"A ... crater? What do you mean? I met with Izifo at the shrine when we were on shared planes. He was still well." Sthara is visibly shaken by how calmly Eku delivered the details of Mezro.
Eku shakes her head and says, "I am truly sorry sorceress. I have seen the ruins of Mezro with my own eyes. It no longer exists. Legend has it that it disappeared wholly some years back. There is naught that remains but a swampy crater surrounded by a few ruins."
"I...I will be on the pier. Find me when you come to a decision."
Sthara rushes out before there's a chance for anyone to say more. She makes her way out of the tavern and down the path to the pier, taking a seat at the edge of the far pier. Eku had said that Mezro was no more and it didn't seem as though she was joking or being cruel. She simply said it as fact. But surely it couldn't be gone. She'd spoken to Izifo so recently and he was well. Granted, there was magic involved, but it didn't seem dark. But...it was also at a shrine to Sseth. Could it be that the snake god was playing tricks on her, leading her astray and tormenting her for having left her brood?
"What is it that you seek to have me do, Ubtao? Why have I not known what has befallen Mezro? Why did you not tell me what has come of Izifo? Why have you not spoken to me again?"
She feels tears form in her eyes and stream hot down her cheeks. Looking up into the night, she leans forward and falls into the water.
Eku excuses herself to follow after Sthara. She gets to the pier in time to see her fall in and walks to the end of the dock. With her hands on her hips she says, "There are sharks just over there you know. Right there. You cannot die like this after doing the peninsula such a good deed." She reaches a hand out to the yuan-ti.
The late evening goes by without any trouble and soon enough the light of morning finds its way across the bay and into the small cove. Once everyone is fed the fires are lit and the pirates sing a sad song as they march away from the inferno. Having little options the bartender tries to pet his raptor before saying farewell, but the thing tries to nip at his gloved hand. He slaps it instead and curses at it before saying, "Go on, Knuckles! Run free." The beast disappears into the tree line without looking back. The day goes by uneventful and rainless.
Day 22
The day's march is coming to a close when two travellers bearing heavy packs are spotted near the treeline of the jungle. It seems apparent that they are just watching the large group pass by.
I understand Sending spell(s) are want to be cast and possibly use of the stone, but I doubt those results would change the march along the coast.
As the sun rises on the day after the battle, Nenne consults with her compatriots as they wake from their rest and casts Sending to Horace. "Jahaka Bay is destroyed. We took prisoners. How did you fare? If safe, please join us along coast or provide rendezvous point. We'd appreciate transport."
Horace's reply to Nenne is somewhat troubling yet not all bad, "Still engaged. It's all touch and go. Dragonfang is out of sight and I'm not sure where the second schooner went. Check back later."
The travellers near the jungle edge reply back to Boosey with, "Hail and well met! We're hunting undead in these parts. That's a big group you've got there!"
"Undead? Boosey, ask them if they've seen any nearby. It is quite odd we've come across none..." says Sthara. She's hoping they say yes. It would be nice to have something to focus on to take her mind off of things and spare it some worrying.
Upon hearing Horace‘s reply from Nenne Allister asks for the sending stone to contact Lasiker. „Should we send another message? Maybe something like ‚Hey *******, your base is burned to the ground. We took your treasures. Two more ships incoming. Have fun.‘ Maybe he’ll lose it and try something risky. Or he might run. But we could still find him.“ With that Allister shows the pieces of clothes he took from the captains‘ rooms. „You can use personal belongings to track someone with magic, right?“
Boosey breaks off from the main group and heads towards the travellers. He gestures at the rag tag group, "It's a long tale I'm afraid, but if you'd care to join us I'd be happy to tell you our story." He gives them a grin. "Piracy, treachery and feats of derring do," this last he makes an elaborate mock sword fighting gesture, as if fencing with an unseen foe. "How about you. Have you been successful in finding undead hereabouts? We've met none, so far, but we have been," he coughs "otherwise occupied!" With his back to the group he mouths to the travellers 'Pirates'. "Your names, sirs? So I may furnish you with mine in return. It's brave for just two to venture out in this jungle alone".
