Ithelion pauses in her cursing, staring back the way they came, then smiles. It's just an owl, she thinks. An annoying, judgemental and stupid owl; but just an owl.
She turns to Daemyar, her expression serious, and nods, "You are right. The responsibility is mine."
With that apparently settled to her satisfaction, she takes a deep breath and glances around the room, "So...let's look at these tracks shall we? Do you recognise these? They seem quite well delineated here...and here..." she points out what she found to Daemyar.
(( She is providing help to Daemyar, assuming one such as he knows something about tracking... ))
Daemyar, take 1 poison damage and you're poisoned for 1 minute. After the poison has worn off, you note humanoid tracks as well as rat tracks - of varying sizes from the small to much bigger - around the traps and in the dust elsewhere. While you can see them fine, maybe the poison has clouded your ability to interpret them properly - you can't tell much about them other than there are humanoid tracks and rat tracks.

Garnet CON save - 5
Like most of you, The genasi shrugs off most of the ill effects of the eldritch poison (take 1 point of damage). As before, the closer you get to the door, the more powerful the smell of rot, offal, and decay becomes. To get to the door, you have a narrow 2-foot walkway on either side of the exposed pit. How does the party wish to proceed?
"Are we not looking for several -- likely dead -- citizens of Oakhurst? And a way down? If we turn away at every door that smells of death we will have a very short journey...."
Krom chuckles, "We'll have a short journey either way if we keep blunderin' into fights. We might find somethin' that fights back a little harder than giant rats if we ain't careful."

"Let us then blunder no more, and consider, briefly, a plan. The door looks to open outwards, and if held, will block the path, giving them only one natural place to go.. "
As you converse what you want to do, you hear a few squawks and growls from behind the door. Then, you hear something hit the door - something fleshy. More squawks and another thump on the door. The door holds steady but a little bit of dust comes off it each time. Whatever is in the room knows you're there. You then hear a deep, guttural growl and an even bigger hit against the door. Another long deep growl and then silence....

The last thud against the door startles Ithelion, and she glances around at her companions. "Anyone recognise it? Doesn't sound like rats..." she asks.
It is only then that she takes in the stance of her companions. The dwarf is more at home in a tavern , but even the feral child looks ready to bolt. She glances back at the door. Perhaps this question can wait.
"Should we...leave then....?" she asks, backing away from the fountain, and keeping any eye on the door.
Ithelion curses, "Stupid damned creature. Maybe next time she'll do what I say. Half a mind to bring her back as a rat."
She puts the vial back in her pack, shaking her head, "No more owl until we get back to town."

Krom and Lorell, you both shake off the poison with relative ease. You take one point of damage and are poisoned for a minute.

Ithelion considers the pit, the trap, the undead and the probable rats behind the door...
"Perhaps we could re-enable the trap? And open the door using magic...Krom did that before, and I might be able to..."
Krom shrugs, "I can if ye are eager to want to be fightin' more rats. This door has a fowl odor behind it, so I say we just leave it be."
