From the open staircase, leading down to the ground level, Kel could here the clerk yelling, but it was not loud enough to make out the exact words.
Barracks Third Floor:
Inside the kitchen, Ura finds a feast of food, at least size-wise for herself, though it all seemed to have been out for sometime, a few hours at least. A large pot of stew on an unlit coal stove, was cold to the touch. Five loaves of bread were in a basket on the table next to it, and one and a half pies, containing an unidentifiable fruit filling. Within the icebox was a slab of dried salted beef, weighing at least three or four pounds, and a wheel of cheese. Additionally, between the kitchen and dining room, Ura found 3 bottles of a red wine. Additionally, tucked beaneath one of the kitchen counters, Ura found a steel flask, wrapped in an animal hide of some sort. Whatever it was, one thing was for sure, it smelled terrible. It even overpowered the smell of whatever liquid was within the flask itself.
Walls in both the dining room and the entryway near the city wall door, had high windows that overlooked the city. Each window was about two feet tall and a foot wide, but they stood nearly touching the ceiling, making them inconvenient, to say the least, for someone of Ura’s stature.
Within one of the desks, near the city wall door, there was a leather bound book with the words “Watch Log” written on the front. Aside from two additional locked doors, on this level, Ura could find indication of a tower or any further unexplored areas of the barracks.
Additionally, she felt certain, that no one more, living or dead, was likely inside the barracks.
Anearis noticed when the clerk pulled out his dagger. Uthal had been quicker to react and managed to immobilize him. Not wanting to hurt an innocent, Anearis simply tried to take the weapon away from the young boy.

Kel had opened his prayer book, looking for a particular series of words to say over the Watchman, when of the sudden he heard an ungodly row below. "Mm." He closed his book and stowed it before standing from the bed. He stood there a moment longer pondering, curious that the boy who wished them to be quiet would continue to make outbursts that could wake the dead. Kel shook his head from his use of the turn of phrase. His hand reached back to clasp his greatsword from its resting place and moved to the top of the stairs, if only to try and gather any other motive to the noise.

Ura samples the pie, and shares some with Dilthen, giving him a pat on the head. She grabs all of the loaves of bread, intending to share it with the others, as well as the salted beef, which she figures will probably keep for long enough to take on the road to eat with the bread. The wheel of cheese she only samples for Dilthen - never was a fan, she thinks to herself. The bottles of wine, however, go right in the pack, along with Ura's widening smile. The flask, Ura is about to leave behind... her eyes water just from opening the cabinet, and there's no way she's putting that anywhere near her belongings. She stops, however, thinking of Uthal's missing hide armor, and cautiously grabs it, wrapping it in some spare cloth and keeping it on her belt, to gift to the large goliath later in case he's feeling nostalgic.
Ura clicks her tongue in annoyance when she notices the height of the windows, but her eye is quickly caught by the watch log, which she opens up and flips through, trying to trace what events might have happened in the city leading to the chaos of the night. The Berossus kids were surely bad news, but even they couldn't act this quickly on their own... there has to be evidence in here somewhere about what's been brewing under the guard's noses, she thinks as she pages thorugh the book.

Barracks First Floor: Clerk: 7(Against Anearis) Clerk: 7(Against Ander)
Able to resist Anearis's attempts to disarm him, the clerk is unable to hold on, as Ander pries the dagger from his hand. Falling from Uthal's arms, as he backhands him, he yells again. "I am a representative of the North Midgar Guard! You are all culpable of crimes against the city of Midgar, and the nation of Cathaan." The boy turns to run for the door again.
Barracks Second Floor: After the initial raised voice that Kel thought he heard, nothing further is heard from the floor below. Kel is left in the silence of the second floor, with his thoughts and the unconscious Sergeant York.
Barracks Third Floor: As on not a fan of cheese, the wheel in the kitchen would not have been of any liking to Ura. And the thought of Uthal's former rotten-beast smelling armor was dead on, when smelling the odor of the thin pelt, wrapped around the flask. The smell itself was a dead ringer, and likely an identical source, creature, or strange process that the hide went through. Either way, the stench was unmistakably the same.
While investigating the third floor, Ura is completely unaware of the occurrences going on, on the floors below.
Combing through the watch log, only the first ten pages or so were filled. From a quick scan, Ura could not find anything that mentioned the priory, or the royals until two days prior, when they first arrived. The passages of interest that Ura manages to find are:
(Yesterday)
Tenth Hour- Private Parhtz and Corporal Puneshmant return. Royal Entourage relieved escort, and would send word prior to departing city.
Twentieth Hour- West Bells Chime. Patrols sent throughout city. Private Parrckeng and Sergeant Sargent sent to priory.
Twentieth Hour- Priory Patrol has not returned.
(Today)
First Hour- Captain Morgan led taking all available to investigate priory, ensure Royal safety. (Last Entry)

Noting the details but leaving the log, Ura frowns. "This isn't good… it means this crapfest has been going down since yesterday evening, ugh."
Ura considers dragging over a chair or table to look out of a window, but quickly discards the idea in favor of inspecting the locked doors - it's a slim chance, but there might be a way further up hidden behind one of them. She takes the first locked door she comes across and pulls out her picks, trying to spring open the door.
Seeing the boy make a run for the door, Anearis will use his superior speed to interpose himself between the clerk and the exit. He attempts to make himself look non-threatening, trying to calm the agitated guard.
’’There is no need for this. We are not your enemy. But what my giant companion is saying is true. The Berossus are meddling with dark powers right under the nose of their people. It is hard to believe for you, I admit. But their presence here in Shinra and the events of tonight are no coincidence.’’
Uthal walks up and cuts off the boys other escape, his arms spread wide. "Listen to him boy. If we were truely a danger too you and your people we would have hurt you when we got here. We're here to help, just like the Arbitrator told us to. If you don't trust my face at least trust the office I represent." He pulls the medallion of Sune from his pocket and shows it too the boy.

