In regards to Daeymar not being able to open the door Garnet mentions out loud " We did tell Meepo to gaurd the door." Turning to Ithelion, because she speaks draconic, Garnet waves her toward the door.
The yips cease and there is silence. With Ithelion’s password, you hear another few yips and the sound of chains being unlocked and the wooden bar being lifted. The door opens and you are greeted by several armed kobolds. Meepo pushes his way to the front and greets you. “Wow, that quick. Welcome back! Come, come, come - wait - where Dragon?”
The kobold guards close the door and lock it back up and disperse back to their posts and rooms. Meepo comments on the smell emanating from you. “Eww you smells like goblin food!”
Ithelion looks taken aback, and examines her clothes for grime that she has failed to remove. Finding nothing, she remembers Meepo.
"We did not get far, but found one of those we were seeking." she points at their gruesome find, draped over Daemyar's back. That's probably the smell, she thinks, relieved. Gods! I didn't even notice it.
"There was a large rat. Both it, and its children are no more, but we are weary and must show the proper respect to our dead..."
"Also, we found these -- would you have any use for them?" she adds, offering him a shield and sling that she previously cleaned.
Meepo takes the offerings reverently, “Meepo thanks you magic wizard!” He looks a bit down at the mention of not finding Calcryx. “Oh well soon you find.” When you talk about the rat, he seems shocked. “Smelly goblins talk about big big rat. We think they tricking us. We never go that way do we don’t know. Sounds didsgussin-dickscusting-dinksgazzing - well, maybe you know word i mean.” He laughs at Daemyar, “you bit strange, funny word - bait? You call each other bait? Live on surface you so intressin- inte- never mind. Hahaha!” He tries on the shield and practices a few spear thrusts. Then the straps the shield onto a harness on his back and tries with his special whip. “Hmm, it feel good!”He hooks his whip b as close onto his belt. What you need, Meepo maybe get? Where you go?”
“A whip. Like the one you have. And a heavy crossbow.“ Daemyar holds nothing back from his request. “I’m afraid we still need to return this.” He gestures towards the body on his back.
Ithelion is relieved when Meepo seems happy with the items. Possible faux pas avoided, must make a note. Taking a cue from Daemyar, she considers for a moment.
"Returning the body is our main concern, but do you have traders here? Or people who might sell things like Daemyar mentioned? Or sell scrolls or incense?"
Garnet is glad to see the little kobold is still safe. At the mention of the smell Garnet practically laughs, at the moment she is probably it's main source having received a rotten shower. She glances at the body, well maybe half the smell.
"Maybe a shield" she throws her request in after Daeymar's "a big one." That last bit added just make sure the Kobold knew she wasn't looking for the same size shield Ithelion gave him. Of course if the Kobolds don't have a shield she could see about buying a new one in town, after they take care of the fallen ranger.
"Hmmm, we have some things we take from goblin scum or found in caves. Meepo don't think any magic though...maybe you ask Yusdrayal, she know magic!" [depending on what you're looking for, she has a fairly limited inventory. Anything not here you'd likely be able to find in Oakhurst, which if you leave within the hour you'd likely get there just after dark].
He turns to Daemyar, "Sure! Meepo have extra you can have. Meepo need it for Calcryx but she not here anymore. Maybe we have stuff you can buy - you want to see?" He hands Daemyar the whip, smiling, "Here you go, bait!"
To Garnet he nods, "Meepo thinks there be some big things like shields, even big as kobold kin size!"
@daemyar - you can add a Whip to your inventory, if you accept it from Meepo...
Ithelion is clearly tempted by the possibility of speaking to a fellow arcanist, but then she glances dead eyes of the the oozing corpse that is slowly leaking grey-green fluid onto Daemyar's legs.
She clears her throat, "Perhaps, when we return. But for now, I think we have more pressing matters to which we must attend."
"Thank you, Meepo. Will will return as quickly as we can."
Meepo shrugs and hefts his shield and spear. You notice he has some chains wrapped around his waist as well, likely a weapon but also likely used for dragon-tamer-like things. "Okay big braves, where you go? You want Meepo to help? Or stay guard duty?"
[[OOC - So you all will leave the way you came in, from the tenor of your writing, you don't want to stop at the kobold enclave for anything, correct?
If that's the case, Meepo waves at you as you depart, "Bye, baits! See you soon! Me keep kobold-kin safe!"
we can fast forward to the ravine. If you all decide to go up the rope as you are, then everyone make a strength check, Daemyar with disadvantage.]]
As you get to the bottom of the hole, looking up, there is still some light - looks to be a bit late in the day. Even missing her arms, Karakas' corpse is a bit difficult and heavy and slows you down a bit.
When they reach the rope, Ithelion glances at the body, at Daemyar, and back the the body. "You know, there are magics for carrying things. I never really needed them, they seemed permanent at the Library."
She shakes her head, and absent-mindedly cleans non-existant dust from her clothes. "The things ones takes for granted..."
"Perhaps, we could tie her...tie a rope? It might help all of us."
She glances at her companions, hoping one might volunteer to climb up with a rope, so the task becomes easier, or at least less dangerous.
@daemyar - you make it about 10 feet before sliding back down, the awkwardness of the torso making it difficult for you. Take 1 point of rope burn damage.
Krom watches Daemyar slide back down the rope, "Why don't we just tie the body to this end and haul 'em up to the top? Seems like it would be the simpler solution."

Ithelion looks at the ropes on the outside of Krom's and Garnet's packs, "Perhaps we should tie the ropes together, then loop them around the pillar at the top, and use it to help each other up, and to lift the body?"
If people don't object, she takes one of the ropes, and starts to climb.
(( Strength: 7 ))
(( If that's a fail, then: ))
She curses as she lands heavily on the ledge. "This is not really my specialty, you know."
She glances at her companions, waiting for someone else to do something...
(( If she makes it to the top: ))
As she reaches the top, she breathes a sigh of relief, and throws one end of the rope down. "Tie another rope to the end", she shouts. She then pulls the rope back up, allowing the other end to drop down, around the pillar.
Ithelion makes it to the top, using the rope and footholds. It isn’t pretty but this isn’t a beauty contest. The ripe is already tied off you’re just using it to pull yourself up.

" Maybe you could tell them it it us?"
Ithelion pauses for a moment, consults her copious notes, then calls out "Ticklecorn!" in Draconic, then grimaces. "I hope I got that right."