The travellers identify themselves as members of the Emerald Enclave and are very friendly. They're happy to see other friendly faces and break for the evening to trade stories and whatnot. They've only seen a few undead this far west, but the idea is to keep it that way. They're surprised to hear about the pirate cove and glad to see it gone. Their stories are what is to be expected out of the jungle save one:
"We came across some pale dwarves that claimed to have been pushed from their home. A mine south of here. We wanted no part in it though...They claimed it was a red dragon that burned their kin and made their clan scatter. If you're interested, I can mark it on a map for you. They told us where it was, but I assure you I'm not stepping foot near it. Poor sods. I wish there was more we could do."
"Lasiker could very well be anywhere at the moment," Funderburk began to tell Allister, "We could contact him and set another ambush up, or he may very well be at the cove- expecting to find a place to rest, but only to find... death and destruction. Whatever we decide, inform me and I shall send the message through the stone."
With that concluded, Funderburk watched and listened to the two Emerald Enclave travelers over time as they told their tale. Upon hearing their request about marking their map, the Vedalken brought forth their map from within his pockets and handed it to them, having them mark it on their map. "It may be of use to help them. Either now or later," he said to his friends. "Helping anyone is a good thing to do, especially with what has been going on with this death curse." With that, Funderburk put the map back in his pockets, but not before looking at it just to see where exactly it was. He looked up to the travelers, exchanging their tail about the pirates and how they became prisoners to him and his friends. “We are currently waiting for our ally to arrive and transport us back to where we may dump these depressing sacks of dung. However, both of their pirate ships that they were engaging in disappeared and he knows not where they are, therefore he cannot risk himself getting ambushed trying to rescue us. So we must wait.”
As the travellers join the party, Boosey plays his flute a while in between sharing stories. "A red dragon you say? Hey Funderburk! That would solve your gold flow problems, it's bound to have a massive hoard! All joking aside, who are these pale Dwarfs you speak of and please, show us on the map. What made a Dragon attack them, do you think? A beast such as that is not to be taken lightly!"
"The dwarves called the place Hrakhamar." He points out a location just on the other side of the mountains south of where you are now. "They said that fire newts came in with the dragon. What a 'fire newt' is I have no idea, but it doesn't sound good. The dwarves were strange, wearing skirts made of grass and all. Every one of 'em didn't have a lick of color in their hair or skin. Some kind of albino offshoot I guess. Anything they had came from the land...reptile hide for armor, stone weapons and twine made from some kind of plant for rope. I've never met another dwarf like them - probably never will again."
"Will do Allister." With that, Funderburk brought forth the stone from his pockets, and began to speak into the stone. Blossom. Horace a ruse. co-ordinated attack on cove to destroy. Flaming Fist sending reinforcements. Hurry back; little time.
Once finished with the messaged, he put the stone back inside his pocket, and continued along their journey.
The words that come back to Funderburk are emotionless and void of any emphasis due to the nature of telepathy, but the wizard can imagine the icy tone of Laskilar, "Horace is here. Can't shake him. Your man is dead. I have my own surprises. Your lack of knowledge is going to cost you big, b-"

"The captain responded friends. And I know not whether he is much of a friendly person as our friend here Worlo is. And I am betting he is in a better condition than he is." He looked at captain Worlo, now with a ruined cloak, "Captain, I know you are trying to ensure your safety, so to ensure it further, can you tell us about the two captains? Any... conditions they are in? Or special items they may hold?"
"Your man. Who does he mean 'your man'? Is there someone Liara hasn't told us about, not that that is an issue any more. Apparently" Boosey wonders out loud. "He doesn't sound too happy though, does he."
To the travellers he says. "I know of these Fire Newts, well heard tales of them at least." He goes on to describe the red newts, with skin the colour of flame. " On their own, nothing to worry about, but when they get together..." he lets the silence hang for a moment. "Vicious little bastards, they are. This mine, there must be a lot of volcanic activity round there for these things to thrive."
