Bolting from the group, down the westward alley, Anearis exits it, and finds himself at the entrance to a courtyard ((Top right corner of the city street map / bottom left corner of courtyard map on discord)).
The courtyard was likely used as a marketplace, judging by the empty wooden stalls erected around it. The blood-like trail that had been running along the alleyway ended only a few feet past where Anearis stood, leading to a smashed pile of wood that had been one of these stalls at some point.
There were some street lamps burning at the far end of the court yard, but there was no sign of anyone.
"By the goddesses light." Uthal shakes his head and lumbers after the elf. "You know if we get the guards we can have them doing things like this rather than us? More people helping means more people helped."

Gronk in Bastion, Kingdom of Medrin Elixisysin Talaveroth (Team 2) Uthal in Lost Continent of Theviranne
Kel watched as the elf Anearis bolted from the group towards the sounds of the screams, Uthal quickly to follow. Kel didn't. To him it was a clear objective to reach the barracks and deal with the fallout upon arrival. In his mind, he didn't dither when it came to hunting things in the dark in a place he did not know well. He blinked slowly to center himself.
"I'm pushing on to the barracks." He stated flatly to the others and continued down the main road towards the western gate and the barracks.
"Take care of that headstrong fool, will ya?" Ura says to Uthal. "I'm going to try to speed up the process with the guards here,"she adds, turning towards the barracks. "Hey, pick up the pace,"she says to Kel as she sprints past him, forgoing hiding in the shadows for speed. Hmm, the sooner we can check out the barracks, the sooner we can rejoin the others. Maybe with some backup.

Following the blood trail to the courtyard, Anearis walked up to the broken crate and tried to look for clues. What caused it to break? Does the trail of blood continue at somewhere else?
The party separates. Kel, Ura, and Ander continue onward towards their initial goal, in hopes that linking up with the city guard could lead to an overall push for saving the city. Anearis, followed by Uthal, likely because the goliath doesnt want his friend to get himself killed, move towards the empty market place, in search of saving the lone soul's that they heard crying out in the night, only moments before.
Investigating the trails end, and the smashed pile of wood, you see beneath it, the body of an elderly gnome, his gray hair and brown suit stained in what is likely his own blood. His head appears to have been bashed in, as does what's left of the smashed wooden stall around him. You can see no other signs of blood.
The three party members that ran for the barracks, turn the corner, to see the western wall of the building, where the main entrance is located. However, the entrance is blocked. The doors are shut, and a large wooden barricade had been constructed to further fortify it. Several rotting corpses lay lifeless against the barricade and on the ground around it.
Kel took in the building before him, narrowing his eyes at the scene. He assessed it was worth the risk. "Keep an eye on the corpses, mind our flanks. I will see if there is anyone to answer..." Kel made a gesture and ended it by tapping his neck. His next words boomed out into the night thanks to his Thaumaturgy. "Northern Barracks! I am Kel Iscariuss, Hellheart of the Order of the Wall. We have be directed here by the Arbitrator to assess a report. Any survivors of the Watch here?" He waited for a response, dismissing the effect of his booming voice. "Either we get an answer or everything knows we are here now..." He stated to the others, gripping his sword tightly.

As Kel is speaking, Ura takes another moment to try to hide herself again, this time close to the barricade.
Stealth: 25
Holed up in there like that… are they leaving the rest of the city out to dry, or did something get in there with them? Not trusting that anyone will answer Kel properly, she begins to search for the best way through or around the barricade and inside the building, as well as taking a closer look at any of the fallen corpses as she passes by them. (To check if they're really zombies who've been killed by the guards, and not turned guards or civilians or whatnot.)
A small voice responded to Kel. It was low in both volume and tone. “Go away! You’re going to draw more here.” The voice most definitely came from beyond the barricade, but there was no visual sign to indicate its source. Whoever spoke had no intention of allowing themself to be seen.
The barracks was a three story building with a large street-level entrance on the western wall. A second entrance could barely be seen on the third floor. It was a way inside, though it was only accessible from a stone bridge that hung over the street and connected the building to a strong city wall.
There were windows on the second and third floors, on the west and south walls, visible as the building that butted against the barracks south wall was only a single story red brick building.
There were five corpses in all, outside the barricaded entrance. Everyone one of them looked as though they had been freshly dug up, all rotting and filthy. Based on what the party had witnessed tonight, it was highly likely that all of the corpses had been of the same making, as those they felled earlier that night.

Anearis rises to his feet after inspecting the corpse. WIthout even looking towards Uthal, he says ‘’I need your assistance to figure out what happened here. Help me look for clues. The sooner we discover the truth, the sooner we can rejoin the others.’’
With that said, Anearis begins looking around the courtyard for clues that could tell him what happened here (signs of struggle, discarded weapon, footprints,...).
With the keen eye of a detective, Anearis surveyed the marketplace courtyard. Judging by the blood upon the gnome, and spilled out around him, Anearis is able to deduce that the trail that led through the alley and to this stall, was indeed, the gnome’s blood. The final killing stroke that finished the elderly man may have occurred here, as the murderer smashed the stall in around him, but the attack began elsewhere, and the gnome simply fled here, looking to find protection.
The stall, like the gnome, had no signs of clean cuts, or any obvious signs to indicate what instrument may have caused the damage, other than it was blunt force.
Every other stall in the place seemed to be untouched from the struggle. There was, however, a boot print in the blood, that smeared it eastward. It was definitely too big to belong to the gnome. As far as the assailant’s identity, Anearis could identify no further signs as to who or what may have destroyed the gnome or the stall.
While investigating, Uthal and Anearis both heard another scream. It was identical to the woman they first heard, when stopping at the intersection, which led to the initial deviation from the course to the barracks. The scream was closer than before, but somewhere outside the courtyard. It came from the East.
Anearis was startled by the new scream. Immediately, he began heading eastward to the origin of this new scream, which incidently was the same way the bloody footprint was heading.
"This one sounded closer. Come! We might still have a chance to make it", he said to Uthal.
Leaving the courtyard through the eastern alley way, Uthal and Anearis are unimpeded in their travels. The eastern alleyway ran straight through to what looked like another large clearing, perhaps another courtyard. It was only about 40 feet long, so the two party members could see the other side, as soon as they entered.
However, at about 15 feet in, another alley split heading north. While where it led wasn’t visible from this angle, what was visible was a figure laying on the ground, just at the northern split entrance. It was small, perhaps another gnome, or possibly even a child. Whatever it was, it was not moving.
Ura silently agrees with Ander as she gauges the window on the western wall. Returning to the others, she murmurs her finds about the entrances. "I have no idea why they're holed up in there like mice when there's only five corpses out here. Which, by the way, look like they've been freshly tossed out of a grave to be re-animated. There's another entrance on the third floor, but it looks like the way in from there is through the city wall." Ura points out the bridge to the others. "Or we could try climbing over the barricade and in through one of the second-floor windows,"she adds, pointing them out as well. "Climbing's not my strong suit, though. If the chump inside won't come out and do his job, I say we bust in through the wall and find out why."
Seeing the body lying on the ground, Anearis runs over to it with the hope that it still lives. He crouches down and tries to pick the body up off the ground. He looks around trying to see where the assailant might have gone.
