The dragon cackles, an awful wave of heat causing your burns to throb with each throaty chuckle. "You had yourchance," the dragon growls, rearing its head back. It snaps forward; its open maw, dripping molten saliva, is your last sight before darkness takes you. Ulfryz the Pyre has started his hoard.

Bite vs. Gruun (Advantage-Restrained): 19Damage: 14
Hox stabs his dagger through the tendril, but though it wriggles in response, it maintains its grip. Gruun's halberd comes down again on the creature's rocky exterior, nearly splitting it in two as it pulls him even closer, gnashing into the bugbear's legs; for the moment, his half-plate armor denies the creature from devouring him.

KILLIAN:
Oddly, all you find among the corpses of the hobgoblins is a set of pipes. No ordinary pipes, they have a wondrous but haunting look about them. They appear to be made from bone, and are each further adorned with a small skull.
OOC: There are two other doors in the room aside from the one you entered: One across the room and another on the left side.
Pocketing the pipes, Killian will return to the hallway to retrieve her now-somewhat-crushed rogue, and with a long look down the unexplored hallway, she will carry him into the room and to the doorway straight ahead.
She will examine it for traps and the like, as best she is able. Perception: 16

Dagger vs. Tendril (Disadvantage-Restrained):17
Bite vs. Gruun (Advantage-Restrained/Reckless):26Damage: 12
Gruun nearly loses the halberd in the process, but one of his frantic swings does land again. The creature's "head" has nearly split in two. Blood pours from the rocky flesh torn near its eye, and it thrashes around, causing Hox to lose leverage, and his dagger fails to stab past the creature's natural armor.
Gruun's armor continues to protect him from being rended by the creature's sharp teeth, but damage is being done.

Tanakir steps forward through the tense air, reaching toward the javelin upon the altar. His hand grasps the magnificent weapon, and...nothing seems to happen. Rycider ducks. Tanakir frees the weapon from the altar.

GRUUN & HOX:
OOC: I'll use the first roll from each, so the critical hit does remain.
Hox continues to stab futilely at the stone-like tendrils, but they loosen immediately when Gruun finally balances enough to slam his halberd directly into the creature's eye, digging through into brain matter. The "stalagmite" convulses and dies, releasing its targets from its grip.
OOC: Gruun and Hox have each received 900 XP for defeating the roper.

The door slams open, revealing a familiar shaped corridor. Many paths forward shift quickly into dead ends, but after wandering for a couple hundred feet you come to a true split. To the left, the corridor branches to another path, which leads to a closed wooden door. Ahead of you, the corridor continues, eventually bending to the left.

When you return from the small altar into the larger room, you find it to be occupied. Standing in the midst of the spirals of black stone upon the floor are four humanoid creatures. Their skin is pale, and their hair falls in tangles past fangs and empty, haunted eyes. Their hands dangle at their sides, sporting razor-sharp claws. They look up as you step into the room, and lunge for your throats.

The creatures fall upon you quicker than you can react, a flurry of claws greeting each of you in the entrance to the room. Most of the blows fall off of Tanakir's armor, but Rycider finds a harder time of it, feeling blood run beneath the places their hands dig in.
OOC: There are two enemies engaged in melee combat with each of you. Both of you are lightly wounded.
Killian sets her burden down in the intersection, and sets to binding her wounds. She will take a short rest, or as much of one as she is able, before continuing.

Hox scrambles out of the tendrils and starts to look about for the worm like creatures. "Not alone, not alone, where its kin?" He says as he pulls his other dagger from the Roper.
Gruun gives the rocky creature another couple stabs to make sure it stays inert. If any of the larva are around they're getting a boot into the ground.
"I hate these 'magical' beasts. They do nothing but destroy and imbalance. Lets get back to the others Hox, we need to keep moving."
Gruun moves to the door they were heading to and opens it.
Taking a staggered step back from the sudden onslaught, Rycider pulls a small strip of iron from somewhere on her bodice. She make a sweeping gesture at the two nearest assailants that ends with a clenched fist.

One of the creatures pauses for a split second when Tanakir's forehead begins to glow, but shakes off the effect and presses forward. The genasi's shield holds one assailant at bay, but he feels the scrape of the other's claws.
Whatever these are, they seem completely unaffected by Rycider's spell. Though one creature seems to linger to stare toward Tanakir, the other grabs Rycider from behind, struggling to sink its fangs into her neck. She is grappled by the creature, but shifts enough to keep its bite away for the moment.
