A nod is all Thyrius gets in affirmation before the two are whisked away by the eldest magic. Though disoriented for but a moment, Xemnez looked a touch frazzled seeing only the one shadow, and one far too close at that. But as tempted as he was to rush the thing, knowing the others might yet find his brother and take advantage, he resolved himself instead to search around for the others and mentally convey to his brother their whereabouts.
'I will draw their attention further. Take advantage as best you can brother, as I know only you can.'On the back of those words of encouragement, Xemnex swam closer to at least the one he first spied(10ft to A5) and spread his arms wide as if daring it to try and attack him.

Xemnez looks around, after taking a moment to imbue his brother with confidence and then swims forward through the dark liquid as his axe pulls him down to the silty bottom slightly. He glares through the darkness, home to these shadowy undead...and manages to spot another one creeping forward in the darkness...but the a few of the others still evade his keen sight. (he can see A1 and A5)
The other shadows trailing behind from where the brothers just teleported dash through the water ducking behind obstacles and trying to slip the brothers notice. A3 Stealth : 19. A6 Stealth: 24. (if below 23, then Xemnez is able to keep an eye on them as well)
Above, Simaal tries to strike the skull near the group with thunder, but the effect seems to just vibrate the skull a bit and the low building thunder sound evaporates without effect.
Above the bones, another of the skulls darts closer to the group, seeing it's brethern's tactic working, but can't reach the groups bubble and so holds off fifteen feet short of the tunnel.
(OOC: Going by his passive perception, Thyrius should be able to spot both A5 and A3, I believe. Thyrius is also starting his turn from a hidden position. I am not sure if the shadows can spot him but will assume that Thyrius can still attack with advantage on his first attack. Feel free to ignore the second d20 on that attack if this is not the case.)
Thyrius manifest his [Tooltip Not Found] and, taking advantage of his self-perceived hidden position, swims by and past one of the shadows he can see (any opportunity attacks are made at disadvantage). Thyrius delivers two stings of his dagger and tries to hide again. As the weapon stings, wails of lost souls can be heard in the water.
-> Movement: to and past A3 if possible, otherwise to and past A5
-> Action: Attack First Attack (Sneak Attack, Wakened, Lifedrinker): Attack: 33 Damage: 42 magical piercing, acid, and necrotic. Second Attack (Thirsting Blade. Wakened, Lifedrinker): Attack: 31 Damage: 27 magical piercing, acid, and necrotic.
-> If Sneak Attack hits (no action needed): Wails from the Grave. Both A3 and A5 take this damage if they are within 30ft of each other: 7 necrotic.
Nuzej, realizing his magical floor was a failure, angrily lets it dispel as he casts Bigby’s hand. He casts it within the protective sphere if his knowledge of the spell tells him that is effective and outside of it if his mind tells him he can do that without it being effective.

Thryius slips forward through the water, but it seems his attempt to hide from the shadows did not go unnoticed and they spot him as he slips through the water. (Passive Perception of shadows is 19, tied with your stealth roll). Even so, he swims slowly through the water (water is difficult terrain, so full movement used to reach shadow). He slashes out twice in quick succession at the shadow. The blade slices through the things shadowy body without effort, each swipe taking with it a mass of shadow, until there is nothing left of the thing...the darkness just evaporating in the water. Dark shadowy forms that Xemnez recognizes as the souls of the dead that sometimes manifest near his brother, emerge in the darkness, but seek around for anything to harm. They seem unable to perceive the shadow...the thing lacking a life force...and simple fade away with a hollow moan. Thryius looks around for a place to hide, but he is right next to a shadow, and is in the open, so is unable to hide.
From the darkness behind Thyrius, a shadow, unseen, slips up to the golden Leonin and takes a swipe at him.
Attack on Xemnez: 19 Damage: 7 + 11 necrotic damage. (Unless he is immune to necrotic damage, Xemnez's Strength score is reduced by 2 )
Attack on Xemnez: 26 Damage: 8 + 12 necrotic damage. (Unless he is immune to necrotic damage, Xemnez's Strength score is reduced by 2 )

Above, the invisible walkway ceases to exist, and a large translucent hand appears within the bubble. Nuzej reaches out his own hand to the skull, making a crushing motion. The massive hand mimics the motion, and grabs the skull, crushing it into bits that clatter down onto the cave floor.
Another skull swoops in to take its place. A flaming sphere appears in the middle of the sphere, its fiery heat licking at everyone. The ball rolls forward and slams into Nuzej.
Nuzej: DC 15 Dex save. 7 fire damage, save for half. (make a concentration save as well)
Another of the skulls flits out of the blazing light and gets closer, but remains hovering in the air outside the protective sphere, about 20 feet away.
Toc makes a displeased noise and swipes his hand across the area....the flaming sphere gutters like a drowned torch and then fizzles out of existence.

