Roland stretches, still in his werehippo form. "YEAH! That hurt like hell, but we're here! I'M COMING FOR YOU, TREASURES!" He yells out into the air enormous cavern.
Ormond winces, and barks in a stage whisper at Roland, "Stop yelling all the time. We don't want EVERYONE to know the we're here! There's no one here to recognize you and shower you in accolades - only things that will make you its meal or worst."
Ormond rubs both his temples, then looks up at Roland, still rubbing his temples, and says, "Sorry."
Ormond looks around for anything that the party may have dropped or otherwise lost in the immediate surroundings, and checks to see what gear and equipment he still has on him after the fall. He then goes on alert, assuming something will come to see what made the recent ruckus.
As Ormond looks around, he touched Deshthi's shell and gives them a vigilant blessing.
Vigilant Blessing As an action, you give one creature you touch (including possibly yourself) advantage on the next initiative roll the creature makes. This benefit ends immediately after the roll or if you use this feature again.
“Yeah, I know. But where exactly...” Penny sits up, then stands up. Then she starts looking around for something, finally coming up with a flat box. She pulls a map out of her underclothes and unfolds it while opening the box. It is felt lined and contains a few instruments of curious design.
Without hesitation she picks one out and begins peering about at the ceiling, measuring and figuring in her head, then looking to the map. She seems, against all odds, to know what she is doing.
(Adding her proficiency bonus for proficiency with Cartographer’s Tools to a straight up Int roll to find out something about where we are, depth, latitude, etc., whatever. Roll: 6)
"You clearly don't believe in pre-fight rituals. It's for good luck." Roland rubs his fingers on a nearby leaf. "The plants here look promising though, got myself a present before we left, and I got some AWESOME ideas for it." He shakes a box of his own lightly. The faint clattering of glass vials can be heard from within.

Penny can determine that this is deeper than she has ever been. Its, quite truly, a completely different world from the one that she knew. She can at least determine the distance of things.

Distracted (as always) by the sudden appearance of scientific equipment, Deshi is broken out of their reverie. They notice Penny struggling a bit with her new tools and they quietly turn a assessor's lens right side up in her hands.
(Advantage to Penny's roll? Otherwise, 6 to help directly)
(Ha! Stupid tortle. Maybe Penny should just take the advantage...)
“What, oh, thanks,” Penny says distractedly as Deshthi rights the tool. “Wow, we are deep. Much deeper than any mine I’ve ever been inside, and I’ve been in a few.”

Deshi blinks. "Deshi thinks... If we are all of us whole, we should press onward." They look up (Is there a rift far above?). They look around (Are they in a safe location? Imminent risk of collapse? Enemies about?)
Perception: 21
(Why? Why, dice roller? Did I offend you somehow?)
"Yeah, I think I'm fine, considering." Penny checks herself out. "Here, we should keep track of our progress! It's so exciting, we might be the first people to see... this... what am I saying?!"
Penny drops her tools and her map like a hot potato. "What the... I..."
She looks around at the others, embarrassed. "Whatever, let's just go." She scoops up her stuff and gets ready to move out.

"Hobbies are okay," Omond says to the flustered Penny.
Are there any structures or other high points of land in the near distance that we could go to and conceivably get a broader view of the country side? Perhaps a path up to the top of the waterfall?

From Deshi’s understanding, the fissure likely dumped the group into the series of underground tunnels, the tunnels then pinballed you around before ultimately depositing you out of a waterfall in the side of the rock. As for enemies or collapse... it’s hard to tell.

The waterfall was out of a sheer cliff side, however, Ormond can see higher points deeper in the jungle. With his understanding of this place, he remembers the locale well. Large reptiles roam these lands, the Militia called them ‘Dinosaurs.’ They could eat a man while without blinking. Plus, the native people could be equally dangerous...

Roland looks around at the ground for any tracks of large game, dangerous animals, or natives. If he finds the tracks he gives them a good sniff, trying to discern if there are any close by at the moment and which direction they went.

There are definitely tracks heading Northeast. As for the creatures, the prints are strange. They seem like just massive, rounded, bumpy hooves. The print itself is roughly the size of your chest, and move throughout the clearings. Meanwhile, further in the distance, Roland can see that the altitude seems to decline. However, from this distance, its hard to get any bearings.

"I'd suggest a higher vantage point," Ormond says pointing into the distance. He continues, "I need to find out why the Militia went from hiding the existence of this world to actively exploring it. Perhaps a different perspective is needed."
He then offers, "Keep your guard up... The local natives don't take kindly to visitors and the giant lizards that live here are just as happy stomping us as they would be tearing us limb from limb as their meal."
Roland steps into the giant tracks. "These have rounded tips, may not be meat-eaters, but dangerous all the same. They went that way. The lands are lower there." He then puts his palm in the deep footprint and picks up some dirt, throwing it off into the jungle. "They're big. Thats for sure."
