"Righto." Ander follows Rubin & Mardon up the stairs. "Let me know if ya want us to scout ahead." He whispers, tilting his head slightly towards the tiny owl on his shoulder.
“Like Rubin says, if you’re with Force Gray, welcome aboard,” Mardon says. “Let’s get er done. There’s a package full of contraband weapons from some place called Ravinica we’ve got to find and get out of here.”
Ander blinks Clover away to the pocket realm for the time being as she's not needed at this point, but will call upon her again by snapping his fingers. He will keep an eye and ear out with his passive perception (18) and investigation (16) as the group ascend the stairs (Does he hear or see anything that will be useful?).
"So have you got any information on what this contraband is meant to be? What exactly are we lookin' for?" he whispers.
“The intel has been s*** this whole mission,” Mardon says. “Crate of contraband weapons from this Ravinica place, that’s all I got, how about you, Rubin? We thought we had it but it was a dummy drop, normal-a** long swords. So we came back to find the real contraband weapons crate. Maybe they already busted it and put it to work - we ran into some guys with flame spewing gadgets earlier. That could have been the whole thing right there. Now we’re just making sure and killing anyone who gets in the way, unless someone has a better plan, in which case I’m all ears.”
"Okay then. Let's find this stuff then. Let me know if you're in need of some healing too after that rumble earlier by the gates." Ander will continue up the stairs.
(I'm realising now that I should have said stealthing up the stairs - oh well! But it works in the context that Ander should go last - he's too busy talking haha)

OOC: No worries, I built a character whose armor gives him disadvantage, and isn't trained in stealth. I had imagined we would be splitting up to have one person handle scouting, etc. Given the way it's gone I should have gotten studded leather, but we didn't have additional starting gold to cover the cost, so maybe for the future.

"That sums it up nicely." Rubin confirms.

Just as you head up, you see 2 guards, one with the flaming weapon
roll initiative.
Initiative: 11 For Mardon
Ander's initiative: 9
13
Rubin initiative: 17
Rubin casts hunters mark on the one with the fire weapon. He then shoots the man three times.
Attack: 18 Damage: 10 Hunters Mark Damage: [roll](if([roll:-2:critical], =0, 1d6, 2{1d6}.expand()))/roll]
Attack: 21 Damage: 10 Hunters Mark Damage: [roll](if([roll:-2:critical], =0, 1d6, 2{1d6}.expand()))/roll]
Dread Attack: 22 Damage: 5 Hunters Mark Damage: [roll](if([roll:-2:critical], =0, 1d6, 2{1d6}.expand()))/roll] Dread
Damage: [roll](if([roll:-3:critical], =0, 1d8, 2{1d8}.expand()))/roll]
Not sure what happened with the hunters mark and dread ambusher damage, but here it is.
1st attack: hunters mark: 1
2nd attack: hunters mark: 4
3rd attack: hunters mark: 5, ambusher damage: 6
(You missed a square bracket to close your roll -- )))[/roll])
So it looks like the initiative is:
Rubin
Enemies - Current Turn
Mardon
Anders

(Yeah true. Oh well. Next time I can either stealth in or send my familiar to look around. )
Are you shooting the one with the weapon or not?
Yes, thus why I hunters marked him. Hunters mark on the one with the fire weapon, then shoots directed at the same person.
