Kel accepted the satchel with just a nod. He ate with a ravenous pace even as they began to move from the Spire. Clapping his hands free of crumbs once he stood outside, the tiefling stowed the satchel. A minor victory but any was better than none at this point. "Da ky wfry za pyyz fw waal. Dal'z silz za mijy za tirrh haf iqiul." He stated to the Arbitrator with a slight grin at the corner of his mouth. Kel will draw his greatsword, roll his head to crack the gristle and proceed along the western road to take the main road north towards the barracks.

„I‘ll be close. And hopefully not visible, in case there‘s trouble that needs dealing with,“ Ura tells the others, as she breaks off from the main group to follow to the barracks from the shadows.
Ura successfully hides in the shadows, without much effort. The night sky is still dark, either naturally or from remnants of the pitch black fog. Concealment is not difficult to come by, for the shadow dwelling rogue.
After traveling west from the spire, along the main road, the party makes it to the north running street in no time, and with little difficulty. The only obstacle being the unknown of the dark city streets, leading to the occasional precautionary stop.
Following the road, the party comes to a planned three-way fork in the road. The left street would take the party to the western gate, and the most direct line to the barracks. However, before taking that path, a woman’s scream rings out, from somewhere north of the party, in the direction of the middle path. While although dark, the middle path is a clear narrow street, ending at a T intersection, which could still provide a round about way to the barracks, at least that how it had appeared on the map.
Ura will scout ahead of the others from the shadows, still keeping the party in her visual range, as she tries to pinpoint the source of the woman's scream. Bat or hand... bat or hand... or something else, she thinks to herself as she tries to keep an eye out for danger.
Moving towards the narrow alley, in the direction from where the woman’s scream came from, Ura would have to leave the street itself in order to fully gage the entire length. A smell of death and rot lingers in the air, and a trail of a dark liquid runs along the ground of the alley. However, Ura sees nothing of any substantial size, along the narrow space, only the occasional piece of trash.
Whatever or whoever made the sound was likely beyond the end of the alley, where it’s intersected by another perpendicular running narrow path between the buildings.
Aside for the party itself, there is no noise. The air is silent.

Anearis follows closely behind Ura. He might not be one with the shadows as the other elf was, but he is light on his feet. Whatever the reason for this women's distress was, he had promised D'armes, he would help however he could, and that is what he would do. Moving along the narrow alley, he tried to listen for any more noise coming from beyond the T intersection.
While Anearis may not be ‘one with the shadows’ like Ura, it almost came natural for him as he slunk into the dark, hiding himself from even the most watchful of eyes, even showing up the rogue.
Advancing further into the alley, than the rest of his party, Anearis knew, without a doubt, that whoever had made that scream was either no longer in the area, or no longer living. The same went for whatever may have been the cause of the woman’s fright to begin with. There was no movement ahead, however, the thick blood-like trail that ran through the alley, continued all the way to the end, and disappearing around the corner and leading west. (The opposite direction of the barracks)
Kel let the lighter members of the party move forward without a word after the scream rang in their ears. Uthal and Anders had the same idea as he did it seemed, hanging back.
"A minute. If we hear nothing from them we go in after." He stated, words sounding loud in the otherwise empty air of the night.
Ura, finding nothing in the alley, confers with Anaeris about what he saw, and returns to the rest of the group who was holding back.
"Whatever likely killed the woman here broke off in the opposite direction of the barracks. Looks like we'll have to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea,"she tells the others. "Help the lone woman, or help the barracks. I hate to say this, but I'm leaning towards the barracks. Helping a lone victim is like a slapping a bandage on papercut while ignoring the gushing wound in your gut. If this city is under attack, without the barracks, every civilian here will be like that lone victim soon enough."
Kel nodded at the assessment given. "We were tasked with getting a report from the barracks, there is nothing wrong with sticking to that task in face of a snipe hunt." he shrugged. "Let lounging lickers lie." He suspected that particular phrase might not exactly translate, but they would get the gist of it.
"We were also tasked with finding the hand if we could. What if this is its doing? Are we going to let it get away?" Anearis tried to convince his comrades that this mission was just as important.
"If going to the barracks is what you feel is right, I will not stop you. I can catch up with you quickly should I find nothing."
Uthal looks down at the elf. "Splitting up seems unwise. And we should not allow ourselves to be drawn away from our goals. Plus anyone who can be knocked out and killed by a hand might not be worth saving."

As the party debates the priorities of reaching the barracks versus seeking out more immediate potential threats, another scream pierces the night silence. The scream is likely that of a child, coming from the northeast, but further away than the initial woman's yell. Unfortunately, the exact distance of the scream's origin is unknown.
"Another innocent in trouble. And there is bound to be more." Anearis doesn’t wait for his companions response before running towards the source of the scream. What good would reporting to the barracks do if they people of the town were already in danger?
