Uthal examines their surroundings, speaking but not turning to look at Anearis. "Try not to die this early on in our adventure, means we have to find annoying new friends. And next time maybe we can wait until we all are around before rushing off after noises." He walks by the elf and simply taps him on the shoulder, granting him a Vigilant Blessing.

"Oh, r'dill dha lusneraidaiar,"Ura hisses, shushing Anaeris to silence. "Just keep yourself alive next time and we'll call it even,"she mutters. "And both of you, hang back until I check and make sure this place is clean. We have to find a way into the barracks without making much noise, or the zombies attacking the front barracks doors are going to come swarming towards us. Be silent, for Tymora's sake!" She hid in the shadows, and then crept toward the people-like objects draped in sheets, just to make sure they were really only something like training dummies, and not yet another round of surprise undead for the group to battle through.

The fatigue may have been getting to her, or perhaps in her long past, Ura had known many individuals who basically stood perfectly still, unwavering and silent, just as their normal stance. Either way, it was not until she reached the humanoid shapes that she whipped off one of the sheets, that Ura was able to come to a conclusion, as to whether they were alive.
The removal of the sheet answered all though, they were in fact just Training dummies. A wooden base and frame with cheap leather armor, and a straw head with a comically painted face stared Ura in the eyes. The other covered lumps were identical, so unless an individual had a good amount of practice ((and a decent stealth roll)), there was no reason not to assume the rest were the same as this one.
The door beyond them was large, not necessarily in height, but in width. It was approximately four feet wide, and rested on a sliding wheeled track. A simple latch kept it closed. And while although, higher than Ura’s horizontal line of sight, a small row of windows, now visible next to the door frame, showed the night sky just beyond the wall.
Even the simplest individual would be able to identify this door would lead to the courtyard behind the barracks.
"Guys,"Ura hisses, waving her hand to motion them over. "I think it's clear. The courtyard might have a way into the barracks. Remember though… try not to make any noise! Those zombies are breeding like rabbits outside these walls,"she says, gingerly lifting the latch and trying to open the doors with as little noise as possible.
Kel nodded. The poor boy seemed to be at his wits end, not that he could really blame him in the situation. He motioned his head toward the door, for both Anders and the boys sake. "Come along then, many hands make light work." Kel moved to the door the boy pointed at, eager to see what awaited them in the courtyard.
As quiet as Ura was with her movements, the tracked wheels of the door had other ideas. It was only for a split second at the start, but as Ura pushed the door aside, the sound of nails against a chalk board screeched out. However, the only living thing the sound seemed to alert was a pair of rabbits that bolted across the training yard, as the door opened. They had likely been minding their own business and engaging in what rabbits do best, when the party interrupted.
The courtyard, or training yard for that matter seemed to be for the sole purpose of serving the barracks guard. The only other door, leaving the yard itself was just to the west of the party’s position, leading into the barracks itself. Unlike the rest of the city, this yard’s ground was not the same general use Stone, but instead was dirt with a thin layer of straw. Wooden fencing and ropes cordoned off certain sections from each other, forming makeshift small arenas, and long thin range lanes. Some of the same practice dummies were set up and a series of large crudely crafted targets stood at the end of the lanes.
Other than those initial rabbits bolting, nothing further moved in the training yard.
Kel:
Through the door, you find another room. Slightly smaller, but roomier due to the lack of a giant desk in the center. There was no lighting in the room, but what spilled through the open doorway was enough to make it out. The walls were lined with thin tall shelving unit. Much in the design of a wardrobe, allowing hooks and room for hanging, but otherwise partitioned off to accommodate the use by many. Several wide benches ran along the shelving, and certain portions of the floor were metal grates, rather than the wooden boards.
At the other end, directly across, was another door. It was a sturdier looking wood, and a metal bar stretched across, resting in hooks on the door frame, providing extra security support, should the door’s strength need to be tested.
While Kel moves to this room, the boy was steadfast, remaining behind the desk. “I haven’t opened the door to the training yard. I don’t know what lies beyond.”

Uthal takes a longer look around the room now that there's no danger. He tries to find anything that may help them in their current fight seeing as this is a place for military types.

