"I think i know who you are talking about. Dazlyn Grayshard and Nobus Ironrune. They were searching for minerals in the foothills of the Swordhilt Mountains, around 15 miles south of here. If you got a map, i can mark the location of their claim for you."
Since you don't have a map yet, she will offer you a map, you can chose between a general map of Neverwinter woods/Starmetal Hills and Swordhilt mountains for 5gc (the one i linked in the campaign description) or a detailed map of the Swordhilt mountains only, for 10gc, but that would give you advantage on all survival rolls for orientation in that area.
"Da more detailed map me thinks." Dain says, accepting half of the coin from his companion, then paying the other half himself. "Ye said it be 15 miles then..." He remarks, looking over the map. "Best be getting dat midwife lass ta town and get moving towards da miners then, or it will be gettin dark fore we make it to em." He gives the lady miner a nod, then turns to head out.
Relgalyn will offer to pay his share of the map as well, adding with laugh, "Part of the reason I was up in those mountains as long as I was was because I didn't have any idea how to get back here, a good map is worth the coin."
Otrov already paided the healers kit, so let‘s say you two , Relgalyn and Dain, you pay 4 gold each and Otrov chips in the other two.
Dain when you mention the midwife, Halia calls you back for a moment. She shows you an old ruin marked on the map just south of Phandalin. „The midwife, she lives in an windmill right next to this ruin. When you are around two miles south of Phandalin, you should start seeing it in the distance, it is on top of the hill in the south.“
Imagin a clock, with pandalin in the middle, the midwife is at 6 oclock 5 miles away, the dwarfs are at 7 oclock 15 miles away. So overall you add maybe two miles of deetour.
Looking over the map Dain nods and puts the map away. "Let's be off then." He says and starts out. When Otrov makes her showy acrobatics he gives her a amused chuckle, then gestures them on the way. He would head straight towards the midwife's place.
Overland travel: everyone may roll one skill check (Rangers can roll 2)
You may roll perception, stealth, survival (orientation), survival to find food and water, nature if you look for ingrediants for potions and such. Or anything else you can reasonably do while traveling.
Travel speed fast: only roll perception and survival(orientation) with disadvantage
medium: roll perception and orientation normal, everything else at disadvantage
slow: perception and orientation with advantage, everything else normal
(Does having a map give you advantage on the checks? If not then I'll RP getting someone else to read it as Dain is clearly bad with maps and orientation...)
The midwife is easy to find, with a clear landmark visible from far away, no survival needed here. And yes the map you got will give youn advantage (or cancel disadvantage when traveling fast) in the sword mountains.
Relgalyn will follow the other two, paying no attention to his surroundings as he fiddles with his lute, periodically playing small snippets of horribly off-key discordant notes before nodding approvingly and fiddling with another string.

"If ye be knowin da location of da dwarf miners we be going ta go en warn em." Dain adds in with a nod to his companions.

"Much thanks." Dain tells the miner lass as he looks over teh map she points out. "Ye two ready ta be off then?" He asks his companions.
(Is the midwife on the way to the dwarfs or are they different directions?)
Otrov signals that she is ready with a backflip and a cartwheel (Acrobatics - 19) into a hearty salute to the dwarf, "Aye, Captain!"
(I believe that the herbalist is about 6 miles south, and the others are 15 miles south).

What travel speed would you chose, fast (30miles per day) medium (24m) or slow (18m)
The whole trip is around 32 miles, if you press on into the night you can do the trip on medium speed if nothing happens.
Dain would go for medium especially since they have a map.
Agreed, medium.
Otrov is fine with medium speed also. In terms of marching order, Otrov will generally like to be up ahead, scouting around for trouble.

As they set out Dain has the map, so he uses orientation to make sure they are on track.
(He will be casting guidance on himself whenever he looks at the map, so will just assume that is up...)
Survival: 11
