After the two dwarfs disappeared, back the way the party came, the pair of women continued to lead the party through another fifteen minutes of twists and turns, eventually stopping. The tunnel continued onward, but they stopped when they reached a series of horizontal metal rungs, protruding from the stone wall. The rungs were a ladder leading up through a hole carved in the tunnel ceiling.
As the female goliath grabbed hold and began to climb, the dwarf turned to the group. "A'ight. This is it. Keep your wits about ya and keep your lips shut." The sound of heavy metal dragging across stone, caused the dwarf to look upward where he goliath companion had disappeared. "Rest of ya. Up you go. I'll bring up tha rear."
As the party ascends the ladder, close to nearly void of sound altogether, they find themselves in a small room. The ladder rungs led up a well and through a grate in the room's floor. A sliver of light faintly entered the room through a door on its south wall. The female goliath stood at the door, with it open only wide enough for her head to poke out.
The room itself barely fit the group, even though it was relatively empty. Opened and empty wooden crates were stacked haphazardly in a corner of the room, and were covered in a thin layer of dust. The same dust littered the floor, though a thin almost stream like path of dirt sludge replaced the dust, where it appeared water trickled in at some point through the door, towards the same grate that the party climbed up through.
The room appeared to be a product of renovations over time. The well that the group climbed up from was a hole cut into solid rock, like much of the sewer tunnels below. Two of the walls (east and south), and the door itself, were simply, yet finely crafted white brick and mortar, with a solid sturdy dark wood door.
The floor, the ceiling, and two of walls (north and west) were the solid block design that the party had seen previously in their dungeon diving of ruins that held the horrors that they now associated with the royals and their twisted cohorts. A sign that they were on the right track.
After several moments the goliath pulled her head back in and waved for the rest to follow, as she opened the door wider and stepped out.
Ura trails silently after the woman she thinks is called Baldy, peeking out the door and trying to stay hidden. Her ears prickle and her eyes dart about as she tries to sense for any signs of life or movement besides the party's own, even as she pauses for a moment once through the doors to take in her surroundings.
The door opened into a larger room, approximately 20 by 40 feet, shaped just as had been seen on the Old Man's map. To the left of where the party were passing through, was a hall entrance, in the middle of the north wall, leading eventually to stairs, and doors for other rooms, again just as the map had shown.
The southeast corner of the room was flooded with a shallow pool, a slow drip of water adding to it, from a crack in the corner wall. Logically, this was the source of the evidence of a previous trickle that led to the door and into the room the party just emerged from. Rocks and Rubble littered the room, especially the water.
Aside from the 'water feature' the room held two torches on the north wall, and centered near the south wall was a statue. A statue that the members of the party had seen before, one time, in the ruins beneath the Castle of Aaaaargh. It was a statue of a featureless humanoid kneeling before one of the tentacles abominations, it's tentacles outstretched. This particular one was in much better shape, including an intact tentacles arm ending with its point entering the ear of the kneeling unfortunate soul.
"Fantastic interior decor,"Ura mumbles dryly. She inspects the water closely for any signs of blackness or other unnatural ichor, as well as the material of the statue itself, to see if it's made of ordinary stone. Realizing that she's exactly the wrong person for it, Ura looks around for Nik or Nak, before realizing they disappeared - again. "Damn it! Just when I could actually have used one of those little bastards' expertise," she mutters under her breath, somehow unsurprised.
Sighing, she does her best to carry out the inspection herself.
The wet portion of the room contained no evidence of the black wormy taint that had been seen in the water sources at other locations, at least not at this time. It was cool and dirty, but that seemed to possibly be a product of having been pooled on the already filthy floor underfoot.
Further examination of the statue reveal no unusual characteristics about the dark colored stone itself, or the properties of it. Looking closer however did allow Ura to confirm her familiarity as it possessed symbolic runes etched into it that had been seen on the Castle of Aaaaargh statue as well as on scrolls the party found there. The symbols were explained to the party as eldritch symbols describing of a place called Xoriat.
Uthal looks as though he wants to smash the statue with his hammer but then shoulders it. "To the throne room. Their fall to darkness is confirmed. It is time to do some cleansing."

"Come on, this way." The dwarf whispered toward Ura who had moved closer toward the statue and water to investigate. She waved towards the northbound hallway where the goliath was already moving.
Other than the torches in the statue area, the only other light source was at the far end of the hallway. A torch hung in the corner, opposite a staircase, which although the party didn't have a direct line of sight, could see a glow of light coming from as well.
Between the two ends of the hall was otherwise darkness, assisting the party further in their ease to move in relative stealth. Even Austin's chainmail managed to emit minimal sound as the goliath led on. In the hall itself, there were two closed doors, though through a small gap at the door's bottom, only darkness was seen, likely/possibly indicating a lack of anyone beyond them.
As they neared the staircase, the goliath stopped and put up a hand for the rest to do so as well. There were faint footsteps, coming from somewhere up the stairs. "Two of ya, wit me. We'll cross an hide on that side. Don' know where they goin, but whichever way they go, we'll 'ave three ta take em by surprise."
The dwarf moved quickly across the front of the staircase and around the corner, expecting two members of the party to follow.
Anearis volunteered to follow the dwarf to investigate the footsteps. He made his way to the staircase and around the corner, replicating the dwarfs approach.
Austin followed Anearis with little regard to the split otherwise. No one else had jumped at the opportunity and given that there could be a time constraint she did so as a matter of this being the the path of least resistance.
The female goliath pressed herself against the wall beside the break that led to the ascending stairs, using what shadows she could to hide her large frame, while Aneris, Austin, and the female dwarf were able to conceal themselves behind the corner of the turn on the otherside, though the dwarf regularly poked her head out slightly even so often over the next few moments that followed.
Before long, the distant footsteps grew loaded as they descended the stairs toward the level where the party now hid.

Ura shimmies up the ladder, keeping an eye out for places to hide.
Austin grimaces, but starts to climb up the ladder.
Before climbing the ring ladder, Anearis summons his power to help the party move silently.
Cast pass without trace on the party.
Ura takes advantage to try to hide wherever she can find that seems appropriate, and pad her steps:
Stealth: 36
Austin also tries to move quietly, if possible. Stealth is rolled in the game log, with disadvantage. Result is an 11, plus 10, so a total of 21.
Uthal tries to be as quiet as he can, but he's 9 feet tall and in heavy armor.
Stealth: 4

Anearis braced himself for whatever would be coming down the stairs. It was time to see if those gloves the Right Hand’s men gave him actually worked.
