairs, the group moves along some tunnels, until you come to a t-shaped intersection. You can go either East or West here.
Taman has his light spell up at this point.
Donkee says " when in doubt, go left.."
