Nasaar, whose attention had been elsewhere, glanced to the grass as the group came to a stop. He tells his familiar to keep an eye on the giant badger and snake, just mentally this time, and grips his warhammer as he watches the grass closer-at-hand himself.
Rusty hopes he is not being unnecessarily cautious and that his traveling companions do not think ill of his caution. The mention of combat between a giant mammal and reptile combined with the obvious movement towards their position is enough to give pause to their endeavor.
The supposed grass comes closer to the group but even as it is before Rusty, it doesn't do anything. It goes underfoot and passes by Rusty, even passing by Kierran. You notice a few more masses of grass move about.
"When we first came here, those snakes were biting at us until Coral talked to some snake and got them to stop...but they're running away right now...let's just keep going." Kierran says. He starts to walk, passing by a few more masses of small snakes. "While the drake hounds is the main obstacle, we still have to worry about the Poison Dusk Scales."
The confederation of the Poison Dusk are lizardfolk that are hostile to settlers and the Cold Sun Federation. The reason so far is unknown but each attempt at negotiation ended with violence.
The party keeps advancing, letting the swarms of snakes pass by. And the fighting eventually dies down, (@ Nasaar)
The badger was victorious and started to make its den in the snake's former home, keeping its carcass for a meal later.
and the jungle was quiet once more. After an hour of trekking, you all reach a clearing with a massive tree at the center. It's grey trunk shows faded carvings and the canopy of branches provide shade against the sun. Small ruins and rubble liter about the tree, what could have been a stone arc is reduced to a collapsed heap of rocks due to weather.
"The village used to use this place as a market grounds for the clans near here. Also did ceremonies and stuff here as well. Asked them if they ate sacrifices here and they just told me it was for joining of clans, treaties, and for concerns. Then it stopped once the Poison Dusk attacked them here...But this is our first stop, next is the drake hounds territory. Should we wait for night or go during the day?"
"...I'm asking since my crew and I got attacked during the day. Can't tell if they were sleeping or were hunting for food since I was busy getting my crew out alive. I can tell you that they have a nasty bite. Poisoned a few of my crew but we all made it. Once we get past them, our next destination is a former dragonborn village." Kierran informs.
"I am good with waiting for nightfall if you think it prudent." Nasaar agrees, having his familiar do a scouting circle around the area they are in. If they are waiting here Nasaar will cast detect magic as a ritual, moving around the area to see if he finds any lingering magic.
"Sure, only a couple of hours till nightfall. I didn't bring any torches with me so I can't help you there, Daggers." Kierran nodded to Sylvester. "I'm going to take a nap by the tree."
@ Nasaar
You find no traces of lingering magic.
(If Axon agrees to do a watch, both Axon and Rusty do a perception check.)

(OOC: That works for me)
Hari merely draws her blade and watches the grass in case the fight spills over to here.

Sylvester responds to Kierran: “Why is that strange? What’s different then the last time you where here?”

Kierran asks as he sits atop a stone.

"Seems tactical then to wait for nightfall" Axon said, keeping his eyes on the route behind them.
If we are to take a hiatus from our expedition at this location, Axom and I can take watch at opposite sides to maximize our sentry coverage.
