As the group pushes on past the hall with the fiendish carvings in it, you come to the stairs that lead down into the pillar forest.
Mache informs his master at this point that there appear to be two bugbears ahead, who are moving stealthily towards the Southern stairs out of the pillar forest.
Lupin also notices the two figures that are moving towards the Southern stairs.
Secundus informs the group of the incoming Bugbear enemies, and then uses his one with shadows ability to turn himself invisible. He sets himself in a position where, with the help of Mache's sight, he will have a good view of any approaching people from the stairs, but is still protected by as many of his colleagues as possible.

Donkee knows we have an advantage being on the high ground, so he resists rushing in to slay the sasquatch like bugbears.
He yells out to the ugly beasts to taunt them and their fragile egos
" Hot dogs, time smash some bugs. Hey you ugly suckers, your mother's must have slept with an otyugh in order to produce kids as nasty looking as you. You are weak and pathetic like a crippled goblin monkey"

Upon hearing about the approaching enemies, Rurik asks "Do we want to slash first and ask questions later, or see what their intent is, while some of us lay in wait? Is it possible they are just in transit like we are?"
Telepathically, Rurik says to Shadowlight, "Hide close, lay low, be ready. We have a potential threat approaching from the pillars."
"Well that will definitely sort that quickly enough, ha," Rurik says after hearing Donkee's little speech.
You would all know that you are at the Eastern stairs to the Pillar Forest, while the [monster]Bugbear]/monster] are heading towards the Southern Stairs. They are thus not coming towards you, but are already heading away. Is anyone wishing to try and stop them?
" could be a set up. Bugbears dont generally run when their mother's beauty is called into question. They love to ambush folks though. I say send Mache to sneak about and see if any others lurk. Or someone whith spells or bow should shoot them in their hairy behinds to get the. To come our way. We are not here to share loot or glory with other competitors so there are no friendly down here."
"Eh mates let em be, rather not make any enemies round here if we don't need. Hell only know what well have to be facin round here, no need to weaken ourselves unnecessarily." Norelan says as he lays against the wall waiting for the groups decision

Ok, no need for initiative unless you are chasing them. Also, remember Taman has cast Light So everyone can see just fine, unless you wish for him to drop it at some point. he would have removed his Goggles of Night so he will have to put those on again if you want him to end the light spell. Of note he also has a Bullseye Lantern But is not currently using it.
[OOC: Sorry, I didn't know if he had actually cast the spell. When not moving, Secundus will still try to stay in shadows to take advantage of his invisibility)
Not a problem. In the hall it was only 20 feet wide, so you would have had to stay 20 feet ahead of or 20 behind the group, but, once we reached the Pillar Forest you could easily find darkness to use your invisibility in. Once the group gets to a point where he can get into his pack Taman will get out the lantern and start using that instead. Then the light is only one-direction, so you can easily find darkness behind Taman after he starts using it.
"I would prefer to not go chasing an unknown enemy into uncharted territory. I say, if they are luring us into some trap, then we would do well to take our time getting there. Sticking together and making them play by our rules seems the wiser course." Rurik pats Shadowlight's head. "Shadowlight has their scent, and will let me know if they are near again. Lets proceed at our pace, not theirs."

" that's why I said we should shoot them in butt and draw them to us. They be at a disadvantage coming up the stairway especially if they are sporting arrows in them or their flesh is burning from magic fire or something, if they get away they might be heading to get reinforcements. I say kills em' now, so we dont have to kill them and their whole crew later"
Donkee glances back at the now headless Kenku rogue skeleton and asks his opinion. Something has been nagging in the back of his mind about the skeleton ever since he swiped its skull.

"Bah, they're not coming towards us. Shall we pursue with haste or let the chicken littles run away to die another day?"
Telepahtically to Shadowlight, "Do you have their scent? Be ready for a chase depending on what this lot wants to do."

An invisible voice comes out from behind Donkee, belonging to Secundus
"Mache is happy to help. However, while he does so, I will be bereft of my ability to see in the dark. Will anyone be able to help me."
Mache is not happy to help, and tells Secundus so in graphic detail
