((OOC: I'm still here, just don't really think there is anything for Lorell to do at the moment. I'm fairly certain I've collected a weeks worth supplies of berries and roots... and picking more a the moment would be redundant. I'll wait till we hit an encounter or hit town... Plus I failed that wolf taming, haha. So, I'm kind of bummed.))
The dreams and visions you had seem to cast a pall over the mood. The confrontation with the wolves set you all a bit on edge. As if in response, the sky turns overcast and at times, there is light drizzle. During a particularly heavy round of rain, you all take refuge under a small group of trees. You take a small break. It begins to warm up, the moisture and the sudden appearance of the sun create a humid, stuffy atmosphere.
@krom, @daemyar, @garnet - several times you stop to cast your eyes around your surroundings. Something, you know, is following you but each time you think you see something, it turns out to be something different.
The rain lets up and you’re on your way. You’re making excellent time. After a couple of hours, the humidity gives way to cloudless, sunny skies. More importantly, Elosa comes back to you, Ithelion, chattering in your ear. (You can read her thoughts, there seems to be a cart overturned up ahead). You travel further and soon enough, In the distance you see what looks like a cart, though it is resting on its side, wheel spinning aimlessly and wobbly. Attached to the harness on the ground is a large mass of dark. Further afield, another horse grazes on the grass, it’s white flank bloodied from an arrow wound. From the his distance, you can also see arrows embedded in the wagon and strangely, a few still in the ground. (100 feet away). You would need to get a bit closer to see anything more.

@daemyar - a breeze of wind chills the back of your neck. You look behind you and the small hill the road came over you see a black figure - a dog, or wolf more likely - watches you. Currently, it is sniffing the ground and pacing a little bit. It seems strangely familiar...
Ithelion stares intently at the scene ahead, and says "I don't like the look of this, but we should probably help."
After taking in what she can, she will close her eyes and send Elosa aloft once again, with instructions to get a little closer to the cart, but a warning to be alert for dangers. She will watch through Elosa's eyes, and summon her back if there is a sign of threat, or if she loses contact.
Without opening her eyes, and with a look of disgust on her face, Ithelion says, "A wounded horse, and probably a dead one; and there are lots of bloody footprints leading to the forest east of the cart."
If possible without losing contact, she asks Elosa to look in the forest...but again be wary.
As she considers the scene, she adds "The arrows all seem to have come from the forest."
She added to Elosa: do not go into the trees.
(( If not possible, she calls Elosa back and waits for input from the rest of the group ))
The cover is particularly thick. Looking above the trees Elosa notices a plume of smoke some ways off but it is well out of her telepathic leash....do you wish to cut contact?
Ithelion will keep contact and try to note roughly how far off the smoke is, and in which direction -- and if there are any obvious paths or roads there.
She will direct Elosa to take a closer look at the horses, while watching through her eyes. Does the fallen one look like it was butchered for meat, partially eaten, or just killed by arrows and left?
@ithelion - you would estimate the smoke is a couple hundred feet off at the most, to the east of the road.. from here, and even from above, the tracks lead into the woods. Whatever path that there is is obscured by foliage. One horse has been shot in the leg and is eating. The other has been torn open. From Elosas perspective you can see crude markings around the horse. Lots of blood smeared on the ground, all of it to the East. There looks to be some armor and cloaks. On the side of the cart is what looks to be a symbol. A blue flower on a white background.
@daemyar - you crouch behind a rock. The wolf just looks on, sniffing, lying alert but not trying to hide. You don’t sense anyone else at this moment. You are about 100 feet away from the carnage.
Coming back to her own senses, Ithelion will glance around to orient herself, then say "If anybody said anything in the last minute, then I missed it."
After being updated ((I hope!)) she glances at the wolf and then turns to Krom saying, "You don't think we should also look for whoever owns the cart?"
Perception: 23 (She's not really focused on the wolf, but just in case something of catches her eye -- eg. Is it the one Lorell tried to charm? ))
Garnet came to attention kicking her from her melancholy. She agreed with Daeymar bandits no usealy take anything not nailed down. The wolf was also a bit concerning, but she wasn't very familiar with wolf behavior, maybe it was just scavanging. "Daeymar I'm going to get closer look, see if I can sense anything dangerous.." She nods to Ithelion "..or anyone alive nearby." Before moving forward she speaks to Lorell "Keep an eye on that wolf druid, let us know if it appears violent."
Bringing her shield up and unscheathing her sword Garnet moved closer.
(Plan to use Divine SenseIf we are about 100ft away she will cast it closer. )
@ithelion - nothing seems out of the ordinary, save for the possible massacre up ahead. It does seem to be the same wolf that Lorell interacted with earlier. It is getting closer to Krom but not threatening. With blood in the air, it is at least curious. The horse hasn’t noticed it yet.
@garnet - as you finish your intonation to your god, you don’t feel anything that would fall under this sense. Rather, you get the feeling of wrongness, a dissonance or counterpoint to the regular hum of nature. As you creep closer the horse snorts and moves a bit further away, it’s flank quivering. It’s not a fatal wound but eventually could be if not treated. You make it to within 20 feet of the cart. You notice the cloaks with the same Sigil as is on the cart. The amount of blood and smear marks is great. The excavated cavity of the horses torso splayed open ahead of you. You also notices the markings on the ground around the horse. You follow the path of blood with your eyes and it leads into the forest. The is clearly an entrance here, but not an obvious one. Rather it’s one made by practicality rather than design.
Ithelion nods at the wolf at little nervously, then says to Lorell, "Looks like you made a friend... Probably best if you keep it away from the horses."
She watches the wolf for a moment, considering its teeth, claws and probable speed, then adds, "And us."
(( ooc: I believe it is the same wolf, and I believe it is still charmed...you may want to wait before using the spell...though I'm not sure how you can check, lol ))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The air prickled her skin, it felt not right like a heavy fog on the senses. The smell of blood and death was strong. She sighed ,the appearance of wolves made sence, probably wanted to scavenge anything they could. Garnet can see the blood leads into the Forest but she is uncertain what direction the path continues on.The heraldry, on the cloaks and cart, she doesn't recognize it but maybe another member of her party will.
She is not the best with animals but the horse seems to be the only thing nearby that is alive, she makes soft noises to the animal to hopefully not scare the thing. Garnet moves closer to the cart she wants to see if its contents have been stolen or if it was just senseless killing, maybe find a purpose in the attack.
Animal handling: 5
(To hopefully not scare it? And do I need perception again?)
@garnet - the horse doesn't let you get too close. It whinnies and nickers, throwing it's head back a bit - but it doesn't bolt. You find some broken floor boards, papers, a few fingers, and a quiver of arrows (different than the ones that litter the area). You know there has been movement and, as you get closer, the buzzing of the flies can be heard around the dead horse and the pools of blood on the ground. You aren't sure what has happened here but in general, you are able to see that there was an attack - probably from the forest - and from the amount of tracks, there have been several people in this area.
You could make an investigation check if you want to look closer at anything specific.
@lorell - no need to cast this again, as this animal is indeed the same wolf, and is already charmed by you. Please roll an animal handling check, with advantage.
@all - the rest of you watch Garnet approach the scene in front of you, your attention sometimes taken away by the wolf situation behind you. You are all reasonably sure there is nothing/noone hiding from you, the action in this area has been over for some time. However, to deduce anything further, you would need to get closer......