As a blast of radiant energy lashes the air, one of the skulls deftly dodges to the side, its fiery eyes glaring at Mirica with malevolence. Then it's eyes are guttering as the massive area of light swings back into the middle of the room, covering all of the skulls with brilliant light. The skulls seem to be onto Mirica's game though and they fly out of the light before it can harm them. Two of them fly closer to the party, taking some shelter against the wall, but otherwise don't or toss any magic at the group....

Under the water, the shadows are deceptive and very difficult to see.....as one comes lunging out of a black choral to attack Thyrius. Likewise, another also slides out of the darkness, fully taking slashes at Thryius with their short blades made of shadow.
Attack on Thryius: 27 Damage: 7 + 10 necrotic (Unless Thyrius is immune to necrotic damage, Thyrius' Strength score is reduced by 2 if hit by this attack.)
Attack on Thryius: 11 Damage: 10 + 13 necrotic (Unless Thyrius is immune to necrotic damage, Thyrius' Strength score is reduced by 1 if hit by this attack.)

The one that Xemnez can actually spot darts behind a pillar of stone.... Stealth: 25 ..... but then appears next to Xemnez, dark blades swinging....
Attack on Xemnez: 20 Damage: 6 + 12 necrotic (Unless Thyrius is immune to necrotic damage, Thyrius' Strength score is reduced by 3 if hit by this attack.). (if stealth roll was high enough, 2nd attack value for advantage hits AC 18)
Attack on Xemnez: 24 Damage: 8 + 10 necrotic (Unless Thyrius is immune to necrotic damage, Thyrius' Strength score is reduced by 2 if hit by this attack.)

Simaal throws a javelin at the closest skull Attack: 13 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.... <> Damage if it hits, which is unlikely with an 11... 4 + 2
Thyrius largely does a good job in defending himself, but one of the incoming attack still succeeds. He does what he can to reduce the damage.
-> Reaction: Uncanny Dodge to reduce damage from 17 to 8.
"Brother, their attacks are sapping my strength. I fear we might succumb to to weakness even before they bleed us out." Thyrius says this mentally for all to hear. He assumes this also answers Toc's question.
Simaal hurls a javelin barely 10 feet at the nearest skull. The javelin glances off the thing, sending chunks of bone flying into the air. The skulls fiery eyes promise Simaal retribution.

'Indeed. Should we fall, know these... things will hide in the shadows, and slip into it freely' Xemnez adds mentally for all while tightening his grip on Nezmos, which by then felt like trying to hold up boulder single handedly. He didn't dare look to himself as well, knowing full well seeing the atrophied muscles would only serve to demoralize. Instead he slowed his breathing and gripped Nezmos with both hands for a final play. 'And see the mission through above all'
With that, once more Xemnez drew upon the strength and guidance of the one ancestral spirit yet bound to him. And as his mane began to faintly turn white, he launched himself into a series of surprisingly calculated strikes, as each one seemed aim to pressure, disable, and where possible destroy the shadow before him, prior to then abruptly turning on the other one nearby.

If any attack hits, Ancestral Protectors will make all attacks made by the target have disadvantage on anyone but Xemnez until the start of his next turn. And if still able to hit, damage dealt is halved.
From nearby Thyrius glances through the dark waters and sees his brother's chest expand, his very ego seems to swell and his mane sparkles with verve. His brother hefts his one handed axe as easily in the water as he would in the air, swinging the blade over and over at the creature. His first strike lands against the shadows outstretched hand, but the shadow somehow manages to keep a grip on its shadowy blade even as bits of shadow waft away. But Xemnez isn't done. He swings again, landing another blow on the things arm, sending more shadow spraying. The creature continues to keep grasp of its weapon. Then a third blow strikes the creature and severs the hand holding the blade. A puff of shadow erupts and the blade that was nothing but darkness seems to solidify somehow...and quickly floats down through the water to puff into the silty bottom. The blade there looks dark and very real, as opposed to it's shadowy indistinct shape in the shadow monsters hands.
The shadow he fights swirls about, agitated by the Leonin and the loss of its weapon.
The last of the shadows still in hiding darts out, finding Xemnez, and attacking the reckless Leonin from his flank.
