Gruun nods in appreciation. Using his dagger he'll behead the rapid Kobolds and quickily toss the heads into the fire before they regrow. He will repeat as needed before adding the dead bodies to the blaze.
With the task and battle complete he'll quickly clean his fur in the ocean before regrouping.
With the arrival of afternoon, the air becomes thick and humid, adding to the heat of the growing blaze and causing the scent of burning kobold to linger and thicken. The crazed creatures continue to spawn and mutate as Hox drops some in the fire, and Killian and Gruun take their steel to those tied up. It is long and tiring work.
After some time, the unpleasant business is complete. The beach has been cleared of the strange, mutated creatures, and the once ancient shipwreck lies smoking and smoldering in the sands. The persistent mist that hangs over the center of the island still shelters it from your view.
Sweaty and sooty, Killian wipes her hair from her face. “Someone is responsible for the creation of those creatures. I would like to find them and extract some justice.” As soon as everyone is ready, she will head towards the middle of the island.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
The island slopes upward gently as you make your way to its interior. The rocks and sand that make up the beach give way to softer earth. The mist and fog roll through a lightly forested area; everything seems to be normal at first, but almost all at once, the mist becomes blinding.
So thick is the mist that you are unable to see your nearest companion a few feet away.
Your senses are thrown momentarily into chaos. You sense fiends, celestials, and undead all around you, as if the very air is somehow all of these at once. The rush of evil is overwhelming, and nearly doubles you over.
The mist has grown so blinding that even Hox's perceptive eyes are unable to see the ground. For all you can tell, you are standing alone in a room of white.
Then, almost as quickly as it arrived, you hear a faint jangling of metal and the mist rolls away, still obscuring the area but nowhere near as blinding as it had been a moment ago. Your companions are here with you; all seems as normal as it was before the startling event. Only Killian seems to be visibly disturbed by something.
You find yourselves in the midst of tall trees, planted evenly in rows dozens deep. The towering trunks disappear into the mist above.
The source of the jangling metal reveals itself as you grow closer to the trees. Chains hang from the branches and boughs high above the ground, and grim shapes take form through the mist. A small humanoid hangs from chains along the right side of this row, the size of a human child, its reptilian scales becoming apparent the closer it becomes. It, and the body hanging a short distance away from it on the opposite side of the row, are in an advanced state of decay, the faces unrecognizable. The opposite body is much taller, lean and gangly, with matted and blood-soaked fur covering its goblinoid form.
Gruun nods in appreciation.

“Everyone! To me!” Killian calls out as soon as she realizes she has lost sight of the others. “Follow my voice!”
She continues to call out until everyone has gathered (or it becomes clear that is not happening).

Tanakir moves toward Killian, holding a ball of fire aloft, hoping it will make him more visible.
Killian shouts, but her voice merely echoes around her. Nobody responds.
Tanakir brings a flame to life in the palm of his hand, but it only makes the mist brighter around him. He sees none of his companions around.

Hox looks about and gives a slight shrug. He goes on all fours as he starts to check the forest floor for tracks, either for his companions or others.
Survival: 14
Gritting her teeth, Killian closes her eyes and reaches out with her Divine Sense to see if anything untoward is within 60’.

Well... that was odd. But then what isn't nowadays.
Rycider pops up her parasol, always mindful of the ablution habits of Things in Trees.
"Hox agrees, but is good there is no fire in sky." Hox says.
“ Can’t just have an uneventful trek, can we?” Aradurk states aloud.

Musn't dawdle
Killian will keep her sword sheathed, but she tightens the straps on her shield and follows Rycider.

Hox dumbly looks up at the bodies and gives a shout, "You dead?"
Killian looks at the bodies, then at Hox and Gruun. Then back to the bodies. She mutters to herself darkly and strides past without slowing.
