The townsfolk get ushered in through the gate by Linan and Lyria. A voice from inside yells, "You get in here too! We're closing the gate, you're the last group!"

As you enter the keep the gate slams shut behind you. It is brightly lit inside, and no one in the current area seems to have anything beyond minor injuries. "Good, I think that's almost everyone in town. Go see Governor Nighthill, he wanted to see everyone coming in. He is planning our next move."
Congrats! We've finished session #1! In AL rules, this equates to about 4 hours of a hardcover adventure. (This was probably not close to 4 hours in real time, but you're getting the rewards anyway because the adventure says this is a good time to be level 2.)
You all gain a level! Use only options from the PHB and your chosen +1 when choosing subclass, spells, etc. Use fixed HP increase. With that level comes other rewards: With a moment to breathe, you all take the time to count the gold and valuables that you had been liberating from the thieving raiders as you killed them. Apart from some purely sentimental items that you turn over to Linan and Cuth who say they'll find the owners, you come up with 80 gold each. (This is flavor text, the gold comes with the level.) You gain 10 Downtime Days, an AL specific resource that allows for downtime activities from the PHB.
Your AL Logsheet: If you haven't already checked out the one I use: Adventurersleaguelog.com, feel free to just keep a document, or even handwrite it in a notebook, or your character's notes on their sheet. Though there is no required format, you must use some form of Adventure Logsheet to track your character’s rewards from adventure to adventure. At the end of each session, you’ll record the following information in your Adventure Logsheet:
Adventure Name. Write the name of the adventure you played (if a hardcover, write the session’s number). Advancement. Indicate whether your character gained a level at the end of the session. Gold. Indicate how much gold your character earned and/or spent during the session. Magic Item. Note magic items that your character gained and lost during the session. Downtime. Annotate downtime days that were earned and spent during the session and what downtime activities they were spent towards. Adventure Notes. Record other important things that happened during the adventure or information you’ll need later, here: deaths, special rewards (story items/effects, etc.), etc. For hardcover adventure sessions, record the number of hours you’ve played since gaining your last level.
So for this session it might look like this: Hoard of the Dragon Queen (session #1) Gained a level (now level 2) / Advanced from level 1 to 2 / Gained 1 level in _______ (However you want to word it) Gained 80 Gold Gained 10 Downtime Days Gold spent: DT spent:
You can also use the time between a session to purchase and sell equipment. You can buy any common non-magical item from any player resource. You can purchase potions and scrolls as noted: Buying Potions and Scrolls Your character can buy potions and scrolls, as follows: Potion of… / Cost Healing /50 gp Greater healing /100 gp Superior healing /500 gp Supreme healing /5,000 gp Water breathing /100 gp Climbing /75 gp Animal friendship /100 gp Invisibility /5,000 gp
Spell Scroll Level / Cost (not including components) Cantrip 25 gp 1st 75 gp 2nd 150 gp 3rd 300 gp 4th 500 gp 5th 1,000 gp
The ALPG which has all this information and the link to the Logsheet website I use are on the main campaign page, but I will answer any questions you have about the process.
When everyone is ready we'll start session 2.

I purchased enough medical kits for a small army, and am ready to go. I'm sorry for not introducing myself sooner, I must admit that I did not think much of some of you before. I'm not here in any official capacity, I'm searching for a friend. Why are all of you here?
Hordkhen walks in and mills about trading where available from the refugees. He notices Potato hovering and mumbles, reaches to his shoulder and taps a pauldron- "High-ground if the pinkskins get antsy." He grins awkwardly- while turning back to the merchant observing the two- he lurches forward and grumbles 'BOO' at him, and stuffs his purchases; a Pouch, an extra waterskin, an empty glass bottle, two oil flasks and a lamp, in his pack.
Strun Kod sheepishly buys a potion of healing. Then goes to stand near hordkhen leaning against the wall changing position. Then goes to sit on the floor decides not to and goes back to leaning on the wall with his arms crossed thinking that this is the pose that makes him look coolest.
with the 3 good berry's he has left he casts good-berry again and puts 1 in his pocket for later and offers the rest of the 12 to anyone that wants it in order of
the party he just fought with
any other warriors that need it that can help fight
anyone that it would help their well-being
children women
keeps any left over - specifically not offering it to men that won't fight
Place': The party has been miraculously healed! A few guards graciously accept goodberries, and a couple of "children women" look banged up enough to benefit from them. Let's say you have 5 left after that. I will even say that we can make this happen retroactively, before the end of the session, so that you can get your spell slot back.
Kod: Looking good, man.
Everyone: Lyria is trying to start some RP to get to know all your characters, if you missed it.
We are now starting Session 2 Those of you who purchased Healing Potions, keep in mind that you now have your free Healing Potion as your Renown Reward for the session, as well as your Inspiration back if you used it. If you didn't use your inspiration or healing potion from Session 1, it is now gone. You aren't allowed to trade or give each other gear, however, you are allowed to lend gear to other characters until the end of a session. If that gear happens to be a consumable item and gets consumed while they're borrowing it, so be it. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*
While you're shopping around, chatting, and helping out the townsfolk, a commanding figure enters the common area from an open staircase to the side, a human male of about sixty years. The right side of his face and head are bandaged, his right arm hangs in a sling, and his light blue tunic is stained with blood, presumably his own. He moves about quickly and with purpose, ignoring his injuries, or at least not letting them slow him down. He scans the room quickly, you notice he pauses for a split second on each of your faces, betraying a light smile as he does so. He then singles out a shield dwarf with knotted, tangled, bright red hair, yelling, "Escobert! With me."
"Aye, Sir!" The dwarf carries an enormous ring of iron and brass keys that jingle and clang around as he hurries to the well-dressed commander. The human strides past him directly to you. The dwarf clumsily spins around in a clanking cacophony of clanging keys follows on his heels.
"Greetings travelers. I am Governor Tarbaw Nighthill, and while I'm afraid we have no time for much more formal introductions than that, we can talk while we move. Follow me to the parapets. From there, we have the best view of Greenest so you can see what we're up against."
He turns back around and quickly returns to the staircase he came from, the dwarf running behind him.

I enter with conviction.
I approach this voice of authority. Do your people require any aid or assistance?. If yes, I serve in any capacity I can.

Potato sticks really close to Kod and Hord as they enter. Potato has enough problems to risk being confused with one of the kobolds they just fought.

In response to Lyria. "I'm here to kill someone. I think he's here. The robes make me think he's here and I'm going to kill him."
To the Governor. "What do you want with us?"
