Yevele climbs the rope to the top of the chute, with Smoke close behind her. As she nears the top, she inspects the covering of the hole but does not see any indications of a trap. The covering sags just slightly into the indentation in the ceiling. It appears to be the bottom of a rug or carpet of some sort.
Some of the half-dwarf's wounds magically close. He looks both very pleased with himself and nostalgic at the same time. Turning his shining eyes on Karib, he smiles, "Follow them up. I'll stay here with the prisoner. If you need me, call."
Karib shakes his head, "Not me lad. I'd be clanking all the way up, then light would announce my arrival to anyone there." He peers in the direction of the ladder. "Let's leave it to the professionals."
He turns his attention to their prisoners, then smiles. "While we wait, I might try something new."
He then begins to ritual cast augury, wondering how it would go if they just saunter out of the caves dragging their prisoner.
OOC: Augury requires 25 gp worth of material components, so Karib won't be able to cast that just yet. He'll have to purchase those components from a city or town with those in store first.
Hearing no noises from above, Yevele pushes the rug out of the way and peers into a chamber with writing desk, stool, and several tables. Light floods into the chute from two oil lamps above.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yevele will climb up into the chamber and take a look around. If there is no one present, she will go over and start searching the writing desk. investigation11
If Smoke hasn't followed her, the monk will whisper back to him before she starts searching, "Come on up.
Rogram nods silently at Karib, then moves a little back into the bigger part of the chamber to begin bending and stretching. He winces as his movements pull at his injuries, but he doesn't stop. He keeps an eye on the prisoner and the chute, taking a few moments to soothe his aching muscles.
Yevele ascends into the chamber, followed by Smoke and Karib.
Books and papers cover the tables in the chamber, and the floor is covered by thick rugs.
Spread open on one of the tables is a simple map of the Greenfields area showing the villages the cult attacked and looted. An arrow is sketched in from the Greenfields toward the west and the town of Beregost on the Trade Way, where the arrow turns north. A separate sheet of paper that is covered with numerals in columns contains the note:
Everything must be freighted north to Naerytar. Rezmir allowed us to keep some pearls, a ring, and a handful of small stones.
Other papers are of less interest; most of them contain bad poetry about dragons.
The room continues into a hall leading further ahead, and another opening leads into a smaller chamber off of this room.
Karib calls down to Rogram, "Tie the prisoner to the ladder." Then turns to Yevele and Smoke, "Give me a hand will you? I think it's best we bring her along. Just in case the roper gets hungry."
Once the prisoner is secured to the rope ladder, he he hauls her up. "Wonder where these gems and pearly are?"
Rogram puts his sword and shield away and ties the prisoner to the bottom of the ladder. If needed, he'll call for someone to throw down some rope to assist in the process.
After climbing up the ladder himself, he helps haul up the prisoner, untie them from the ladder (hand back the rope if borrowed), and rearms his shield. "What did you find?" he asks, hoping for an indication as to where his father might be.
Smoke will help Karib as best he can to help pull up the ladder, after that he will look around to make sure there arent any traps.
Naerytar.. thats where they are going. We should let Leosin know.
He will then try to search for some more clues on any contacts since this seems to be an where they keep all the paperwork. Smoke will try to find anything with the name Tarth.
Smoke finds no mention of the name Tarth among the paperwork; the only contact directly mentioned among any of the papers is "Rezmir" in the scrawled note about Naerytar.
Karib watches and tries to help, praying for the Guidance of Gond as people search. "Whatever secrets they store are probably with the items of value," he says.

Yevele will pause at the top of the rope ladder to listen for any sounds coming from above.perception 23
If she doesn't hear anything from above, she lift the carpet up and peer into the space above her.

(( Oops. OK...do you mind if he prepared something else when he levelled? eg. Calm Emotions? ))
Seeing the light flood down from above, Karib grunts and turns to Rogram, "Guess we don't need to worry about light, eh?"
He looks down at the prisoner, "When I'm up, if there's no fighting, tie him to the ladder and we'll haul him up."
Finally, if he hears no sounds of fighting in the next minute, he starts to ascend the ladder.

Smoke will indeed stay relatively close to Yevele, giving her enough room to move around but close enough to offer help if needed.

(( Karib will help and give guidance to Yevele, as noted above ))
The smaller chamber contains a bed; at the foot of the bed are two trunks, both currently closed.

Karib continues to assist and invoke Gond's aid for whoever is investigating the chests.
