Longen runs towards his companions, drawing his bow and knocking an arrow. With a swift practiced motion, he draws the bow and looses an arrow at the undead abomination.

Kethra runs forward 30 ft, while running she uses a tinderbox to ignite a torch. Kethra's eyes widened at seeing the melee as soon as the dim light reached them.

With one hand securing her makeshift mask, Kethra will watchfully make her way to Jairus and Tyrael, seeing with her torch if the cave has any more...plague.
"I'm betting if there is one of these things, there are more. We should assume any other bodies we find could react the same way." Tyrael prods it with his sword to make sure it doesn't move any more before putting the weapon away, a look of distaste on his face - and not from the undead.

Jairus, with his high perception and investigation, suggests he and another should remain in front, assuming the group plans to continue using magical light sources. “If you want us creep in’ around in the dark, I ain’t your guy, though.”

OOC: If we can walk side by side we have more options. For the DM, Jairus has passive Investigation and passive Perception 15 - if anyone else in the party has higher he will certainly step back and allow them to take his spot in the front row, and move to a middle row.
(( I agree with Jairus up front checking for traps. Tyrael can fight at range or in melee. It looks like Flower and Longen are fighting with a bows and Lasair with a staff (not sure what Kethra uses), so one option would be Jairus - 10/20 feet - Tyrael & Lasair, Kethra, Flower & Longen. Thoughts? I don't mind putting Tyrael in the rear to guard the back of the archers, but he has a high AC so he makes a decent blocker up front too. ))

OOC: This looks good to me, with Crossbow Master Jairus can use his preferred weapon even if an enemy closes without disadvantage, and he’ll count on at least one melee character either by his side or ready to rush up and engage an enemy if needed so he can reliably get off sneak attack.
"I'm betting if there is one of these things, there are more. We should assume any other bodies we find could react the same way." Tyrael prods it with his sword to make sure it doesn't move any more before putting the weapon away, a look of distaste on his face - and not from the undead.
"...bodies? So this man looked dead when he suddenly woke up? When he touched him? I guess sneakin' around isn't going to matter much."
She nods at the ruddy looking guy holding the crossbow, then in one smooth motion she stabs her javelin into the ground and punches Jairus in the shoulder. "We're best friends, right? I'm going to stay by your side, cuz all the monsters in Faerun think you're a snacc, but you're my snacc. WELL, for today. Okay?"
(What do I use? I've been pretty much been making a small collection of weapons now. A gardener has many tools, ehehe.)

Attack 8
Damage 7
(Here's the sad part—that actually hits. Flower rolling literally anything but a 1 would hit.)
Save: 21
Another chunk of the zombie flies to pieces, but he somehow still hangs on.

OOC: I'm assuming it didn't hit, but I forgot sneak attack regardless. SA damage - 2 I'll make sure to remember that in the future.
(Ha. Figures. But Nat 1s are more fun. Ha.)

(( I think I saw an action for everyone, so I'm going to assume we are on to round 2 ))
Tyrael continues to circle away from the front of the zombie, taking care not to obstruct the ranged party mates.
Attack: 16 / damage: 12

OOC: Let me know if Jairus should attack again, I think the PCs all need to do round one, then the zombie, maybe.
(Lassiter technically didn’t go, but if the zombie dies here . . .)
Save: 9
The zombie finally falls to the floor, in multiple pieces.

(Are we out of initiative now?)

(You are indeed out of initiative. Would you like to move forward into the cave, or examine the body?)
(Also, another marching order would be great. The narrowest passages here are 10 by 10.)

(Kethra has a torch lit currently, so that shouldn't be an issue.)

(If we have a tank, having them in the front along with the rogue is usually ideal, but I am not sure what everyone’s build is.)
Kethra curiously prods the body with a javelin to see if he had any weapons...or if his pockets make any jingling sounds.
