(Just point the cell you are attacking - it's not that obvious, but there is a numbered grid there. And say if it was range of melee - you are the only one who can do both)
There are icons in cells B6, M6, V5, Q16/17. Do we select those specifically, or just any cell that's shaded black?
Quick strategy talk: Seems to me that if we push through the thinner sections in rows 9-12 we risk getting surrounded by the entire demon horde. Maybe better to flank around to rows 19-20 and push through there, and hopefully only have to battle the demons around Q16/17.
If we just target an icon-group, then I'll choose Q16/17. If we need to fight through the black-shaded cells individually, then target U18. Since I can attack at range, I'll approach as near as necessary to be within range.

Fran would exhale a breath of relief when all went well. It was hard for her not to grin. She'd flash a wink before pulling her goggles down onto her face. The artificer would hop down and get into position.
Roll: 23
(Strategic talk: My thought was to skirt down that way too. The Warmachines I picked (Fran got war machines ya? lol) literally trample/mow down mobs as they move (Crushing Wheels: Scavengers and Demon Grinders)? They can come in like a 'wrecking ball'? They don't have range (harpoons/turrets)? Sorry XD )

"Alrighty boys, they're clearing a path for us! Follow the cannon fodder and the rest of them will guard our backs..." Polly cries out to her Bone Demons. "Let them do the heavy lifting, we'll step over them and claim the glory when the time comes!"
Polly was accustomed to not being on the front lines and sees no reason to change that now. She doe she best she can to keep her troops positioned in the center of the ranks, nice and protected... And of course viciously attacking any stray outsiders who may sneak through the frontal guard.
Subtly, quietly, Polly does what she can to actually move her demons into place to back up and support the front guard wanting all of her friends to somehow make it through this... But she figures it best not to let the demons know she wants them working as a team... Better to extol the glories to come and power to be gained aloud, and softly sneak them into doing the right thing.

(Assuming attack at U19, Ordrag - range, Polly - waiting for the opening from others, demons roll and anything equal/above hits)
It did not look easy, of course, but had to be possible - combined attack on a flank, it had to work! And yet, those deformed hateful creatures, that managed to crawl from the rive and over the field to the cliffs did not fell. A swamp of ichor slowered down the war machines, while myrmidons and abishay units found itself fighting on two fronts - the neighboring hoards of demons joined the defense. Ordrag's devils sent fire on the abominations form Abyss, but they manage to resist that as well.
Then they attacked: U18 vs Adray12 , U19 vs Fran, U20 vs Choir7
(Adray, Choir, Fran - two rolls one for defense, one for offense, Polly and Ordrag - offense only)
Still same formula: d20 + 4 , but Polly only attacks for now (if she does) - her unit is melee and need to engage the enemy (any black square). At the moment she and her devils are behind the line.
Other available actions:
Dash. A unit that dashes increases its speed for its turn. This increase equals the unit’s speed. Defend. A unit that defends focuses on building a shield wall or otherwise making itself harder to hurt. Until the end of its next turn, units that attack it suffer disadvantage on their BR checks. Disengage. A unit that is adjacent to an enemyunit normally can’t move. If the unit takes the Disengage action, it has the chance to move away. The unit must immediately make a DC 10 morale check. If it fails, it loses its action and doesn’t move. If it succeeds, it can move up to half its speed. During this move, it doesn’t needto stop if it moves adjacent to an enemy unit. Guard. A unit that guards prepares to attack any enemy that draws close to it. The next time an enemy unit enters a space adjacent to this unit, it immediately makes an attack against the enemy unit.

The battle continued - clashing forces of two evils trying to eviscerate each other. The skirmish on the farthest side of the field looked small in comparison, but no less fierce.
Adray's abishai forces successfully blocked the attack from the small horde abominations, though the momentum was lost and Kruul could not make the unit to break demonic defenses, there were no casualties and hope was not lost.
Interesting situation developed on Fran's position: the warmachines, still struggling on the slippery swampy surface, could not move forward and yet the warbands managed to defend the vehicles. What they needed now is a big push, that would finally do what they were designed for - grinding demons.
Choir's elementals were stuck in a fruitless confrontation as well - neither side was able to anyhow harm one another despite the presence and active participation of allies.
Ordrag's devils could probably realize by now the futility of their fire attacks - probably it was time to get to melee range.
Polly's small elite squad had to join melee now, if the team planned to get through the demon defenses any time today - Elturel did not have much time. But so far devils managed only to probe their opponent.
Demons, indifferent to their target and bent only on destruction anything that moves around here, attacked again : U18 vs Polly 13, U18 vs Adray13 , U19 vs Fran 16, U20 vs Choir20
(Again - defense/offense for everyone, except Ordrag - his unit is behind.)

Fran would actually chuckle to herself over the unique situation. Mud always proved to be a challenge when machines are stationary, but if they could just get that one good push to get their forward momentum, surely they’d be well on their way. “Heave! Ho!” She’d chime, rocking and pushing from where she was as if it were going to contribute to rocking and moving the machine.

Looking at the battlefield, it seems like punching through the southern flank is probably the best bet, and Ordrag directs his unit in that direction.
Here's a roll: 9

Any cell, the color of the cell is the color of the occupants, icons are just indicators of "black - demons, red - devils".