Ura takes a moment to stare enviously after the carefree bunnies before refocusing on the courtyard. She takes a good long look at the walls and the sky, searching for any sign of the banshee or the bat-creature. "Gods do I hate things that can fly,"she mutters under her breath, before sticking her head back into the storage room. "I'm going to try to open the door on the other side,"she tells the others. Seeing Uthal searching, she tells him, "Pick me up some arrows or daggers if you find 'em!"
She then attempts to hide in the shadows of the courtyard and cross swiftly over to the other door, where she will inspect it to see how easily (or not) it can be opened from the outside.
Stealth: 9 Ready Action: Open the door to the barracks if it's possible
Most of the stacks beneath the sheets, that Uthal checks, are crates secured with nail and rope. Actually looking through them would require the use of a crowbar, or at least a successful feat of his strength. Aside from the crates, he finds more training equipment; dummies, range targets, planks of wood, lengths of rope, arrows without tips, and some shields, swords and armor. The shields and swords made of wood, and armor made of a very thin leather. Unless your enemy was wielding wooden weapons themselves, or a small child, or both, the armaments would be of no combative use.
When Ura gazed up to the night sky, for the first time since the sun set, stars were actually visible. Possibly a good omen, as the sky was otherwise void of any creatures or threat. The barracks door had a simple iron pull ring on the outside, but when Ura tried it, to door appeared to be locked from the inside.
Although she's not expecting any response, Ura tries a series of rapid knocks on the outside of the door, just in case anyone inside is listening.
It seems like random tapping, but anyone in the know would recognize the Thieves' Cant for what it was.
Hey! You limey bastards, unlock this door and open up! The undead bastards invading this town are shredding us out here! Let us in, before we turn into undead bastards ourselves and end up shredding you lot inside!
The boy let out a yelp, and ducked behind the desk, as if doing so offered some sort of protection. Only a few moments after Kel had opened a door that led to the final room before the barrack’s training yard, there was a knock at that very door.
Kel scoffed at the boy. "Tis some nightly visitor rapping on the barracks door. Only this and nothing more." Presently his weapon grip grew stronger, he hesitated then no longer, here opening both lock and door. Expecting to see some nightly visitor from far beyond the plutonian shore. (only Ura and nothing more)
Kel narrowed his eyes after opening the door just a crack. "Only you?" He asked flatly before letting the door swing open a bit wider.
"Nevermore…. am I chasing after that dumbass who punched me in the face," Ura grumbled as she pushed past Kel into the barracks. "Ran into a little banshee problem." She stopped short in front of the boy trembling behind the desk. "Huh? Who's this kid now? He needs a few pointers on how to hide properly."
The boy straightened as the others entered the inner room of the barracks. Attempting to regain his composure, as though he had any to begin with, he re-positioned himself at the desk. "I assume these are the companions you mentioned. Well I believe our first problem is solved. Now that the Arbitrator has sent you here to save us, you can get to it."
Uthal looks down at the small figure in front of him. "I think you might have some disinformation little one. We were coming to see what happened to your people. Your people are not here. Unless you have a great number of weapons for some healing magic hidden on you somewhere you may want to wait a bit for your saviors."

Worry washed over the boys face, and he stuttered a response to Uthal, “But,but..but...you’re friend said you were sent by the Arbitrator.” He pointed at Kel. “Why else would you have been sent if not to find the lost patrols?!? Every man that had been sent to the priory, this night, has failed to return!” The boy quickly looked around the room, switching his direction towards each of you, in such a jerky motion that he could almost seem to be in danger of breaking his neck. He desperately looked for a face sympathetic to his words. “If you were not sent to assist, then why?”
"... lost patrols?" Ura slaps her forehead while groaning. "Are you telling me we're gonna have to go hunting for some lost patrols now, too?" She looks up sharply at the loud thump. While eyeing the ceiling suspiciously, she says "Anybody up there, or do we have uninvited guests coming down?" Without waiting for the answer, she's already getting into the shadows again. Traveling all day, killing a goblin family, running into a zombie horde and a flying vampire bat, then facing down a self-moving hand, only to retreat towards a second zombie horde and a banshee, all before her Trance Time has put her ever-so-slightly on edge.
The boy’s eyes shift upward to the sound, but return to the party in the room, without any additional expression of concern. “No, that’s just the Sergeant. The only other member of the city guard here with me. He’s on bed rest while he recovers.” Without a second thought to the sound, the boy returns to his earlier pleas. “I fear the worst for the patrols. There’s no way they could be simply lost, the priory’s just right here.” He pointed to a spot on the map, on the desk. The building he pointed to was only about 200 feet, if that, just west/southwest of the barracks, on the outside of the city wall.
Kel gave an inquisitive look at Ura, then stifled a little chuckle at Uthal's response upon entering. Kel closed the door behind the group as they all clambered in. As they exchanged words with the boy Kel furrowed his brow at something the boy said. ...No one had returned from the Priory... He was about to speak when the thump occured. He glanced upwards and sighed, answering Ura's question. "The boy said the Sergeant is recovering. Likely from an undead attack, which means likely..." He didn't finish the sentence, trusting they could recall what happened to the Arbitrator. He glanced back over to the boy. "Let us go see about your Sergeant, then we will decide what to do from there. With any luck the Arbitrator will bring reinforcements from the Southern Barracks." He left it at that. The other side of the coin was if the Arbitrator didn't show, then it was something they couldn't handle and that meant abandoning the city altogether at worst. ...so much for that gold piece... He chided himself, but smirked nonetheless. He motioned for the boy to lead the way with his offhand, sword arm gripping his greatsword.