The clerk manages to run from the room, as Ander fails to sweep the boy’s feet out from beneath him. The boy may be clumsy and weak, but he was wily, and managed to escape the little room with Ander, Anearis, and Uthal. Second later, the three of you hear a heavy door slamming, somewhere else in the barracks.
The pleas and voice of reason coming from the three adventures fell on deaf ears. Even if the clerk was listening, he was likely in no mind to believe anything the three had to say.
Barracks Second Floor:
Peering down the stairwell, attempting to glean anything further of the situation regarding the yelling Kel heard not much earlier, he saw a shadow rush past the stairwell, and then heard the slam of a door, only a few seconds later.
Barracks Third Floor:
The lock took almost no effort for Ura to pick. And the door to the west room (of the two locked) welcomingly swings open for her. If finding a towel earlier was a gift for her, this room was a jackpot beyond her wildest dreams. Within the room were wooden chairs, benches, shelving units and bed frames all stacked around. But more importantly was several stacks of sheets, blankets, pillows, but most importantly...towels.
And then as a secondary thought, the room also contained two windows, one of which was blocked by stacked tables, but the other completely unobstructed, AND at the perfect height for Ura.
Uthal follows in the direction the clerk ran. The door led to a hallway, with a staircase leading to the second floor, as well as three doors. Two doors were to the west, past the staircase, and while the boy may have eventually left their line of sight, they could confirm that he did not enter the third door, on the east wall of the hallway ((Refer to discord map Northern Barracks Floor 1))

Uthal does not notice any traps on the door, however both he and Anearis both fail to open the doors, as both are in fact locked.
Barracks Third Floor:
Ura peers out the window, having to press her face against the glass in order to achieve the view she desired. She didn’t have a full view of the street, nor could she see the western side of the building, however, the view from this window on the south wall of the Barracks did at least show the general area where the undead was initially swarming, when they reached the barracks. There was no movement in the streets.
Ura could however see over the city wall from this vantage point, not completely, but enough. In the general direction of the priory she saw the black fog from earlier. The fog itself appeared to be rolling in from west of the city, but it was strangely concentrated on that specific area just beyond the wall.
Having basically spotted the information she was looking for, Ura will go back downstairs to find Kel, armed with this new information.
On reaching the second floor, she says to him: "Well, lots of things up there. Like food, if you need any. Not a fan of the smelly cheese myself, but there's fruit pie if you're interested. It looks a lot like everyone dropped what they were doing and ran in the middle of suppertime." She throws herself into a seat next to Sergeant York and pulls out the flask of really heavily scented whatever-it-was, placing it on the bedstead next to York's head, in part to see if the pungent oder wafting from the flask can act like smelling salts for the sleeping man.
"Most interesting was the watch log," she continues as she sits back once again. "If I got my timeline correct, those troublemaking Berossus siblings - Zelda's the name of the ***** who tried to experiment on us in Cathaan, by the way, and I hear her brother's name is Anton - entered town around the tenth hour yesterday and retired to the Priory after getting rid of their city escorts. Officially, they still haven't departed, although I'm guessing they cut and run to their next destination already, after stirring up the mess over here.
It only took them ten hours to cause the ruckus we and the Arbitrator got mixed up in outside of his tower. Around the same time the barracks sent the first patrol to the priory, which never returned. Then this morning the rest of the barracks went to the priory during the first hour to check on said Royals, and never came back."
She pauses, pulling out a bit of the fruit pie she'd scored for herself and munching on it, being sure to hand off a few more crumbs to her pet mouse.
"I think the royals are pretty successfully trying to disable the guards in the city here, so they can't be followed when they cut and run. The faster they move, the more they can outpace the word about their evildoing. And hey, if they raze the city to the ground after they leave, there's no one left to chase them, and the supply chain for the guards of Cathaan is completely broken, too. Smart. And bad news for us."
Clapping her hands together, she brushes off the rest of the crumbs from her lips. "Lastly, the zombies in front of the door are gone. I think they're attracted to sound, so as long as we can be at least a little bit quiet, we might be able to sneak right out the front door without being molested. And we'll need to. That black fog that caused the trouble? It's to the west now, sitting most densely over what my best guess would be the priory. If we want to find the guard contingent that was here, that's where we need to go. But someone definitely is going to need to tell the Arbitrator beforehand. If the entire barracks got sent there and didn't come back, I'm not fancying our chances going at it alone without leaving word."
Finished with her long-winded explanation, she looks again to Sergeant York. "If he wakes up, he could be of help... at least in passing messages along if more guards show up, or letting us know how many guards were originally stationed her in total. That clerk kid seems a little too punchy to make clear decisions, plus I think he's a greenhorn, too. His log book was only 10 pages long." She looks around the room. "The others are ok without us, right? It's only been, what, fifteen minutes? They can't have possibly gotten into trouble already."
